The place had a sewer gas smell during our trip. There was some beach chairs that where junk and should be thrown away!

The Hanalei Colony Resort complex is currently in the process of updating and repairing the resort's septic system, which is the source of the smell you encountered. While unpleasant at times, it's necessary for the continued operations of the resort, and should lead to marked improvements once completed! We have made sure to dispose of the broken beach chairs, however, and we appreciate your heads up. Wonderful Stay

We loved the location. The beach access is amazing as well as the calm and less resorty and natural feel. Highly recommend!

We absolutely loved our stay. We’ve been to several of the islands and love our time away from the resorts and being more in the heart of Hawaii life. This location was absolutely perfect we felt like we were in our own little world and it had the perfect ocean breeze keeping us cool at night.

Great Getaway

Had a fantastic stay. Utilized the amenities (coin operated washer/dryer and very large swimming pool) and they were excellent and well maintained as well. Would gladly book and stay again!

Perfect Honeymoon Stay!

We absolutely loved our time at this vacation rental! The property was clean, quiet, romantic and in the best location right out of town and short drive or walk to all the beaches! Would 10/10 recommend for other couples looking for a great place to stay in Hawaii!

Lovely spot near great snorkeling

Hanalei Colony Resort, a few miles outside of Hanalei, set us up for great snorkeling at Tunnels Beach... the best part of our trip to Hanalei and Poipu. Our unit had a lovely view and the whole resort is quiet and comfortable... just what we wanted.

Paradise

This property was absolutely perfect for us. We love the rustic old Hawaiian style -If you are looking for luxury stay in Princeville.

Wonderful clean and comfortable

The unit and the property were both perfect! Staff were great too, as we were all dealing with some effects of a winter storm. We are going back as a family in the summer I liked it there so much!

Amazing location and view

Great location on the North shore, close to Tunnels beach. Beautiful view of the sunrise from the lanai. Nice to have the restaurant on site for a quick bite if needed. A little dated but everything else definitely makes up for it. Would come back again for sure.

We felt the unit was in need of repair. The sliding glass door screens were stuck. The silverware drawer was dismantled and had to be removed to access silverware.. Also, because this was rented from the renter, some of the privilege's, such as access to the shuttle service, were not available. The beech was within 100 yards and that was nice.

Perfect! Great Host and Place

We booked this for our anniversary and the host had a note and little gift greeting us to the place. The room where was outstanding – from the minute we walked in until we left. The lanai overlooks Shipwreck beach, and it was delightful to watch the sun rise every morning. We had everything we needed for a comfortable stay - very comfortable bed and we loved having the AC for our bedroom at night. We would come back to this unit on future trips.

If we failed to handle the guest's failure to check out on time with enough patience, we genuinely regret the lapse. We had a cleaning crew waiting in the parking lot for an hour and another guest checking in that day, so there was some stress involved.

I really enjoyed my stay at Hanalei Colony Resort, Unit C2. The location is perfectly situated right next to Kepuhi Beach and about a 30-minute walk to Tunnels Beach, which made it easy to enjoy the north shore at a relaxed pace.The café on the property was incredibly convenient for my daily matcha and bagels in the morning. While I didn’t have the chance to book a massage next door, I loved how close and accessible it was—both the café and massage studio are separately owned, which is nice to know.The unit itself was very clean and well organized. While it is on the older side, I found that part of its charm—it felt cozy and authentic rather than outdated. Management was friendly, helpful, and easy to communicate with throughout my stay.Having a laundry area and a water filter onsite was an added bonus and made the stay even more comfortable. Overall, this was a great experience, and I would absolutely stay here again.
