About loretta nardini
My name is Loretta Nardini. My husband's name is Benito Casci. We lived in Scotland until 1985 when we returned to our homeland.
loretta nardini purchased this Villa in 2012
Why loretta nardini chose Castelnuovo di Garfagnana
Peaceful and quite but at the same time near restaurant, town and railway station. You can watch the the deer and foxes crossing the fields.
What makes this Villa unique
Restored stone barn with retaining many original features but at the same time modern and functional. Beautiful infinity pool.
100% refund if canceled at least 60 days before arrival date.
Lovely escape to Italy even though weather poor
Very helpful owners - lovely property nestled in the Italian mountainside.. Facilities excellent - cooking utensils etc all well provided for.. Unfortunately our weather was not good at the beginning of our stay, however we got out and about to see some of the beautiful surrounding villages during this time. You would definitely need a car to stay here as nearest town / supermarket is not easily walkable for the average family .Would highly recommend for a relaxing escape. Thank you!
A perfect family vacation retreat
We (4 adults and two children) thoroughly enjoyed our stay at La Capanna del Pastore, in the middle 2 weeks of August. The villa was as indicated in the write-up, it was clean and in excellent order, and the local manager (Benito) was always close at hand to answer any questions, address any very minor issues, and even, very kindly, to book local restaurants.
The villa, is so close to all the amenities of Castelnuovo, yet only a few minutes by car from this excellent regional centre. Also, as the villa is within the Apennine foothills region, although the temperatures by day were lovely (high 20s C to low 30s C), at night-time the heat reduced, such that sleeping was very comfortable. Additionally, we did not encounter a single mosquito!
The swimming pool was family and children friendly, accessed by roman steps the width of the pool, and was just a few yards from the upper, side entrance to the villa. The living space was on the upper level and all the bedrooms were on the lower level, which worked well. The number of bedrooms (four) was matched by the number of bathrooms, with a bed-settee plus another toilet/shower-room on that level.
This area of the Apennines is scenically very beautiful and numerous outdoor activities are at hand. The coast, with the Cinque Terre villages (best accessed by boat from, say, the coastal resort of Lerici), are within reach for a day trip.
Our family had a wonderful time at this villa and we can thoroughly recommend it.
Thank you for your kind email, I am glad you enjoyed your stay at La Capanna del Pastore.
Hope to see you again,
Loretta & Benito

A lovely villa
A party of 8 ranging from 3 year old to 58 had a great 7 days in the villa, beautiful setting in a beautiful area of Italy. Lots of lovely little villages to explore. The owners were very helpful with lots of info before we went and when we arrived at the villa. Would recommend and will return. LOVED IT.
We spent a fantastic 9 nights in this beautiful home. The facilities are great and we had everything we needed and more. Loretta was helpful and friendly and gave us lots of tips for restaurants and places to go. We found wonderful places to eat and there is lots to do. The setting is beautiful and we relaxed as soon as we arrived .
There was nothing we didn’t like about our stay
Hello Andrea, thank you very much for your kind review,
Beautiful restored barn
We stayed here with a family group and it was perfect as everyone had their own bedrooms and ensuites so plenty of privacy and space. We often ate on the terrace overlooking a beautiful view of the mountains. The grounds and pool were lovely but we did have to keep a careful eye on the toddler as the pool is sunken and on grass level but then again you can never take your eye off small children and water! You can walk into Castlenuovo but it is rather a steep hill and maybe just a little too far for some people. The hosts are wonderful and nothing is too much trouble. We would have no hesitation in booking again if we returned with a group.
