Great Location

Beautiful location on the beach, short drive into town and 20 minute walk to tunnels beach. Great view and place to stay.

Great location with a beautiful view!

Great unit with a beautiful view & nice location far on the North shore. Nice to have a restaurant on site if you need a quick bite.

Such an amazing opportunity to be right on the ocean! Very clean, great communication. If we ever come back to Kauai we will definitely stay here again!

We loved our stay! The location was amazing and the communication from our host/management was stellar. The unit was perfect for our family of three - 2 parents and a 9 year-old. It would easily accommodate a slightly bigger family comfortably too. A pleasant surprise was finding the on site restaurant back open - we ate there once and enjoyed it. The little cafe had great coffee drinks. We had rainy windy winter weather but watching the ocean from our beachfront spot was beautiful. And the pool and hot tub in the rain were still fun. Easy drive into town and to lovely sightseeing spots. Would definitely return, and have already recommended to another family.

Best location on island

There's no better place on Kauai. Beach front- quiet- bike to tunnels and snorkel... the best. For the price especially during the holiday this is the place to stay. We sleep each night to the sound of the ocean and woke up to beautiful sunrises. Highly recommend.

This place was just ok. Definitely not a resort.

We're so sorry the "resort" aspects of Hanalei Colony Resort didn't measure up for this guest (but that's not due to any issue with our specific apartment!). This is a small rather remote resort right on the beach on the far north shore. There's a pool, hot tub, restaurant, take out coffee shop, and day spa. It is definitely not a twin sister to the large high rise Kauai Beach Resort in Lihue. Guests expecting that will be disappointed. The buildings are small, low-profile, wood, and have blended into the natural landscape without dominating it or spoiling it since the late 1960's. We love it because of its lack of glitz and commercialism (not inspite of!).

Location and view is beautiful. Unit is tired and worn, bath towels stained, thin and needs replacing but saw a review from 2023 and they said the same thing. We were probably still using those towels. Teflon pans scratched and worn also needs replacing. Worn out carpets with stains. Doesn’t take much to replace those things to make it right for the amount it costs to stay there.

Vacation in Wainihia

Accommodations were great, clean, well organized, some recreational beach equipment provided in closet. Amazing sun rises and ever present ocean waves sounds. Check in and out a breeze. Close to everything on North Shore. Great time was had.

Tranquility

This was a hard place to leave! The proximity to the ocean was amazing. Easy check in. Great communication. Clean and comfortable property. So easy to sleep with the ocean breeze and waves lulling us to sleep. Great access to the areas hiking and beaches. Absolutely beautiful! Thank you!

There is no AC, but the listing notes this and many places in the north of Kauai do not have AC, but this should be advertised with emphasis in the listing/title. Overall, great, fun little place to stay.

Nice location for North shore

No thrills but easy drives to hanalei Bay and Tunnels Beach. Our place was right on the water and could just listen to the waves all night! Can't get into the water at this location but we knew that beforehand.

low key ocean front unit

it's a down to earth type place away from the big hotel feel. It was quiet except for a little construction next door. Love the view. Having the restaurant on site was a bonus. The Ke'e shuttle picks up and drops off in the parking lot if you pre arrange it. So convenient. Would definitely come back.

Reviewer Comments: We started every morning with coffee at the table on the porch overlooking the ocean, and one morning we spent about 5 hours just sitting and reading our books. Every evening we returned to that spot to enjoy a cocktail. We loved hearing the ocean at night through the open windows as we fell asleep. It was a great getaway, and we very much enjoyed our stay!

For our taste this is the place. If you want to sleep on the 10th floor and sit around a crowded pool this is not for you. Yes, the unit could use some updating but for location and atmosphere Hanalei Colony can't be beat. WE WILL BE BACK!
