Chatham Cottage på Lake One Mile til Ocean Strande

Thank you Bart. Cape Cod gets really crowded during the summer months. Many people enjoy the fall. The water is still warm and the crowds are gone.

Thank you Patrick. I am glad you enjoyed the cottage. My neighbors are very nice people. We are very blessed.

Michael I am so happy you and your wife had a wonderful anniversary holiday at the 'comfy cottage'! Here's to many more!!!

Thank you Mickey for your kind words. I am so happy that you and your family had a wonderful holiday at the Cape. Hope you have a great summer ⛱️ !

Doreen thank you for your kind words. I am so glad you had another great holiday. See you next year!

Thank you Christopher!

Barbara I am so glad you and your family had a wonderful vacation. I hope you made some good memories and caught some fish in the pond too! Your review was spot on. Our cottage is the old fashioned Cape beach cottage. No frills just fun. My wife and I like your suggestion to put a large TV in the kitchen for the family to enjoy together. We just have to figure out where. Stay blessed!

Thank you Jacqueline!

Hello Amanda. I am so happy to hear you had a wonderful vacation. Thank you for your kind words. Thank you for the information on the distance to the ocean beach. We usually go to Harding's beach which I think is the closest salt water beach to the cottage. I will update our website to reflect the distance from the cottage to the beach. Nothing like a good walk to the beach to start the day. I hope you your family a have a great summer. Cheers Paul.

Barbara, Good morning! I am sorry you did not have a nice holiday at our cottage. Obviously it was not a good fit for your expectations. The Chatham Bars Hotel is the nicest place in town and they rent free standing cottages which are beautiful. I recommend them to you. You have to make reservations in advance. I am addressing all your comments as I do not want to disappoint any guest. Everyone deserves a great holiday. Thank you for letting me know you were not happy with the cleanliness of the cottage. I called our cleaning service and bug exterminator. I told the cleaning service that one recent guest was not happy with the cleanliness of the cottage. She assured me she will make sure it is spic and span for all future guests. Both the cleaning service and the bug exterminator will monitor the cottage. If there are any bugs inside or outside I will know and the cottage will be serviced again. The cottage has external and internal insect treatment twice a year annually. The shower in the children's bedroom is standard size. The outside shower is over sized, has hot and cold water and night lighting. I am a 5' 11'' man I prefer the larger outside shower. It is lovely. Showering at night 'l fresco' is lovely. I called asked the cleaning service and asked if there was a bad leak in the kitchen sink. They assured me there was not. But I will have the the sink inspected and repaired if necessary. Lastly I can assure you there is no mold on the master bedroom ceiling. The ceiling wood boards have been bleached white in some areas by the cleaning service which has done an exceptional job cleaning the cottage in response to the Covid Pandemic. I can understand how a guest may misconstrue the white bleached ceiling boards as mold. But I can assure you and any guest that, as you say, "mold as that is a health hazard and could be detrimental to a person with a compromised immune system." is not at risk. I will have the ceiling boards resurfaced. You are right ... the property is old. It was built in 1929 by a Portuguese fisherman who retired from the dangerous occupation of fishing and decided to build summer cottages for Bostonian's and world travelers. The cottage is one of a handful of three season cottages remaining in the Town of Chatham. There are so few left that the historical society of Chatham has contacted us and asked asked us if we would like to our cottage to be listed as a historical landmark and be protected by the Massachusetts historical preservation laws. Once they are gone ... there will be none left. A period of simple living and summer retreat to Cape Cod beaches ... will be gone forever. As you have seen, by staying at our cottage and viewing the pictures on line, we have updated our cottage. We are still considering the historical society's request. Thank you for reviewing our cottage. I hope you have a safe and lovely summer. Sincerely yours, Paul Witik

Sarah and Bill, Thank you for the five star review! I can happily report that our neighbors have completed their new home and it looks great. We took your advise and purchased all new linens and blankets for the cottage. They look nice and are comfi too. Hope you can visit again soon. Sincerely yours, Paul

Liza and Daniel thank you for your kind words. I am so glad you and your son had a wonderful, restful week at the cottage. Sounds like you had a lot of fun exploring the beaches and the local nature sites. Hurrah! Every season is different but fall has a quiet beauty and is peaceful. The Tea Pot you requested will be forevermore at the cottage waiting to warm you. I hope you will come back and enjoy.

Mark thank you for your kind words! Am so happy to hear you and your family count the days to summer vacation. I did as a child and still do!
