Maison La Roche is a cosy cute two bedrooms and two Bathroom stone cottage with private heated seasonal plunge pool. Perfect for couples, families or small groups to relax and get away from it all.

The Gite is situated in a quiet picturesque area close to the River Vienne and a short walk into L'isle Jourdain also not far (5km)from Le Vigeant and the International Racing Circuit Val du Vienne.

The cottage has a cute kitchen/cuisine with gas cooker, dishwasher, microwave, woodburner and Nespresso coffee machine/cafetiere etc with an extendable dining table and chairs. Although the cottage is self-catering we do provide some basic kitchen amenities such as oil, cooking spices, tea and coffee, etc to get you started.

Next to the kitchen is a comfortable living room/salon with a large LCD TV with UK Satelite TV and French local TV channels. Free wifi is available throughout the cottage.

Bedroom 1 is downstairs with a Kingsize bed.

The first shower room is downstairs with luxury towels and some toiletries provided.

Bedroom 2 is upstairs with a kingsize (160x200) bed and beautiful en-suite shower room. Quality sheets and bedding provided.

There is an iron and ironing board available. There are also hairdryers provided in each bedroom.
There is a washing machine available. Just outside the kitchen there is a small patio area which is perfect for enjoying meals and relaxing.

Just across the quiet residents lane from the patio there is a fully fenced enclosed orchard garden with a private (heated from 15 May to end September weather permitting ie. Over 20 degrees celsius) Plunge Pool, a large decked area with a fabulous view towards the river Vienne and the Barrage La Roche, a gorgeous dining area under the pergola and sun loungers to relax on. This is also a wonderful spot for star gazing and BBQ's.

Charcoal BBQ is available for use in the orchard.

We are dog friendly at Maison La Roche and welcome up to two small to medium or 1 large (ie. Labrador) well behaved and friendly dogs (extra fee applies). Dogs must be declared at time of booking so the extra fee is added to your booking and payment, failure to declare dogs at time of booking may result in your booking being cancelled. Please refer to our terms and conditions. 😊 Dogs are not to be left on their own in the cottage. We do expect dog owners to cleanup after their 🐶. We may be able to assist with dog sitting for short periods during your stay although dogs are welcome most places around here 😁.

Your hosts Jo and Jamshid stay in the neighbouring property and will be on hand to meet and greet and assist you throughout your stay whilst at the same time respecting your privacy.

Maison La Roche is a non-smoking property inside however smoking is permitted outside, ashtrays provided.

During the summer there are many free events on in the surrounding area, it is not unusual to have free open air music concerts on a Saturday evening and of course there are the many Vide Greniers and Brocantes to hunt out your French bargains and soak up the local atmosphere.

If you would like to go out and about on foot there is much to see and do. There are several hiking routes in the surrounding area. A short walk down the hill from the cottage is the river Vienne which is suitable for fishing and kayaking.

There is many water sports available along the river at the waterskiing school including pedalos and there is kayaking from the nearby village of Moussac. There are many scenic walks around the cottage and also it is well placed for cycling with many cycle tours passing by. We have an old disused railway trail which runs over the spectacular 19th century Viaduct and goes for miles perfect for mountain bikes or walking.

For the more adventurous there is bungy jumping off the 19th Century Viaduct, zip wires across the river and climbing courses amongst the trees, all within minutes walk from the cottage.

From April 2022 there is a new restaurant called Les Reflets de La Vienne, situated close to the River Vienne and facing the spectacular Viaduct. They will be offering a great selection of French food and also a Vegetarian/Vegan option too!! A fabulous place to unwind and watch the world go buy, enjoy the terrace for drinks, a meal or both. Situated just 400 meters walk from the Gite.

There is a bar/restaurant La Viaduc just 200 metres walk from the cottage which is also a Tabac. They serve very nice Pizzas, Burgers and Steaks and much more and are open everyday (except Sunday) from mid April until End of September. Arrive before 8pm if you want to order food.

Down the hill from the Viaduc Restaurant/bar there is another restaurant called La Barrage which is open most lunch times and most Friday and Saturday evenings in summer with a popular Fish and Chips night every first Friday of the month. Please book in advance.

For more restaurants and bars you can walk into L'isle Jourdain across the river or the Viaduct approximately 1km from the Gite.

A few hundred metres from the town square there is the Intermarche supermarket and service station. There is a pharmacy in the town square.

Larger towns of Confolens and Montmorillon are approx 30mins drive away in opposite directions. Likewise the cities and airports of Poitiers and Limoges are an easy 1 hour drive away.
