Nice stay, but the owner was very obtrusive.
I rented this property for my mother to stay in over Christmas. While the owner seems very kind he has some concerning behaviors. He required that I meet him the day before my mother came to "go over" the property. I have never been required to do this before and it made me very uncomfortable. He has a lot of cameras on the property and was texting me a lot about our comings and goings. There is also a camera in the main living area. He texted me daily about what to do and what not to do in and around the property. Meaning he was watching my mother very closely in the house. He even mentioned something about my mother's religion which requires her to wear special pieces of clothing. Which means he was watching her and what she was wearing every day. I think this behavior is very concerning and deplorable. I was very uncomfortable throughout the entire rental. At the end of my mother's stay, he texted me to tell me he was sad that we hadn't used the property as intended "to have fun". But how can you relax and have fun when you know the property owner is watching what you do every day? The whole situation made me so uncomfortable and weary that I would NOT recommend this property to anyone as the owner does not respect privacy and a need for relaxation while on vacation. I understand the concern about renting your property, but if you are concerned enough to text your guests every day about something not worth bothering anyone over and cameras all over your house, you should not rent your property to people. I should also mention that my mother is 77 years old and a very respectful guest. This level of texting, meeting requirements before the stay, and cameras is unnecessary, intrusive, and a concern for guests.
