About Debbie and Alan Piel
My husband and I love the Upper Peninsula. I've lived here my entire life and my husband has been here for 35 years. We love to hike, bike, ski, and just generally enjoy being outside no matter what the season. We love to meet new people and share our home. We invite you to join us in the great Northwoods for a truly peaceful vacation.
Debbie and Alan Piel purchased this Bed And Breakfast in 2000
Why Debbie and Alan Piel chose Watersmeet
We knew this was "our place" the moment we walked back to the property. We purchased it and began construction on our home the following year. We love the peace and serenity of this beautiful little lake and knew this was where we wanted to live for the rest of our lives.
What makes this Bed And Breakfast unique
When we sold our business and previous home we weren't sure what we wanted to do. We tried to move to the west coast but the Northwoods kept calling to us. We came home, built this house, and knew we would never leave. Our guests all seem to have the same love of the peace and quiet that surrounds our home. In the summer you can walk our gardens and walking trails, sit in the screened porch overlooking the lake, or take the kayaks out to see all the water fowl and otters that visit us daily. In the winter, you can cozy up tin front of the fire that's always in the fireplace, read a good book, and snowshoe or ski right out our front door to the 7 miles of groomed trails in the Ottawa.

The place is heavenly. So peaceful, beautiful setting, and the best hosts!
We couldn't have been happier staying here. The food, the environment, and the hosts were exceptional! This was by far the best B and B we have ever stayed at. We loved every minute and plan to return. Thank you to Deb and Alan, we felt like family and we were very comfortable, just like home!
Peaceful and relaxing in the north woods!
My husband and I enjoyed our peaceful and relaxing weekend. The breakfast is so tasty and 5 star rated. The hosts are very welcoming and made us feel right at home. The property is very clean and upkeep is immaculate. The woods, the pond and the flowers were storybook and we loved kayaking in the morning. We were able hike and see waterfalls very near the property. There are some very good supper clubs nearby. Debbie and Alan were very helpful in helping with our planning for the day. Our stay was perfect.
Thank you so much, Donna! Alan and I enjoyed having you with us and getting to know you. We also loved how much you got along with our other guests! It was a perfect stay and we truly hope we will see you again someday!
Peaceful Retreat in a Beautiful Forest Setting
Debbie and Alan have created a beautiful B&B where you can fully enjoy the woods in solitude. The B&B is beautiful with all the conveniences. You can use the B&B as a base for exploring Michigan or sit and read, enjoying the beautiful view out of every window. We will return. Rod and Janice
Thank you, Janice! We're still talking about the nice time we had with you. You were the perfect guests and we look forward to seeing you again someday!
Lovely proper on a secluded woodsy lake. Hosts were the best, warm and generous.
We had a great time, though our visit was short due to the schedule of our trip. The suite was comfortable and spacious. All the facilities were top notch. Our hosts were friendly, warm, generous, helpful, you name it. They served us appetizers and cocktails before we went out to dinner, and a breakfast the next morning that was not to be believed. If I am ever anywhere within 100 miles again, this is where I will stay.
Thank you, Jon! It was such a pleasure to have you and Steve with us, if only for a short time. We hope our paths cross again someday!
The perfect getaway for peace and quiet!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this exceptional bed and breakfast. A perfect place for adults to have quiet time, contemplation, taking in nature, and letting beauty restore your soul---this is it!! We will be back. The home is lovely, beds very comfortable, very very clean, and the breakfast is a 5 star. There is nothing these hosts could do better! Bring your walking shoes and bikes!
Thank you, Mary! We so enjoyed your stay with us! I love that you and Ellen enjoyed your ladies weekend!! Can't wait to see you both again!
Our brief stay with Alan and Debbie was by far our best B&B experience ever! They have a beautiful home set on an amazing property. They are more than accommodating! Breakfast was 2nd to none served in a cozy breakfast nook. We highly recommend this property for anytime of the year. Cross country ski and snowmobile trails out the back door. Their neighbors are the Ottawa Nation Forest. A true outdoor paradise!
