About Mo Fini
We are a family of four Myself: Mo Fini, my wife: Lucy Davies and two children Nina and Leo. Our permanent home is in Bath UK but we have always been travelling. In fact Nina learnt to walk in the back of our landrover when we were travelling across the Americas. In 1978 I started a Fair trade business called Tumi dealing with Latin American crafts. Our business grew quickly employing some 3000 artisans across Latin America and Europe. We worked closely with all types of Private organizations as well as Oxfam and Traid Craft. I also founded Tumi Music, specialising in Latin American music. Tumi now only sells on line. If you would like to find out more please contact me. If you come to our cortijos you will notice the Latin American influence in our houses and in our music collections!
Mo Fini purchased this Cottage in 2000
Why Mo Fini chose Busquístar
Las Alpujarras in Sierra Nevada de Andalusia is known as secret Spain. We lived in Costa del Sol running a business for some 15 years but then we we realised we wanted somewhere quiet and unspoilt. It was then we discovered and bought these three old "cortijos" or Moorish cottages and started to re-build and restore them. This is a labour of love and seemingly a never ending project. We continue to plant fruit trees and develop the garden which now includes a vineyard. We also love walking and the beauty of these cortijos is that they are located in the national park and there are many wonderful walks you can start straight from the cortijos without driving anywhere. This is a place full of sunshine, fresh fruit and vegetables and natural beauty that refreshes the spirit. This listing is for Almond cortijo, one of three Cortijos which together can house large families and up to 14 people in total.
What makes this Cottage unique
We do not believe that any other property in the Sierra Nevada gives you the geographical location and the opportunity to live at 1500 meters and be only an hour from Granada and an hour from the beach and at the same time be so isolated in the heart of the national park..The location really is totally unique. During the hot summer months of July and August, the fact that we are at 1500 m means the heat is never unbearable. All guests can enjoy the beautiful large swimming pool, extensive gardens full of fruit trees and ancient chestnut trees and even try their hand at baking bread and making pizza in our clay oven! It is a paradise for families with small children as there is so much space to run around. There is ample access to lovely hiking and footpaths in the surrounding national park. A short drive takes you to local villages with bars offering traditional food and tapas. A drive of just over an hour takes you to the lovely town of Granada, full of history and of course the famous Alhambra palace and gardens, a must see for many guests. When the 3 cortijos are rented together they sleep up to 14 people, but people often rent the individual cortijos, Pablito for 2 people, Walnut for 4 and Almond for 6. The cortijos are positioned in such a way that each one maintains its own privacy (and each has its own private terrace and barbeque area) and all enjoy stunning views of the surrounding area. This is the perfect place for people who just want to relax and do nothing but sit in the sun and also for those who want to hike, pony trek and be more active, it's totally up to you!

Both the villages of Busquistar and Trevelez are 4km away from the cortijos. Bubion, Pampaniera and Capileria approx 20 minutes away. Orgiva 25km and approximately half an hour drive. Granada is 1 hour away approx.
There are local shops and supermarkets 4km away. The nearest banks are in Trevelez 4 kms away or Pitres some 7km away. There are also many restaurants and bars nearby.
