Beautiful views of the nearby mountains are visible from the wrap around porch and windows. The cabin has new carpet and furnishings throughout, which includes mattresses, bedding, towels, dishes, stove, dishwasher, and washer and dryer. The cabin sleeps 6-8 people with 3 bedrooms and a loft. The master bedroom is located downstairs with a gorgeous, locally handcrafted, custom built, log California king size bed. The adjoining bathroom has double sinks, a jetted tub, and a walk-in shower. Upstairs there are 2 bedrooms, one with a majestic queen size bed, and the other with 2 extra-long, locally handcrafted, custom built, log twin beds that can accommodate adults comfortably. The loft has a sitting area with a reclining couch and chair and an available queen size blow-up bed to accommodate 2 additional guests (by the end of April, 2017 the new custom, Idaho manufactured couch with a queen pull-out mattress will arrive). The upstairs bathroom has an old-fashioned claw foot tub, as well as a separate shower. Downstairs, the great room has a beautiful rocked-in gas fireplace with a log mantel and an extremely comfortable, over-stuffed, reclining seating area with a large-screen TV and DVD player with family-friendly movies. We are a family who loves the outdoors and found Salmon the place that fits our lifestyle. Not only does Salmon have a lot of things to keep us busy, what we like most about this place are the people. The people of Salmon are the friendliest people we've ever met. You get a feeling of genuine community here.
Kelly Bockmon purchased this cabin in 2015
We love the peaceful neighborhood, the proximity to the town of Salmon, the views, the Amish store on the corner, the orchard, chicken coop, and animal barns.
The Baker Country Cabin is located in a beautiful, quiet area, with friendly neighbors. The Amish market down the street offers a variety of unique goods; sandwiches, dried foods, canned jams, canned veggies, dairy goods, an amazing assortment of cheeses, homemade breads, fry pies, homemade furniture, etc. We are not far from the hot springs and less than 10 miles from Salmon which offers a variety of restaurants and shopping experiences. The Sacajawea Center, museum, and new library offer lots of activities in and around town. There are several outfitters who offer rafting trips, horseback riding, guided hunts and can make sure your trip to Lemhi County is an adventure you'll never forget!
We stayed here for three nights in March which is off-season for the Salmon area. Translation--tons of peace & quiet! I imagine the cabin is always peaceful no matter the season however; we wish we could've stayed another week and just wandered around exploring the area every day, with this amazingly perfect cabin to come back to each night.
We stayed here with three kids who loved the loft area and the spacious yard outside. All the beds had very comfortable linens and comforters, with supportive yet well-cushioned mattresses. I loved sitting on the living-room furniture, so relaxing with the gas fireplace going! The kitchen had everything we needed to make meals each evening, and great-looking rustic dinnerware that we had to ask the owner about--we have been looking for plates like this forever! Overall, the whole place exudes the ideal cabin atmosphere with a great mix of interesting, eclectic knick-knacks and art on the walls and comfy places to hang out everywhere. We were literally dragging our feet when we had to leave.
Last but not least, the owners were extremely hospitable throughout our stay. We were a last-minute reservation but that didn't matter. Everything was ready to go, and Kelly made sure we felt welcome. Then I screwed up the DISH Network first thing once we were settled in, so I called to see if she knew how to fix it. She responded right back and we got it going again. Thanks so much!
When we arrived in the area the temp was extremely cold outside and the house was not really cozy and warm. The house only provides small heating units in most of the rooms so we had to keep them on high in order to be comfy. It's great that the house provides Wi-Fi but unfortunately it's not good. None of my family could use it and the Netflix wouldn't connect either. Definitely bring movies if you want to use the TV. The only other problem we had was that the kitchen was missing a few things that would've been helpful. There wasnt a can opener or any large baking dishes for casseroles or anything like that. If you plan on cooking from the house most of the time there is only some basic things. Other than these things there was lots of plates, mugs, cups and dinnerware. We were well provided with towels and linens and lots of warm blankets. The house is absolutely beautiful and we would definitely want to stay here again in the future.
We had a wonderful time in your log home. It was easy to find off of highway 28. The instructions for keys and accessing the home worked without difficulty.Everything was functioning, clean and welcoming on our arrival. My daughter and her husband had no problems parking or hooking up their trailer to the RV access in the back yard.
Three of my grandsons were comfortable sleeping in the loft, two on the air mattress you provided. One grandson commented he thought the master bed and bath were better than a 5 star hotel! The grandchildren loved petting the horses in the pasture and watching the doe who hangs out in the backyard. They also enjoyed playing water games in the backyard,
We loved the atmosphere of your log home and hope to be able to return at sometime in the future.
Thank you for being such a welcoming host.
Our group of 4 was visiting from Oregon to run the Beaverhead 100k trail race, so we did not get to enjoy the cabin nearly as much as we would have liked. The home was perfect and very clean. The beds were very comfortable. The kitchen was well stocked. The grounds were very relaxing with great views of the mountains. All in all, a great place to stay if you are visiting the Salmon area.
This was an amazing Honeymoon spot for me and my Husband. The owners accomidated us and had a firepit ready to go when we got there. The Master bedroom was awesome, not to mention the tub and shower! Very Clean. The extra bedrooms upstairs are very nice and we hope to come back with friends next time. Everyone was very nice and helpful in town and Salmon is definately going to be our new vacation getaway even though we are all the way from California. Can wait to go back and raft North fork with Raw Hide Outfitters, not to mention the horse back riding they have too :D Had an amazing experience and cant wait to go back.
Google maps list Baker RD as Baker Lane and the address often comes up as South Baker RD. Direction from the town of Salmon: Go south on Hwy 28 approx 9 miles to Baker Rd., turn LEFT. The cabin is a few houses down on the right side.
