This property was amazing for location. The large viewing windows with a view of the olympic mountains were awesome, and the place was well supplied with tools for cooking. Pictures are accurate as to what you can expect. Our family of 7 adults and 2 young kids were very comfortable with sufficient space for all. They do ask you to keep the heat at 20 so pack along slippers and extra layers if you get cold easily, but that did not detract from the experience. We would gladly stay there again in a heartbeat.
Beautiful We were 9 people altogether, including some serious cooks with serious skills. We made great use of that lovely well-stocked kitchen, appreciating it all while simultaneously drinking in the amazing view.

The property was exactly as expected from the photos - beautiful, clean, and with all the facilities you would need.Communication with the host was excellent, and they were very responsive and helpful. No complaints at all and I would highly recommend - we will stay here again when we are back in the area!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Otter Point House. Clean, well equipped, very comfortable beds and rooms, and the views are out of this world. We saw wildlife including Bald Eagles, Otters, and Seals. Close to Victoria, but also loved our drive to Port Renfrew….and the Port Renfrew Pub was amazing!
We speant three weeks at Otter Point House and loved every moment. The house is extremely well equipped with everything you need to make it feel like a home. The spaces are large and comfortably furnished
I stayed here with a group of friends in Dec 2024. It was clean, easy to access from Sooke, and the host was very clear and helpful in communicating everything we needed to know about check-in and rules. It's a spacious house with a beautiful view across the ocean from the enormous windows in the main room. The short walk down to the rocky beach is also very nice. I'd happily stay here again.
Such a beautiful place for our class reunion. Plenty of space, well appointed kitchen and beautiful views and wildlife spotting. Excellent location and communication with host.
The house and location were perfect for our family gathering of 7 adults 2 children and 2 infants. What a stunning setting! The downstairs bedroom and suite were ideal for the couple with the baby who screams at night...none of the rest of us heard anything. The large living room is gorgeous with its floor to ceiling windows overlooking the Juan de Fuca strait. We loved the deck and outside seating and went down and enjoyed the private cove. The kitchen is very well supplied. We were there on several hot days in early July. My only complaint is that not all the bedroom blinds were very effective. On the upside, those of us sleeping on the south side of the house were up for early morning coffee on the deck as the sky was turning pink...beautiful! Lots of parking. Thank you !
Spectacular views greeted us as we enjoyed our family gathering here. The property has a great layout; the bedrooms were comfortable; and the kitchen was well appointed. We saw whales, eagles, dolphins and sea lions- all from the property! And the private cove was a perfect place to fish, snorkel and paddle board. What a great place!
Very spacious house with amazing views. Plenty of linens, towels, and kitchen equipment. Quiet and nested in the woods. A seal came up on the rocks for several days for us to enjoy viewing. Host immediately responds to all email questions. If you like nature this is a great place to stay both for the stunning house location but also for hiking, biking, and kayaking.
Where do I start?! If you think these photos are stunning, they don’t even do this beautiful property justice! It is the perfect mixture of modern comfort and ruggedness of the ocean and beach - of course, including its own private stony beach to lounge by. The views were outstanding, and we even saw whales from the patio!
We arrived and I was blown away by how gorgeous, clean and spacious it was. I stayed with a group of 9 friends and we never felt crowded with the amount of bedrooms and free spaces to lounge and rest. Incredibly well stocked in the kitchen with dishes and cookware, seasonings and oils, teas and coffee, and condiments (unless perhaps left by previous guests - which was appreciated if so)!
The beds were very comfortable, and water pressure was nice for showers as well. Multiple spaces for outdoor access, including a private balcony with the master suite, balcony access on the main level, and yard/ground patio for those on the ground floor. The two suites with two kitchens made it more comfortable to store more groceries, as with a group, two fridges is ideal.
Check in and check out was very simple, and I always had prompt and professional communication from Fred prior and during our stay as needed. Would highly recommend staying at Otter Point, and I look forward to having another reason to come back again! Thank you for hosting us!
The views from this property are absolutely amazing! We had an eagle eating its catch right in the 700-year-old tree in front of the living room. The beds are super comfy, the house is very clean and it is stocked with all that you need. The welcome basket was a very nice surprise. We had a memorable girls' getaway and want to thank the host for our time here. We will be back!
We had a lovely stay at Otter Point House. The location was fabulous and the house a pleasure to visit. Well equipped in kitchen and bathrooms. Private beach was amazing. Perhaps a little tricky with small kids and the lovely artwork and sculptures but we managed to avoid trouble. Good communication with the property managers too.
3 days of meals around the big table cooked in a well stocked kitchen that has room for some to sit and relax while other cook (we like to socialise while prepping dinner).
Comfy beds (as long as you put smaller people on the Murphy bed), plenty of room for some to read and relax while other play cards or watch a movie. Good showers and lots towels.
The beach is remarkable!
Highly recommend

