David met us at the ferry and took us grocery shopping and to the jeep rental before leading us to the property. We were delighted with the sense of solitude - only the insects, frogs and birds for background music. We had a million-dollar view - we could see the beautiful bay framed by green trees and vines. The unit itself is very basic but clean and has everything you need to get you ready to enjoy the little private slice of beach or to go next door to Cinnamon Bay or Trunk Bay or anywhere else on the island. We had no complaints about the bed or linen supply. Some visitors have a problem with the steps down to the beach but if you are healthy and reasonably fit, it is a descent to paradise on beautiful stone steps. Just hang onto the railing and then relax and enjoy the exercise on the way back up! The unit is 40-some years old and feels like it is at home nestled on the hillside - old-time island life. We loved it. We did rent a jeep, so we had the run of St. John and enjoyed every minute.

Beautiful Location in St. John USVI

What a beautiful location! Really enjoyed our time at Denise and David’s property. The view ..... just wow! An awesome view from every window. Wonderful communication with the owners. Denise met us near the ferry terminal and brought us to our Jeep rental location and then to the grocery store. We then followed her up to the property. Had a fabulous time!!

Honest Review

To begin with David and Denise are wonderful people and hosts. With this being my 4th trip to the USVI dating back to the 1980's this has been a progression of trying to find the perfect spot for my wife and I. The accommodations as listed are accurate, quaint and clean but the description and pictures shown of the beach need to be updated. Since the hurricanes of 2017, Irma and Marie, much of the beach at the property is not there and the damage to the coral for most of St. John is extensive as compared to the 1980's. Secondly, the walk to the beach is not for anyone with any kind of compromised mobility (knees or hips) as the grade down the driveway is very steep and the steps to the beach are difficult to maneuver. There is also the construction of David and Denise's 4 BR Villa that is on the beach which you will have to contend with but when finished later this year will be one of the finest on the island. With that said their place is an excellent starting point for reaching the other beaches in the Park. We would begin our checkdown at Trunk and if full would go to Hawks Nest, Cinnamon and Francis Bays. I would recommend having portable beach chairs and a canopy as sometimes the shady spots on the beaches are all taken. Driving and parking does poise a challenge but can be navigated in a Jeep and being easier if you have any off road experience and understanding 4WD in rainy weather. Overall we had a wonderful time at David and Denise's.

A slice of Paradise

We love St. John- it is truly a magical place. David and Denise were the perfect hosts, and our Suite was very comfortable and well equipped. Very spacious with the most beautiful view from every room. David met us at the ferry, brought us to our Jeep Rental and took us to the grocery store in Cruz Bay for anything we needed. We loved the private beach and seeing the turtles right there while snorkeling. We enjoyed coffee each morning on the large outdoor porch. This is the perfect location for enjoying all the North Shore beaches. We ventured out to Coral Bay (not a far drive at all) a couple of days.We are already planning our next trip. Thank you so much, David and Denise

Little piece of paradise

We really enjoyed our stay at Peter Bay. David met us at the ferry, lead us to Starfish Market for groceries, then we followed him to the property (which is necessary). This property is located in the middle of all of the amazing north shore beaches of St. John. Trunk Bay is a couple minutes west, Cinnamon and Maho are a few minutes east, there is no other place to stay on the island with this kind of access. Although the beach access for this property could be challenging for some, it’s well worth it. There is a steep driveway and a set of stairs required to access the beach, but you will likely have this amazing beach to yourself. The bedroom & bathroom area of the unit are air conditioned, the kitchen and entryway are open air, this is typical for the island. There’s no TV or radio to distract you from the sound of the frogs that put you to sleep at night. My wife and I recommend you book this place if you are looking for the best and most relaxing week of your life, with easy access to the most beautiful beaches on earth.

Return to St. John

My wife and I returned to St. John for the first time since 2017. We are semi-retired and were looking to relax and celebrate a positive diagnosis after over a year of battling cancer. Suite on the beach was a very good choice as the views are beautiful, the beach quiet and a short walk down the hill. David and Denise are wonderful hosts.

Not a ‘suite on the beach’

Because of health reasons this year, our most important reason in a property on the island of St John, which we had visited many times, was being close to the beach. The description said it was 30 yards to the beach. Instead, it was at least double if not triple that distance. It was walking up a very steep hill, then down an even longer steep hill, then down 62 stair steps. And of course the same distance getting back up to the property. We did have a very nice view from this property.

Absolutely incredible

We have been to St John multiple times and this trip was absolutely our favorite. The location of the home is spectacular. It’s an easy 3 minute walk to beautiful Peter Bay Beach. We ended spend time there daily either as a great way to start our day or to end it. We saw many turtles, starfish, octopus and a variety of colorful fish snorkeling right in front of the house. David and Denise are fantastic host. David was our main contact and he was kind and very helpful in making sure our trip was all we had hoped it would be. We will 100% be staying at suite on the beach during our next stay…oh I forgot to mention the view is gorgeous and it’s awesome sitting on the balcony watching the boats go by. Book it. You will love it.

