OUR FAVORITE STAY EVER
Where to begin!?
Everything about this was a dream. It is difficult to find a place to stay with an infant under one year. But this was perfect for our family.
Even though we arrived late at the bus stop, Hideo was there to pick us up. Make sure to bring snacks and dinner after riding the Shinkansen and bus into town. Maybe something for the morning but if not, there is a cool cafe for the mornings if needed.
The property is charming and reminiscent of a time long ago while still having all modern amenities. If you forgot any necessity, the had it (toothbrush, brush, hair products, body products etc.)
Kyoto area was green, lush, and earthy. It feels like what westerners think of traditional Japan.
Beds were soft yet firm and comfortable to sleep two adults and a baby in the middle. Lots of blankets if needed. The house was decorated very cool!
There is traditional seating or western dining setting, the fridge / kitchen tools was perfect for our stay.
In the mornings we went on family walks around the town before adventuring on our custom tours Hideo created for us.
Our favorite was going to the fish market and purchasing fish to be cooked at the house that evening. Oh my goodness it was the best meal of the trip!!!!
He was able to show us the highlights of the area without feeling like we were tourists. In fact, most of the places we went, we didn’t see any American tourists!
Hideo and his wife treated us as family. We will be back and bringing friends! 💗💗

Amazing host, wonderful get away
The instructions for getting to the property were very clear which was nice. It's about a 90min bus ride from Kyoto and you get off at the Shuzan stop.
Hideo picked us up at the bus station and was nice enough to take us to the grocery store. We are vegan so picking up food was essential. It was myself, my husband and my 2 year old.
The house was large and spacious with a heater in every room and lots of English labels on everything. Hideo who picked us up and rents the property also spoke very good English. He gave us a tour of the property.
This rental can make for some very relaxing days if you want. They also have a local tour option which we did. We hiked to a waterfall, saw a temple, a shrine, some beautiful cherry blossoms, and a thatch village. He was sooo nice and accommodating as we were a bit slow moving with our 2 year old. Our kiddo had an itchy neck thing going on and he was nice enough to pause the tour and take us to the pharmacy.
The second day we went to some hot springs. He again went out of his way to explain things to us so we wouldn't be lost.
If you wanted to bring a traditional host gift I would recommend pecan pie.
Overall it was a wonderful experience and I would highly recommend it.

Great space, great host
The host was very helpful, organized, and communicative. Even with 5 people there was enough space, and the host was able to adjust the space well enough to accommodate. He gave us a great overview of what to expect as well. The space was lovely and easy enough to get to various areas around Kyoto, especially via the nearby Saiin station. I need a bathtub that can reheat the water in my life.

Find correct check in hotel - next to Nijo station
Check in hotel is right next to Nijo / Ni Jo (JR) station; need better instructions on where to find correct check in location. Physical location for this building is about 150 meters across the street (North) behind a super market (named - Kyoto Co-op super market). Great space, location, and washing machine for laundry / clothes; limited space to dry / hang laundry.

Modern & Traditional in Kyoto
This property has a balance mix of modern, yet traditional. We were in Japan for a couple weeks, and visited a few prefecture. This rental was easily our favorite.
We would definitely come back here on our next visit to Kyoto
