This place was really in the jungle, just like we wanted.
The Place was clean and were greeted by Jorge (?) who was SO nice and informative. Even though an Eco Lodge, we never had an issue of running out of electricity (although we conserved like they told us too). We had plenty of hot water for showers.
The internet was spotty, but we knew that coming in. We were surprised that there were not bugs to deal with. We sat out on the porch and picnic table with no problem. A "big plus" was getting to know Roberto who's family owned the Martz farm near by and had the ability to offer the Pontoon boat ride, horseback riding, and one of the cave tours. We got to see and hear the Howler Monkeys !!!! Was one of the highlights of our trip. Thank you April !!
It was a delight to have you and so happy to hear that you enjoyed your Rainforest adventure at the Treetops Guest House in our Better in Belize Eco Village. So great that you enjoyed some exciting tours and experienced the howler monkeys ! Please feel welcome to come back again. Thanks for being a wonderful guest.
Not just rustic-but shabby!
Not just rustic-but shabby! This property is 10 miles of dirt/rutted road that takes 45 minutes to traverse. When we arrived and finally found cabin-there was no way to enter. There is no cell service and no way to contact Jorge( who is wonderful!) we sat for an hour and a half getting eaten by bugs.. There could be hid a key or keyless entry to alleviate this issue. The house is small-with uncomfortable beds-threadbare covers-stained sheets. There was no toilet paper/trash in bedroom-no hot water in kitchen sink. No place to eat or get food nearby- you would have to drive the 45 minutes back out-so bring all supplies.. luckily Jorge had his wife bring us dinner. All power went out at 715pm. We had a tour of waterfalls the next day -which was great .. we would have left that day but didn’t want to tackle road at night. We left after 2 nights..( we booked for 5) We have rental properties of our own-we did not expect a palace-But don’t think amenities like power-comfortable beds-covers, basic toiletries, working oven/stove-dish washing soap is too much to ask especially when you are paying for it! We went and rented a house in San Ignacio and it was great!! We were very disappointed with this property..
A lovely break in the jungle
The last piece of road leading to Treetops is a bit of an adventure, but it is SO worth it when you arrive - the peaceful feeling of being surrounded by nature, the amazingly warm welcome of Robert and Christy, and the chance to see and hear howler monkeys and tons of birds far outweighs the need to drive carefully. The cabin is simple and has everything you need to really wind down. Our family of five LOVED the river tour and the Che Chem Ha Caves tour with Robert and his crew... his knowledge and passion for sharing makes all the difference and his sense of humour immediately put us all at ease. Take a headlamp or flashlight with you... it'll come in handy if you want to spend some time reading in the evening, as well, as the solar powered lights are sometimes a bit dim at the end of the day. All in all, I would highly recommend Treetops.
Kate, we absolutely loved having you to our Better in Belize Eco-Village and we are delighted that you enjoyed your stay at the Treetops Guest House! Glad you enjoyed some wonderful tours that added to your Rainforest adventure. Please feel welcome to come again in the future.
Wonderful Jungle Abode
We were looking for a jungle home for a family vacation for the 5 of us (all adults) and we found the perfect place. Howler monkeys were frequently nearby, starry nights were incredible, and beds were comfortable. Robert and Christy looked after us very well, and Robert's river "splash" tour was the highlight of our vacation. The location is remote, but San Ignacio/Succotz is about 45 minutes away (on a rather rough road - 4 wheel drive strongly recommended) with remarkable Mayan ruins. Recommend Benny's Ktichen in Succotz for great food.
Amazing stay at Better in Belize
Just returning home from a stay in a tranquil rainforest paradise at Better in Belize eco-village. We rented Treetops, a beautiful wooden cabin. Its name fits perfect as it backed onto the forest so I had my little piece of paradise in my backyard. There are three bedrooms all of good size and we felt like it was a home away from home with all its amenities. We had a nice outdoor private seating overlooking the forest. There were community gardens across the road.
Treetops is a great vacation rental for families with children. You can spend quality time together while exploring the outdoors.
The eco-village is great for sighting wild animals and birdwatching. There is also a lookout where you can enjoy the mountain view overlooking the beautiful Macal River Valley. It was so breathtaking and peaceful I just sat and enjoyed the sights and sounds. A tour company in San Ignacio offers pontoon boat waterfall tours on Vaca Lake there and also horseback riding in the surrounding mountains.
Am so relaxed after a great experience at Better in Belize, and I will most definitely return soon.
