Have nothing but positive things to say about the place. Great location, quiet and comfortable. Hosts Rene and Patty are always gracious and available to help with any minor issues that might arise.
Nestled in a quiet and peaceful rural area roughly halfway between Auburn and Colfax, this is a great place to stay. Within reasonable driving distance of both the mountains and Sacramento, there's plenty to see and do if you're visiting the area. Cottage is very cozy, clean, and comfortable. Rene and Patty, the hosts, are very friendly and helpful and available if any issues arise. Highly recommended.
My stay at ponderosa pines cottage was short but sweet. At my arrival Patty the host was very nice she gave me a tour of her amazing little cottage in the forest. It was fully equipped with all the amenities of a cozy home . It well surpassed any of my expectations. I enjoyed a little bit of natures sweetest treasures like bird watching , a family of deers and a stunning sun set at the end of a day . Also i was able to take a quick hike that had all the elements of what I consider to be an excellent 5 star hike in Near by Nevada city. There was a long suspension bridge crossing over a beautiful stream surrounded by beautiful green pine trees and other trees. The trail was just enough challenge to keep you wanting to go further. At the end there was a small oasis of waterfalls and giant rocks surrounded by forest. Beautiful!! The icing on the cake was a very colorful sunrise at my departure it was like nature saying goodmorning and come back soon.

Thank you for enjoying our wonderful cottage and town. Being able to share this awesome place with a great guest is our goal.
Lovely little cottage ideally located in Colfax. It is a quiet and nice place. We were able to walk with our kids in the forest. The interior of the cottage is very rustic, well-designed, very comfortable, and well-arranged. We arrived late after 8:00 pm, and inside was warm, and cozy and the beds were ready and comfortable for my kids, my husband, and myself. We loved the way how the host left snacks on the table, juice, and sparkling water in the refrigerator. It is really nice! Also, We enjoyed the backyard - with a lot of leaves and quietness. We loved it so much, and we are sure we will return back every time when we will need that time to be away from work and city life. Thank you very much!!
This was one of the cleanest places we have ever stayed at. The owners are great folks as are many of the neighbors we met while walking each night. Great wildlife surrounds this great little cabin. We saw deer and squirrels everyday.
It is well appointed and the owners have thought of everything! The peace and quiet was so nice to come home to each night. The deck out back is great to sit on each morning with the morning coffee. We look forward to coming back!

About the host
Hosted by Patty or Rene
My husband and I are retired now and recently moved to the area of Colfax. Both of us being amateur landscape photographers makes this area the perfect location. We love the quiet and peaceful life here which makes it possible to garden edible and flowering plants. Sharing this peaceful property with guests who appreciate nature is our goal. Being grateful everyday for good friends and happy moments is what we love.
Why they chose this property
This is the best neighborhood, quiet and rural. The minute we saw this property we knew we had to buy it. It is like being on vacation everyday here. There are so many wild animals all year round and wildflowers all Spring and Summer.
What makes this property unique
Mature forest trees and two meadows. Every season some tree or plant blooms or leafs-out changing the look 4 times a year. Our climate is very neutral ranging from high 90's in the summer and low 30's in the winter. If you want to see really deep snow in the Winter Lake Tahoe and the surrounding ski areas are just an hour away, or in the Summer we have the American and Bear rivers and Lake Tahoe for all your water sports or even gold panning.
