A newer 4 Season Log Cabin Cottage with year round access nestled on the shore of Beautiful Chandos Lake in North Kawartha. This 3 Bedroom cottage and Seasonal Bunkie is on a quiet bay of Chandos lake, has a large dock for swimming, boating and relaxing. Interior is Modern/Rustic. Well suited for those looking for a waterfront escape or a winter retreat close to some of Ontario's best snowmobile trails. Included are a number of non motorized water crafts (Canoe, 4 Kayaks, Paddle Boat, Stand Up Paddle Board, 12ft Aluminum Fishing Boat), Snowshoes, Satellite Television, DVD player, Loads of DVD's, Board Games and outdoor games. The property and area has excellent cell reception with all providers. The Newly renovated kitchen has everything you need to prepare and serve a meal, as well a BBQ with Propane is available for your use. Cottage has central air and both propane furnace and indoor woodstove for chilly evenings. 3 Marinas on lake offering power boat rentals as well as snowmobile rentals close by in the winter. The back patio overlooking the lake has ample seating and a fire pit to enjoy the evening. The cottage water source is an onsite well and is potable. 2 hour drive from Yonge and 401 Toronto. The property is located just outside the town of Apsley where you will find Grocery, LCBO, Gas, Restaurants, a number of boutique shops, and some great golfing close by. Just outside of Apsley you can experience both the Gut Conservation Area (recommended for nature lovers and hikers) as well as Burleigh Falls; both ideal for a picnic with waterfall views. All summer full week listings are from Friday to Friday (Friday to Thursday nights when booking)


My property and area are best suited for families and couples. I am ideally looking to host guests that fit into these categories.

Guests to provide linens and bath towels.

Starlink internet and great cell service with most service providers. (Bell, Telus, Koodo all great, Rogers can be spotty at times). That will allow for easy hot spotting and ability to stay connected.

Minimum age for rental is 27

Lovely cottage!

Beautiful cottage and lake. We really enjoyed our stay and going out on the watercrafts. The kids loved the many blue jays and chipmunks. Great hikes in the area and small beach perfect for the kids nearby. Host got back to us quickly when there was an unexpected power outage in the area and was very attentive. Overall a great stay.

Great property, absolutely beautiful location. The cabin itself is very well stocked with appliances, dishes, and such. Very helpful summer guidebook. For those looking to go during winter, would recommend doing a bit of research before-hand, as Apsley seems to be a seasonal town. A winter guidebook would also be very helpful. Fantastic movie selection, easy to understand temperature controls, this cabin has that nice cozy feel through any season. Would love to come again during spring/summer! Cannot recommend this cabin enough!

Charming cottage

We had a great time at this lovely property. The setting, on a rock bed, overlooking the lake is beautiful. The cottage is well maintained and the owner went out of his way to make our stay a perfect one. My family appreciated the availability of water crafts, the private deck, heated floors and the well appointed kitchen. We came prepared with kitchen utensils etc. however the owner provides a large variety and we didn't need any of the ones we brought with us. Everything was there... The cottage is decorated in good taste, the bathroom has a luxury feeling and the movie collection makes any rainy day a great one. We hope to come back one day.

Great location to explore the Kawarthas

Steve our host was very accommodating & responded quickly to any questions we may have had. The cottage was easily accessible & perfectly situated by the the lake. Everything we needed was there. The cottage was well appointed with amenities. I would have no concerns recommending this location to prospective guests. Well done :)

Cozy family cottage

We spent a lovely Thanksgiving weekend at Steve's property. It's perfectly outfitted for enjoying family time together. With a well-appointed kitchen, outdoor BBQ and smoker (we brought our own pellets), comfy beds and perfect climate control, we enjoyed our time inside playing board games and watching the ball game, and outside taking a short hike down the road, sitting by the lake or roasting marshmallows by the fire. Thanks for making your property available Steve, we made some great memories there!

A slice of paradise

A delightful 5-night stay at this very peaceful cottage which is modern and has all the amenities including heated floors in the bathroom and kitchen. The shelves are filled with lots of games and books. Our awesome host made this first rental experience very easy through his excellent communication. Hope to come back again in the future.

Great stay at a wonderful property, and host.