Spectacular View and Great Hosts

"Suite on the Beach" afforded a spectacular view of Peter Bay and beyond from the porch. The suite was very clean, well stocked, and the evening chorus of tree frogs was quite interesting. The secluded beach, accessed by path and stairs, had very good snorkeling and swimming. Denise and David, our wonderful hosts, were very knowledgeable about the island and gave great suggestions about its many gorgeous beaches, hiking trails, and restaurants. Dinners at 18*N 64*W, Morgan's Mango, Ocean 362, and La Tapa were all enjoyable. To enjoy a pretty view, make advance reservations at Ocean 362 and La Tapa for a table before sunset. We rented a jeep for our stay. Snorkeling each day of our trip accessed from different beaches on St. John sometimes snorkeling from one beach around to another was quite beautiful. We certainly hope to have the opportunity to return to "Suite of the Beach"!

Amazing and perfect!

The location was perfect. The accommodations were perfect. They were amazing hosts-so kind and friendly and knowledgeable and helpful. They pick you up from the ferry help you get to your rental and "around" upon arrival-take you to the grocery store and then to the location. The walk down to the beach is short but steep. Loved being able to go down to beach and sit in lounge chairs reserved for us at any time. Especially morning. It is stunning. The beach, the house, the views, the location, the hosts--I really can't say enough good things. Leaving was the only bad thing. We will be back!

St. John Gem in Awesome Location

The location of this place is perfectly located just off north shore road just outside the national park in center island. From that location you can be at all the gorgeous beaches (Cinnamon, Maho, and Trunk) within 10 minutes allowing you to beat any crowds or return for late afternoon when most everyone is gone. The location is only 20 minutes from Cruz Bay for dinner and shopping. The best perk of all is that the owner meets you at the ferry, takes you to pick up your rental car then on to the grocery store and the property. Finding a rental property initially on an island is stressful due to the lack of signage, especially after a long flight. Denise and David are wonderful owners. Will be back.

Beautiful Location!

What an amazing week we had at the Suite on the Beach! It is the perfect suite for two, with a comfortable bed and lovely sitting spots on the deck. The view is spectacular, and the beach is truly private. Peter's Bay is a handy spot for exploring the National Park, but also close enough to Cruz Bay for dinners out. You definitely want a jeep, as the roads are steep and curvy! Denise and David made us feel totally at home, meeting us at the ferry, driving us to the jeep rental, leading us to a grocery store and then guiding us to the house after a long day of travel. Thank you Denise and David, we hope to be back!

Eating out on the deck was bug-free, likely thanks to all the frogs chirping (and eating!) in the nearby trees. Looking out on the water, feeling the warm breeze, was fabulous! Also, comfortable bed and great shower.

Quiet beach access

This was our first stay at Peter Bay and the suite on the beach was perfect for beautiful views, a short walk to a beautiful / quiet beach, and a quick drive to explore other beaches / trails or for dinner in Cruz Bay.

Tropical Wonderfulness

Following a warm welcome to the island and a review of the property by David, we quickly realized how tremendous this property was. The views from the private patio are spectacular. We took advantage of the direct access to the scenic secluded beach daily. Speaking of beaches, the Peters Bay location provided a great jumping off point for all the beautiful northern beaches. The unit itself was nicely appointed and provided the privacy we were looking for. We plan to be back!!

Amazing views!

We stayed for a week and had an amazing time. David met us at the ferry dock, drove us to pick up the Jeep, let us follow him to the grocery store and then escorted us to the house. The views are outstanding! Loved drinking coffee out on the patio each morning. The private beach is a short walk away and gorgeous!!!

Little Slice of Heaven

This was by far one of our favorite vacations! I would go as far as saying that the description is inaccurate because it doesn't capture the beauty and peacefulness that this property offers! It was so wonderful being able to take a 2-3 minute walk down to the beach each morning and have it completely to ourselves. We enjoyed exploring Cruz Bay and had no trouble getting open air taxis to do so. David and Denise were absolutely amazing and we can't wait to book our next trip here!

Owners David and Denise were married on St. John in February 2009 after having visited the island numerous times previously while on vacation. David is originally from Chicago, but grew up in Toronto, Canada. His background is in real estate development and property and hotel management. Denise is from Toronto, Canada, and has a background in high-end retail and customer service. Both enjoy travel, food, music, wine and of course – the beach! They also own and operate a small boutique hotel on St John - 'Hotel Cruz Bay'.
