Gem in heart of Dordogne

We were looking for a great property for our family of 5 with 3 adult children plus friend. The house did not disappoint! It was spacious and comfortable for the 6 of us and would easily accommodate 8 adult guests. The pool and garden are stunning with a large pool 5x 10m with gentle steps in and a depth of 1.50m across it was lovely to swim in and heated - a real plus. Plenty of sun loungers and not overlooked at all- with floats and a balls to play games. If you have small children it’s got beautifully designed metal fencing with a gate for safety. The garden area is so peaceful that you forget you are in the middle of a village only steps from the bakery, pizzeria, restaurant, art gallery, cafes and mini supermarket. Even has a Sunday market for fruit and vegetables plus cheese and meats etc There’s a beautiful patio with dining and BBQs just located close to the house with shaded canopy if needed. Beatrice snd Jean-Paul are super attentive if you have questions and the pool is cleaned each morning without you knowing anyone is there. The garden is landscaped with secure parking located at the end of the garden There’s a shower room with toilet upstairs and another on the ground floor with a separate toilet. Very helpful! (Bedding & 1 towel included per person) The house is full of beautiful collections & very French styling that we loved and the children loved the traditional kitchen complete stunning drinks fridge. It’s a fabulous place to relax!

Another great family holiday .

We stayed at this fabulous house in Daglan again this year after a great holiday last summer . Beatrice and Jean Paul have added a lovely covered terrace outside one of the bedrooms with sun loungers . Our grandchildren loved the heated pool ,trampoline and table tennis table . We ate at L’Annexe restaurant in the village which was very nice and it was lovely to walk in the morning to the boulangerie for croissants . The children loved swimming in the river that runs through the village and kayaking on the Dordogne river . Thankyou Beatrice and Jean Paul for a wonderful holiday in your home .

Peaceful and picturesque

We had a wonderful week here. The property is spacious and comfortable, and well equipped with all you could need. The garden and swimming pool are absolutely perfect. The house is situated in the centre of Daglan but is not overlooked. We spent a lot of time in the (heated!) pool and exploring the local area. There are so many beautiful villages and cultural activities on the doorstep. I couldn't ask for a more ideal self catering villa to explore the best of the Dordogne.

A really lovely break

The house was lovely, spacious and well equipped. Our (toddler) granddaughter loved the pool, which was enclosed and very safe. She also loved the trampoline. We enjoyed exploring the village and surrounding towns. Beatrice was very helpful beforehand - organising cot, bedding and high chair, and in giving directions. We would love to visit again.

Dordogne Villa/Butterfly House

We liked the villa, its garden and pool, and the village of Daglan, a lot. The villa is spacious, having 4 bedrooms and effectively, 2 bathrooms, and is well equipped, so ideal for an extended family - in our case, 2 grandparents, son and wife, and 3 children. We all made good use of the pool, children especially so, though just to note, the pool is not heated so water temperature is weather dependent. Daglan can provide most food needs, having a mini supermarket and a number of eating facilities. The Dordogne (river) itself is about 15 minutes away by car.Of the nearby bastides, Domme is the best known, and feels like it...quite crowded. Much preferred was Monpazier. And Belves where one can visit troglo/cave houses under the main square. Our only regret was leaving after just 2 weeks...

Very enjoyable stay in lovely village .

The house was well equipped and comfortable . All 4 bedrooms are upstairs and a good size along with a family bathroom with a lovely walk in shower (no bath ) and there is a second good shower room downstairs and a second toilet in the utility area .Pool was very nice and heated and securely fenced in and lockable which was very important to us with small children in our family group . Children loved the trampoline and it has a great garden to play in . Everything we needed in kitchen including a fabulous drinks fridge , good barbecue and lovely patio area to eat outside . Daglan village is delightful and you can walk for croissants in the morning to the boulangerie in the village and a very well stocked ,small supermarket is also in the village . We ate at the L’ Annexe restaurant also in the village which was nice but did lack any choice on a children’s menu. There is a cafe in the village to get coffee and ice cream run by a very friendly lady who was always pleased to see us . Beatrice and her husband were always available and replied to any questions we had very quickly and live nearby if you need them .Good Wi-Fi .We had such a lovely holiday we have booked again for next year .

A fabulous house with pool!

It is a lovely restored authentic French house, with a large garden and heated pool. Daglan is a beautiful village with 3 restaurants, a bakery and shop, all in walking distance. The house was cool in the heat (especially in the afternoons in late May/early June). Beatrice was very welcoming and friendly.

Amazing place to stay in middle of lovely French village. Very warm welcome by Beatrice and her husband. Garden is icing on cake with plenty of places to sit to enjoy the view . Interesting, cool and comfortable house with stunning gardens and beautiful pool

Beatrice is a fabulous host who answered my many questions both before and during our visit quickly. The house is large and airy, this was wonderful in the hot weather we experienced. Downstairs, the house is full of interesting and imaginative works of art and has plenty of space. The garden is beautiful and we ate many meals outside, enjoying the views. The pool was a highlight for us all, definitely one of the best I've seen in a holiday home! The views from this area of the garden are just stunning. Thank you Beatrice - we hope to stay again.

Perfect location for exploring the area.

Delightful spacious property with huge garden and lovely pool set in a quiet, pretty village. As the weather was exceptionally hot we spent most of our time in and around the pool. The garden has several shaded areas as well as a large patio. We enjoyed walking to the village shop for our morning croissants and eating delicious pizzas at The Annexe. The location is perfect for exploring the area and we enjoyed visiting castles, other small towns and the river Dordogne to swim and hire canoes. A peaceful, relaxing and comfortable place to stay.

