Great location with beautiful views!
We had a great 5 day/night stay at Binya House! The house was a perfect size for the 2 of us, but could have fitted more. It is located on a bluff over the soccer field, and has a fantastic view of Drake Bay. We loved sitting on the patio watching the local wildlife. Being in town, restaurants and stores are just a short walk away.
Debra was very responsive & helpful with the planning of our tours and trip. Alex was totally appreciated; he met us on the beach after we took the boat from Sierpe and he helped with day to day planning. Hank the neighbor was also informative & helpful.
Don't miss the Pelagic tour with Erick! It was a great day on the water, finding turtles and dolphins and other sea life.
The cottage had an amazing view. Alex booked all our trips which made the stay very easy.
Drake Bay was an amazing experience. We tried to do it all in three days, which I would advise against. Take at least one day to enjoy the cottage. The cottage had everything we needed. The snorkling tour was excellent, saw sharks, turtles and tons of colourful fish. Watching the macaws fly by the cottage was breathtaking. We saw a ton of animals in the park. The surrounding restaurants had great food. Overall everything was terrific.
Million Dollar View
We just go back from a week in Drake Bay staying at the Binya House. As far as location, for accommodations, you could not ask for anything more. The view from the back over looking the bay is not a million-dollar view but multi-million view. Spending time in the backyard is very relaxing with tropical birds such as Toucans, Macaws, and Parrots sharing the view with you. Drake Bay is a bird watcher’s paradise. The Binya House is well furnished and has a very nice kitchen when you don’t want to eat out. We ate half our meals in because most everything you get is fresh.
What really makes staying at the Binya House a bonus is you have a local tour guide, Alex, right next door. He can arrange for fresh fish and chicken delivered right to you. He took my wife and her friend on hikes to beautiful water falls, and to out of the way beaches, where the birds mention above were, but they had monkeys entertaining them as well. Also, there are night tours and zipline tours for those a little more adventurous.
If you are into scuba diving, Drake Bay and Cano Island are world class. Costa Rica is very protective of it natural beauty and the ocean is not exception. Large southern rays, eels, white tip sharks, and large schools of Jacks and other fish, were all common on my dives.
Debra, the owner. is very helpful in preparing you for your stay there as far what to bring and what to not bring. Worth every penny. If I could give it 6 stars, I would.
Thank You! We are so happy you enjoyed your time with us. You are great
Amazing remote village. Good restaurants nearby, excellent massage by Ana
Loved the fishing. Prepare yourself for relaxation, bring few good books. Amazing views from house. Thanks to Debra, Alex. & Hank for their guidance and hospitality
Very sweet home
Great caretakers, adventures & view
Great Jungle Bungalow
Our stay here was fabulous. We absolutely fell in love with Drake Bay. We observed beautiful scarlet macaos on the branches just outside the house. Drake is very remote and we appreciated the air conditioning to escape the humidity. Hank (the caretaker who lives next door) was helpful and available when we locked ourselves out in a rainstorm (oops!). We saw so many beautiful animals during our stay there. We caught a taxi up the hill upon arrival which was not necessary but nicer than hauling our stuff up the hill. Gringo Curt's and Claudio's were our favorite restaurants. If you're up for an adventure this house will be perfect for your stay. I am so thankful that we were close to the market and restaurants. It was only a few steps to the beach and every other activity drake has to offer. The house was nice, clean, stocked with essentials, and the location was perfect! Having some purified water on hand in the house was a nice touch and we so appreciated that! Wifi was a little slow, but fine for necessities. There were a few bug sightings in the house but hard to avoid because drake bay is so remote. This house (and Drake Bay in general) is for adventurers! Add "hike to san josecito beach" to your itinerary because that was one of our favorite things we did.
