AMAZING!

  • 5 of 5

Wow, is all I can say. Staying at Kathy's little mountain paradise was more than anyone could ever expect. Anything a person could ever need.....it's there! I only wish we could have stayed longer. The furnishings and décor consisted on antiques and art. It was colorful, fun, and homey. No need to pack a whole lot of food, because her kitchen was fully stocked with any spice, condiment, or cooking utensils you'd ever need. She even had a wonderful herb garden, so if you want fresh herbs all you had to do was go down and snip a few plants. We will be staying there again!

Wonderful stay in a delightful house secluded in a mature pine forest

  • 5 of 5

Our stay at Hansen Woodland Farm surpassed all of the other VRBO and the like vacations we have enjoyed. The house is very well equipped, we had everything we needed to just enjoy the setting and each other.

The house itself is a gem of a place with Kathy's carefully curated collection of decor pieces. We felt pampered and welcomed. Supplies were generous and plentiful. The fridge had us saying wow to farm fresh eggs and a gigantic bowl of fresh cherries!

Morning sun on the deck was splendid under a blue sky and a hummingbird flitting by. Eating breakfast while watching deer enjoying their's is a rare treat. Robins setting a nearby nest hatched while we were there. The bear I saw was a few miles up the road and added excitement.

Surrounded by the pines, we couldn't see the road and enjoyed being in our own world. The folks we met in the community are friendly and hospitable and Kathy is a wonderful host.

Quiet and relaxing

  • 5 of 5

This property surpassed expectations! A gorgeous home nestled in the trees with amenities you wouldn't expect. Flat screen, satellite, and wifi went unused because it was better to enjoy games on the deck. Haag cove was just ten minutes away for swimming or kayaking on the Columbia River. Cabin has everything and we arrived to a bottle of wine and treats waiting for our pups. The trails were beaufitul and peaceful. It was great to be able to throw some laundry in the day before leaving for less unpacking stress returning home. I strongly recommend this property if looking for some peace and quiet along with the perks of a modern home. Side note- no AC which is listed. We rustled up fans and ensured as soon as the sun went down we had those going to make for a comfotable sleep.. ..ps. fresh eggs were a treat and there are also deer that hang out by the trough set up on the property, gorgeous birds, and some turkey that like to roam nearby.

Beautiful, secluded and quite. Kathy has thought of everything you may require and then some. Kettle falls was a friendly town and Harvest Foods has all that you need for groceries. Lots of deer, wild turkeys and birds galore! Just sit back and chill in nature!

A true home away from home!

  • 5 of 5

To be honest, when I originally made my reservations for this property, I was extremely skeptical. I couldn't reconcile the pictures with the price. But as it was the only affordable option in the area - even cheaper than a hotel in Colville! - I decided to take the risk.

THANK GOODNESS I DID!

This house has everything you could ask for: a king bed, a queen bed, a day bed, a kid's bed, and more! Fully stocked kitchen, not only referring to cooking- and dish-ware, but also to items Kathy provides in the pantry and fridge. There's a firepit with tons of s'more supplies. Camping and rafting supplies. Dish Network if you need to unwind in front of the television (but why would you on this gorgeous property?). It is truly like walking into someone's home instead of into a rental property. It's the details (pain pills, first aid kit, fresh flowers, candles, impressive library, etc.) that make this home "homey" and a wonder to behold.

I'm skeptical, as noted before, and would never believe a property was 100% perfect, so I'll give you my two complaints:

1. The master suite upstairs contains the only bathroom, and there isn't a door between the bathroom and the bedroom, or the bathroom and the connected laundry room. It's one large, connected room. As I was traveling with only one other person, it wasn't a huge issue, but I'd hate to have my room get so much foot traffic if I was traveling with a group. Even if I were traveling with someone who slept in the same room, I'd hate to not have a bit of privacy in the bathroom if either of us wanted it.

2. I require 100% darkness when I sleep. I happened to be traveling during the week with the earliest sunrise of the year, which posed a major problem as none of the windows in the bathroom have curtains - again, no door - and the curtains in the master bedroom are opaque. This meant I was up with the sun (5 am!!) every single day of my vacation. Gross.

That being said, this property is definitely 5-star worthy and I'd say there again regardless of these issues.

Kathy was a wonderful, unobtrusive host. The property is beautiful. I only wish I would've planned an active vacation instead of a reading vacation so I could've taken better advantage of the outdoor activities the area has to offer.

Tip: Wait for sunset, fill the tub in the master bathroom, light the candles, and pour yourself a nice glass of wine. You won't regret it.

Owner's Response: Thanks, Beth, for the lovely review. I will be adding blackout panels soon for the windows. A door between the master bedroom and bath may take longer, but I will certainly be talking to a contractor. Thanks again for staying! Kathy