Lovely holiday home in a beautiful French village,

My husband and I visited with our daughters, my mother in Law and my daughters partner. The pool and outside area is beautiful. The house is very French with lots of character. The village of Daglan is very pretty has a really good mini supermarket and a small boulangerie. We visited 2 of the restaurants both run by the chef Fabrice and all had excellent meals. The host is lovely and communication runs via Google translate. There is a fee per towel. Unlike other gites we have visited there are no ‘starter’ items such as coffe pods (senseo coffee machine) There was a welcome bottle of wine. As mentioned in a previous review the upstairs floor boards are very squeaky. The beautiful pool, gardens, seating area make the gite perfect for a family holiday.

Holiday with friends

Really beautiful, well equipped property in an delightful village. The garden and swimming pool are family friendly and also well equipped with lots of chairs, loungers and umbrellas. Comfortable beds. Really good shower (x 2). Plenty of room for the family to spread out or sit together. All very clean and looked after. Village is excellent, with a shop, bakery and restaurants a short (2 mins!) walk away. River swimming in the village as well, which was fun.

Wonderful!

What a find! Fabulous location in the heart of a beautiful village, with all you could possibly need to hand. Excellent communication from the hosts on all occasions. (This break was booked 3 years ago and had to be cancelled twice owing to Covid. Beatrice was superb in helping us re-arrange each time.) I am very grateful.

Gorgeous house, lovely village

Amazing stay in beautiful house and garden. Easy parking. Pool was lovely and kids loved the trampoline. Well equipped house, comfy beds, shutters on the windows meant no light so kids slept well! Daglan was a lovely village with a small decent supermarket, boulangerie and a couple of restaurants including a take out pizzeria. Could drive 20 mins and get to lots of main sights including sarlat, beynac, Castelnaud-la-Chapelle, Jardins de Marqueyssac, la roque gageac, Domme and many more we wish we had had time to visit. Helpful host through google translate emails. Would highly recommend.

Enjoyable 2 weeks in an excellent location

One of the best rentals we've had - warm welcome on arrival, clean and uncluttered house, well equipped. Location is excellent - in a quiet picturesque village but only 20-30 minutes of the main attractions. Lovely garden & pool and a nice and cool interior when it gets a little too hot. Yes, the floorboards upstairs are a little squeaky but it is a charming old house. Thank you to Béatrice for the welcome and quick reply to our questions. Family Reid (Scots in Switzerland)

Perfect Holiday

This house is absolutely wonderful and Beatrice was a fantastic host. The house was spacious and clean, and the garden/pool area is large and well maintained. The supermarket and bakery are a very short walk from the house, as are the two excellent restaurants. The village itself is gorgeous, and I strongly recommend anyone who comes here has a meal at Petit Paris - one of the best meals I’ve ever eaten. I’d love to return to Daglan and if I do I will definitely be trying to book this house again!

An amazing retreat in the heart of Daglan

We came to stay at Beatrice's house after spending a week camping so it was lovely to come and relax in a house with a private pool etc. We stayed with my brother's family as well, and the house was plenty large enough for the 6 of us- with lots of areas to chill out and relax together or apart. The kitchen is well equipped, with sharp knives and two large fridges so easy to store all your rose wine boxes! The town has a useful supermarket just a few hundred yards up the road plus a couple of restaurants so eating is not an issue. We BBQed a couple of nights at well. The floors in the old house are a bit creaky, so take ear plugs if you are a light sleeper. The rooms were comfortable and could be blacked out at night. The property has parking at the rear, with the entrance through the long garden. We enjoyed playing loads of ping pong and swimming- the pool was kept immaculately clean very early each day. One minor niggle- we had to pay for bedding in cash-which is noted on the website. Also, there was no soap, and only a couple of dishwasher cubes. Personally I'd rather have all these consumables included so I don't have to go and shop for small amounts of laundry stuff and soap etc though I accept that the house was a reasonable cost. Overall we loved staying here- there is loads to do all around the area and Daglan itself is a hidden gem with everything you could need for a holiday. Highly recommended!

Exceptional - not to be missed!

Absolutely wonderful property, with very friendly/ helpful owners, set in a fabulous location with the amazing La Cantine on the doorstep, with tremendous local dishes, and superb friendly locals! An ideal location for visiting the Dordogne region and tasting the Foie Gras, Confit de Canard, Vin de Domme etc. The pool is wonderful, the table tennis competitive and trampolining a bit scary! It was most relaxing in the evening with a great barbecue and a glass of red to soak up the ambiance. We had a great holiday and hope to return.... a beautiful property, everything was perfect

A great property ,the owners could not do enough for you. They were on site to meet and great ! They made a special effort for our Two year grandson with a cot and high chair etc The house is large enough for you not to meet other members of your party. Although you are in the centre of the village the only noise is from the church bells. You are a 5 min., walk to a choice of 3 eating places, a small but well stocked shop and a traditional French backers. The surrounding countryside is just wonderful ,you can cycle, walk ,canoe ,visit enchanting villages or just chill out by the swimming pool. A property not to be missed.

Beautiful interior with great character, fantastic outdoor space and pool

Lots of space to relax and lovely outdoor seating area for meal times. Everything we needed for two adults and 5 children. Days spent in the pool, on the trampoline or playing table tennis. Finishing off the day with a barbecue and a family meal on the terrace. All the bedrooms are nicely decorated and main living area is large and spacious. The upstairs balcony off the main bedroom was a nice surprise and a great way to sleep under the stars on a warm evening. Hope to go back one day.
