Peaceful village location in rural setting. Comfortable, cosy & relaxing...
About Madeline Riggs
We're both born in Devon and have lived in the area all our lives. We built the house we now live in which is situated just above the cottage. We decided to convert the old barn into separate self contained accommodation. Making an ideal location for a couple seeking the peace and tranquillity in this beautiful part of Devon. We live here permanently and run our own small farm. We have a good local knowledge of the area. So if required, we are happy to give advice on restaurants, beaches and various other activities. "Most of them have been tried & tested by ourselves" Please don't hesitate to ask!
Madeline Riggs purchased this Cottage in 1949

We had a lovely time in the little cottage which is perfectly place to visit all the popular local areas.
Great local pub just 2 minutes walk with great wine choices and beer selection.
Would highly recommend this location and cottage for a great short break.
Great location, friendly village. Plenty of cycling routes close by and on Dartmoor.
Just Like Home
This is a lovely property, well maintained and well equipped. The garden was absolutely lush, abundant with color. The bed was comfortable, and there’s plenty of hot water for showers and dishes. We enjoyed the upstairs, perfect for watching TV or reading. And the patio is a perfect spot to have a glass of wine, surrounded by wisteria. Stokeinteignhead is a gracious and friendly village; everyone goes out of their way to smile and greet you and give helpful advice.
Our hosts, Maddy and Godfrey, were a delight. We enjoyed our visits over the fence and Godfrey was always full of good ideas about where to go and what to see. Thank you both for the wonderful evening of drinks and snacks.
Don’t miss one of the best pubs ever, The Church House Inn. Excellent food; don’t miss the Sunday Traditional Roast and make sure you stop in for great music on Tuesday nights.
If we had anything to complain about, and this is minor, it would be the difficulty with connecting to WiFi. You have to be out on the patio and if it’s rainy or cold it’s uncomfortable. You can go over to the pub and connect there so that helps.
I would have to say that Acorn Cottage will be a hard act to follow. We were sorry to leave and would love to return one day.
Very clean tidy and warm everything we needed
Lovely cottage in very friendly village away from it all but close to sights just what the doctor ordered
Fabulous little cottage for two.
Acorn cottage is a liitle gem. Decor and furnishing are of a high standard giving the cottage a cosy feel. Highlight has to be the log burner, perfect to curl up in front of with a glass of the lovely wine that was kindly left for us. Lovely place for a romantic break away in a lovely little village.Only little niggle was no phone signal and having to stand by the door to patio area to get a wifi signal.
Perfect getaway cottage
