Mulhacen Penthouse, Guejar Sierra, Sierra Nevada, Granada.
It’s a great flat with fantastic views and a good position. It has a large terrace which overlooks the lake. The village and little bars and restaurants are really lovely.
Unfortunately, the air conditioning wasn’t working and there were no fans. It was 35 degrees! We rang and told the key holder, Rosie. She apologised and said that we should hoover the outside unit, which we did but it did not make any difference. She said that she would get an engineer out the next day. In the meantime, she did bring us two fans, which unfortunately made little difference to the overall heat in the apartment. Then, when we spoke to her the next day she told us that the engineer would not be coming. We were told by Rosie that the previous people who were there were also too hot, so it clearly was not working properly then either.
The Ikea sofas and pedestal chair in the lounge were very grubby. The shower curtains were awful and all the windows and frames needed a really good clean. There was only one bedside light between all of the three bedrooms.
The crockery desperately needs replacing, and everywhere needs to be redecorated and thoroughly cleaned.
We had to sweep the terrace ourselves and one of the plastic loungers was broken and the other was really tatty. There were no cushions for the chairs. The terrace table and bench chairs also needed replacing.
Anyone planning to visit this apartment in the summer months needs to ensure that the air conditioning is fully operational and that the apartment has been cleaned thoroughly, otherwise, like us, it will mar their stay.