Spent 5 days, 4 nights in Apsley at Stephen’s cottage, we had a great time and was provided with exceptional service. Stephen is a top notch host; great communication throughout. We attended the cottage right after the windstorm in the area which caused a power outage at the cottage, and throughout the weekend leading up to the trip, Stephen was providing regular updates on the status of powers at the cottage. Throughout the stay Stephen was attentive, and available for any inquiries and issues. Fortunately no issues arose, and the cottage experience was amazing. Very well supplied with DVDs, board games, water craft, bluetooth speakers in every room, cooking utensils, spices, etc. You will not be left wanting. Property itself is in great condition, recently renovated and provided us a great stay. Definitely recommend this cottage.

Beautiful, clean and well furnished

The place is beautiful inside and out in amazing lakeside surroundings. Steve was super helpful and attentive and quick to respond. The place had everything we needed and more with many little details making it extra special (such as including doggie treats, a spice cupboard that rivals my own, games, wood for the fire, etc.). The place was clean and updated and was so enjoyable for my family and me. I would recommend to anyone!

Quiet retreat in well equipped cabin....it was wonderful!

We spent three days celebrating a birthday, and spent days hiking and snowshoeing along the Crowe River and Eels Creek. This pleasant cabin was warm and comfortable. Heated floor was a bonus! Stephen, the host, was very helpful.

Outstanding Winter Cabin Experience

Very clean, modern yet warm and charming cottage. Ideally located, not too far of a drive from the city but also very quiet and serene. Stephen was a great host and made sure we were well taken care of. The snowshoes that were provided allowed us to walk through the thick snow and venture along the frozen lake, while the wood burning stove along with a huge pile of logs kept us warm. Also the heated floors were a nice surprise. Beautiful kitchen made making meals easy. Lots to do at the cabin, as well. Many board games, books and Dvds as well as a guitar made for a fun time inside and out (including feeding the many blue jays!) Would love to come back during the warmer months. 5 star.

Beautiful getaway

Another beautiful time away at this cottage. As always it’s a warm welcome and the property is immaculate and perfect. My son was thrilled with the abundance of movies and games and loved chopping wood lol. He fed the blue jays and squirrels and chipmunks all day too. I had a terrific time and can’t wait to return yet again in the future.

Relaxing and secluded

Unfortunately our fishing trip turned bad because the weather system shut the fish right off. Luckily this place is equipped with many games and Blockbuster movie closest for a marathon LOL! Stephen has this place set up so well, for a just incase things don't go as planned. I'm looking forward to rebooking and hitting some better weather to fish next time out.

Wonderful cottage on Chandos Lake

Had a terrific week long stay with my wife and some friends that were up for a couple days at a beautiful cottage on Chandos Lake. Great location on a quiet bay. Well appointed and furnished. Kitchen is new and has everything. Owner provides everything you could ever want from a cottage rental: water toys, modern dock which was great to sit out on and also dock the pontoon boat we rented, detailed welcome binder, movie collection, board games, waterside and up top high quality adirondack chairs, perfect fire pit, wood, BBQ, even items to feed the chipmunks and bluejays. Ease of VRBO rental process with detailed website and photos plus excellent communication from owner was greatly appreciated. Will rent again in the future. 5 stars!

Everything you need

Another incredible stay!

We just got back from another fantastic week at this property, this is our second visit and won’t be our last! I can’t say enough about how incredible the experience was from start to finish. Beautiful Getaway

Our stay was everything we hoped for and more ! The property was beautiful and the cottage was clean and came equipped with everything you would need for a great vacation! Perfection

I’ve stayed at this beautiful cottage twice before and hope to visit again. The owner is amazing and stays in touch to ensure everything going ok and to inquire if we require anything. He thinks of everything and the cottage needs nothing! Movies games books outdoor items kitchen supplies etc. Just love the time away and it’s the perfect place to be.

Perfect winter getaway!

We can’t say enough positive things about our stay - it was the perfect little getaway. The cottage was immaculate and Steve has literally thought of everything to make your stay as enjoyable as possible.... from the spice collection to the wall of endless DVDs. We visited during the winter so the indoor wood stove was a bonus and made for lovely comfy and toasty evenings. Highly recommend this place and we look forward to coming back!

What makes this property unique

Less than 10 mins to the town of Aplsey where you will find the most friendly people in Ontario and everything you need for your stay. LCBO, Grocery, Gas. If an avid ATV or Snowmobile rider you will find some of the best trails in Ontario around Chandos lake.
