Perfect Ohana Time

We were a party of & extended family members and stayed for 3 nights. The home was amazing! It was as advertised and well equipped with towels and kitchen items. Going to bed and waking up early to the sound of the waves was lovely. The best snorkeling is a short walk down the road and it is a quick drive into town.

Beautiful beachfront stay

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We had a lovely time at this beautiful beachfront home. The view is amazing. We enjoyed every evening on the lanai watching the sunset. There is plenty of equipment (umbrellas, boogie boards, etc) for enjoying a trip to the beach. There is some snorkel gear as well, and my son really enjoyed some excellent fishing right off the rocks behind the house. The kitchen is well-provisioned and the grill is high quality. My only complaint is a mismatch between property description and reality when it came to air conditioning. It’s Hawaii, and there are nice cross-breezes, so I’d have most likely stayed here even if the listing were accurate in saying that there is no AC. But the VRBO site does say that AC is one of the amenities for this property. So when we arrived and were told “you know there’s no AC, right? Sometimes people are surprised by that” it was in fact a surprise. Certainly that wouldnt impact our enjoyment of the vacation or this wonderful property. We went and bought a few fans (because it was actually pretty hot) and it was just fine. But the listing should be updated to reflect no AC. Otherwise everything was great. Location is very convenient. We would love to stay here again.

We did want to clarify the air conditioning concern, as the property description itself accurately states that the home does not have air conditioning. Unfortunately, on some third-party booking platforms such as VRBO, amenities can occasionally be displayed or categorized differently from the detailed information we provide in the listing. We certainly understand how seeing “AC” displayed as an amenity could have caused confusion, and we appreciate you bringing that to our attention so we can review how it is appearing on the platform. Most importantly, we’re very happy to hear that this did not take away from your overall experience and that you enjoyed the home, location, and beautiful ocean breezes. Hawaii in November

Beautiful location. We spent almost 100% of house time on the lanai, beautiful sunsets every night and the hot tub was perfect. Saw turtles dolphins and sharks! Snorkeling was convenient right off the lava in the backyard of the house. Totally recommend if you are experienced swimmers, rocks and current can be a challenge. There was a problem with the dishwasher and the repair was made within hours of our request. Very friendly professional management team. We were met at the house upon arrival which was helpful for general questions - Will definitely return!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This is great house to rent for your trip. The views from the porch are breathtaking. We saw dolphins and multiple fish. The house is in a great location. Loved that there was a grocery store right up the road. There is a harbor 5minutes away to go see the manta rays at night and snorkeling tours. Downtown Kona is 15min away. The house has beach towels, ice chest, beach chairs, snorkeling mask and boards. No need to rent any beach materials. Kitchen has all the dishes you need and cooking supplies. Bbq works great also. You can’t beat the view eating outside at the table.

Big Island Sunsets

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Just stayed in this beautiful home for 3 weeks with my family. We spend a lot of time in Hawaii on different islands, usually for extended stays of 3-4 weeks....this was the best house for sunsets we have ever had and the location directly on the ocean allowed us to listen to the water crashing all night on the lava rock. We had dinner every night on the lanai and watched the sunsets. Hot tub was a big plus.The house is in a perfect location...there are a couple of nice beaches very close with surfing available, downtown is a 5 minute drive, golf course is within a couple of miles. There is a large supermarket within a mile. Easy access to other beaches if you want to explore by car. You can snorkel right out back of the house if you feel comfortable getting in the water off the lava rock. My son did some spear fishing out there as well.House was clean, well-kept. There is no AC (other than a single unit in main living area which we rarely turned on), but most nights were very tolerable with windows open and fans on. Nice breezes off the water.Property management company was very responsive with periodic texting to check in and reminders to take out the trash. The only maintenance issue we had was the outdoor grill not working, but they replaced it the next day. My only complaint was that there was only a single beach chair available.We’d definitely recommend this house.

This property was incredible. Our group of 7 stayed at this property and found it to be outstanding in every way. The location of the house, could not have been better. You are close to beach access, restaurants, grocery shopping, access to the southern portion of the Big Island if that's what you are looking for. We loved it. The house sits directly on the water in Kona, we loved sitting in the hot tub after being in the water, spending lots of time eating and playing games on the large deck that has good seating and good lighting for enjoying the space in to the evening. We had no problems with the property but had to ask questions of the host a couple times and they were extremely responsive and helpful.We used the kitchen a lot, cooked meals and the kitchen is very well stocked with everything you need and very easy to navigate.The house was stocked with lots of towels, a washer and dryer and plenty of bathrooms. Can't recommend this property highly enough.

This is a wonderful waterfront property with a spectacular view! Overall, it was very accommodating for our group of 9 adults and one toddler. Most of our dining was on the spacious lanai that ran the length of the entire house, just a stone's throw from the Pacific! The lava rock entry behind the property can be a bit challenging (best not attempted unless you are a strong swimmer), depending on the swell and tide, but the snorkeling is impressive, and a 10-minute paddle will get you to a small surf break. There is a nice, reef-protected snorkel area (Kahalu’u Park) about a 10-minute walk. The kitchen was well-stocked, but could use more personal sized bowls. The property mgmt co. was responsive to our requests. The coffee grinder was not working, so a new one was delivered forthwith. Now, for some needed improvements. The beach chairs were actually cheap, uncomfortable, rusted steel "camp" chairs; heavy and difficult to carry. Many of them were unusable. Two out of the 4 umbrellas were unusable. We have stayed in several short-term rentals all over the Hawaiian Islands, some much less luxurious and with a lower price per person; nearly all had the nice Tommy Bahama (or similar) beach chairs. These are readily available at the local Costco (approximately 50). The property mgmt even requested that the unusable chairs and umbrellas be replaced with Tommy Bahama, the property owner denied it! Very miserly and short-sighted considering the rental cost of this property!

It's also great to know our team was able to respond quickly by replacing the coffee grinder during your stay. We appreciate your suggestions regarding the beach equipment. While we certainly understand your preference for Tommy Bahama-style chairs, the beach chairs and umbrellas provided are selected and approved by the property owner. We routinely communicate guest feedback and replacement recommendations to owners, but ultimately decisions regarding furnishings and amenities are theirs to make. That said, we do regularly inspect the equipment, and any chairs or umbrellas that are no longer functional are removed or replaced. We appreciate you bringing your observations to our attention, and we'll continue sharing this feedback with the owner as we strive to enhance the guest experience.