Wonderful property!
Very lovely and beautifully designed house. Spectacular views, and roomy enough for a large family. The location is excellent for connecting to many nature outings.
Six of us from Ontario exploring the island stayed here for 4 nights. Lots of room, we had everything we could possibly need, views could not be better, beds comfortable and showers great. A wonderful time was had by all at Otter House.
Fabulous location right on the water. Convenient just outside of Sooke where the cliff jumping at the pot holes is not to be missed. Great views from the great room, master, and decks. Saw seals and whales right out front. Better than a paid whale watching tour. Comfortable beds and furnishings. Had a wonderful time. Thank you for sharing this gem!
We really enjoyed our time in Sooke at The Otter Point House. The place was clean, in a quiet neighbourhood, and close to Sooke town which has all the necessary groceries and restaurants. The house was big enough to accommodate the large family comfortably. The wifi was great for streaming and working remotely. The highlight was definitely the private beach cove which we used on many occasions to have coffees by the water and stretch our legs. We enjoyed watching wildlife around the property like bunnies, bald eagles, and sea lions. We really appreciated the welcome basket with gifts and local gin. Fred was very responsive, and made sure our stay was comfortable. We hope to visit again soon. Thank you for having us.
Amazing stay as usual. We first visited OPH in September 2020 and were taken away by the hospitality, in addition to the orcas in the morning. Fred was very responsive, and welcomed us to the home with a welcome basket full of gifts and a nice local Gin. The home was clean and equipped with everything we needed during our stay. Would recommend anyone who is looking for a great relaxing getaway to book with Fred! Will definitely be returning to OPH. Until next time

My family and have many great memories over the years of time spent at Otter Point House. We look forward to sharing this special place with you to make some of your own life long memories
Hva gjør dette overnattingsstedet unikt?
There is an abundance of activities to do while staying at the Otter Point House.
Salmon Fishing. Experience the thrill of reeling in a 30 - 40 lb. salmon or battling a giant halibut, weighing in at up to 100+ lbs. Sooke offers some of the best salmon fishing in the world and is also known for its world-class halibut fishing. Many fishing charters are based out of Sooke Harbour Marina. Additionally you can rent fishing equipment in town and fish right of the rocks at Otter Point House. Otter Point Park is immediately adjacent and generally considered the best place to shore fish in the Sooke area. Whale Watching. Looking for an exhilarating west coast marine adventure? Jump aboard a whale watching marine tour. These tours depart from the Sooke basin and explore the Strait of Juan de Fuca in search of Killer Whales, Porpoises, Gray and Humpback Whales as well as a handful of smaller marine life such as seals, sea lions and various species of birds.
Dining. Though Sooke is a modest size, it punches above its weight for culinary options and offers a variety of dining experiences, from fine dining to pubs and cafes.
Beaches. There are many stunning beaches and parks to be discovered in the Sooke Region including the easy-to-get-to Whiffen Spit but if you would like to go on a bit of an excursion to find something more secluded, try a trip to Botanical Beach, China Beach, French Beach, Sombrio Beach, or Mystic Beach.
Hiking. Some of the best hiking on Vancouver Island can be found in the Sooke Region. Vast networks of trails, some many well marked, some not, can take you on an adventure through the rainforest, beaches or up along Hurricane Ridge and the Kludak trails in the alpine zone. Don’t miss Sooke Potholes Provincial Park, these natural pools are carved into Sooke River’s bedrock.
Biking. Sooke is poised to become the outdoor recreation capital of Vancouver Island- with mountain biking as the prominent jewel in its heavily encrusted crown. .
