Holiday rentals near Tomi Ungerer Museum

First time visit to the Bas-Rhin region and based in Barr was perfect to reach all places. Gite Le Léonardo was a perfect apartment. We had a two week holiday at the Gite. Everything about the gite was great quality and it was very well equipped. We were met by Henry (the owner) who explained everything to us and told us to contact him for any issues during our stay. Special mention to the beds which seemed very new and were very comfortable (very much appreciated after many days walking around towns, villages and the countryside). The apartment is within 5 min walk of the town of Barr which is a delight. We ate several meals at the local Winstub restaurant serving traditional Alsacian food. We also enjoyed buying food at the local markets and cooking in the gite. Very nice touch that Henry and his wife Madeline left some lovely gifts at the start of the holiday. Especially delightful were the home made configures. Would not hesitate to recommend the gite

We stayed here in August for two weeks, with our two children (12 and 14). Apartment is very bright and airy and has pretty much all you could want. Plenty of space, good WiFi (appreciated by teenagers!) and a decent sized balcony. Only improvements I would suggest are fixing the extractor fan in the main bathroom which fell off by itself a couple of times and also the kitchen tap, which only seems to spray water, like a shower. Other than that, it's perfect! Location is very good, 10min walk to tram station then approx 15min into central Strasbourg. Also plenty of shops/bakeries within 5min car journey (probably walkable if you fancied it). Also excellent bus service right opposite the apartment block. French public transport is light years ahead of UK public transport and much cheaper, we were very impressed. Car was safe and sound in the underground garage (bit of a squeeze, we have a mid size estate car, but do-able). We visited so many places, local lake beach was great, Europa Park theme park in Germany and the water park Rulantica were fantastic, less than an hours drive and better than Disneyland Paris in our opinion. Lovely visit to the castle Chateau du Haut-Koenigsbourg, Baden-Baden very pretty. MM Park war museum well worth a visit. But best place of all has to be Strasbourg. We visited many times, including by hired bicycles from the tram station. Amazing city, beautiful and so much to see and learn. We loved our stay, beautiful weather and we didn't want to go home!

Two fantastic weeks spent at this gite. The accomodation is faultless: recently renovated, spotless and modern inside with a relaxing terrace and its own garden. Everything has been thought of to ensure a positive experience. The owners really went out of their way to make our stay as enjoyable as possible, providing information on some great locations to visit. Beautiful landscape and forests providing great hiking and walking trails. We made several trips to Strasbourg (30 minutes drive) which is a very beautiful city with lots to do, aswell as more local villages and towns including Marmoutier and Saverne. Easy access from Calais (about 4 hours drive) One of our "top" holidays in France and one we will be definitely repeating in the future. Thankyou very much!

Yup all those other reviews are right! The love and commitment that have gone into rebuilding this house and making it into a place to really relax and pamper yourself just shine out of every little corner. Our two teenage boys were not impressed when we told them we were going to be staying in a traditional Alsatian house, but they were totally won over as soon as when we got there. Not only was there the 'incontournable' wifi, but also an amazing luxury shower, comfortable beds and the piece de resistance.... a baby foot table. They even appreciated the pretty garden and we actually caught them reading a BOOK!! You can walk straight from the front door out into the surrounding countryside and forest, but 5 minutes drive gets you to a large supermarket. Saverne is really near and Strasbourg isn't too far either. I particularly enjoyed a trip to nearby Marlenheim to celebrate the 'marriage of L'Ami Fritz' - a great excuse to eat and drink too much of the local produce! Thank-you so much Nancy, Franck, Colline, Martin and Jean for all their hard work. They made us very welcome and we will definitely be back!

Apartment had everything you would need for the week to be comfatable. Lovely space outside with play equipment which my two children loved playing on. Owner was chatty and friendly, and helped out where he could. Balcony was my favourite and we loved spending the evening there and the view is amazing, this is certainly the part I will miss when I get home. Area is good,quiet and near to bigger towns, offenburg is a really nice town with lovely resturants and cafes. Would definitely recommend and would come back again.
