Great villa and area.

Lovely Villa in fantastic location within 5 minutes walk of Almyrida. First time to Almyrida and would definitely come back. Abundance of good quality restaurants along the waterfront and the beach is great with very safe bathing. Villa is well equipped and has lovely private pool area and several balconies and terraces with mountain views. Hosts were very helpful and friendly. Highly recommended.

Our 2nd time at this lovely Villa! Spacious accommodation, with spectacular views on the balconies. Walking distance to the beach and great restaurants and bars. Can highly recommend.

Lovely Villa, Great Location

Sept. 2023 Thank you Jan and Dimitra; also Kaiti and the team. We had an excellent stay. The first time having our own villa and pool, what a treat! The villa was beautifully decorated, spacious and very clean, with all the amenities. There was plenty of space outside for sunbathing around the lovely pool and also garden areas where we picked limes off the trees for our G & Ts. The area was private but only 5 minutes from a great choice of restaurants with the best food and a lovely beach area. All this was handy for us as we did not want to hire a car. We booked a taxi for a trip to Chania which was a lovely day out but there is also a bus service available. It was lovely to meet you Jan - what a great guy. Jane and Mark xx

Wow!! Where do I start? It’s actually much better than the description and the pictures do justice,it truly is a magnificent villa within a 5 minute walk of some of the finest restaurants I have ever eaten at,and the beaches are superb ( especially the little beach at the top of the village by the Tsunami cafe,at that beach is also fantastic for snorkelling.Lovely friendly locals and Jan our host is one of the nicest people we have ever met,the perfect host and was easily contactable when we had a small problem. People,go and visit this villa,you won’t be disappointed. Thanks Jan and the team for the perfect holiday. Andy & Family West Sussex England

Beautiful Villa, Great location!

Just home after 13 nights at the beautiful Villa Varvara. So much outside space and of course the pool. Surrounded by Olive trees, lemon trees, herbs, plants and flowers. Villa is in a fantastic location just outside the village of Almyrida. It truly is a 5 minute walk to the beach, restaurants, shops and water activities. Definitely do not need a car. Almyrida taxis are reliable and clean for airport transfers or a supermarket trip. Jan is a real treasure of a host and was thankfully forgiving of our clumsy teenager 😆 Would definitely recommend a stay!

Great villa

Wonderful villa, by far the best equipped villa we have ever had. The pool area was also well equipped with plenty of loungers and tables and chairs. Very convenient position as only a 5 minute walk to the bakery, shops and restaurants. The beach is sandy - ideal for the granddaughter who was 20 months old. The cot and high chair were excellent as well. We didn’t hire a car but the taxi service in the village is good. Overall I’d recommend this villa to anyone other than those with mobility problems as there are steps from the garden up to the pool area and more steps into the house.

Fantastic stay at Villa Varvara

We have just returned from a wonderful 10 night stay at Villa Varvara. We are a regular visitor to this area but have never stayed here before. The Villa is in a perfect location, 5min walk to the beach and lovely restaurants, perfect when you have little ones who get tired easily! We love the beach but also spent many a day relaxing around the fantastic private pool. The owners were very welcoming and we really can’t wait to return!

A little bit of paradise

This was our first visit to Crete, and wow what a beautiful place! The villa had everything we needed and was a real home from home. a welcome pack of bread, butter, veg, fruit, water, wine had been left for us which was really generous. The beach ,restaurants etc were a couple of minutes walk and the food was fantastic. We Walked into Kalyves following the path on the hills with absolutely stunning views and also took a bus in to Chania which is worth a visit. We didn’t venture much further as wanted a real chill out which we certainly had. Thank you Jan, Kaiti and the team, we loved it!

Wonderful Villa Varvara in Almyrida!

We are a family of 5 and we were very happy with our stay at this villa. A romantic and fantastic villa, recently modernized to a very high standard. The Villa holds everything we need for a beautiful holiday and the welcome pack of wine and basic provisions were gratefully received. Well equipped , comfortable and spacious with a lovely garden with tables and chairs and great private pool. There are multiple terraces and always a place to sit in the shade. The big terrace on the first floor is great for spending the evening after a hot day. It would benefit from some literature on the local amenities and attractions although there is a internet smart TV which you can access information through. A great villa in the very pretty village of Almyrida. It's 5 minutes walk on a flat road from the village where there are lots of nice restaurants and a lovely sandy beach and we have not rented a car. Villa Varvara is next to its brother Villa Iannis but we had plenty of privacy, they Villas have separate entrance, separate parking and lovely prive it pools. The Villa was very clean and well maintained and Anne and Richard were very helpful. Jan the owner is very friendly and accommodating and he wants give to you a lovely holiday. We’ve enjoyed breakfast at Francoise. If you want to have dinner on the beach, we’d recommend Dimitri’s in Almyrida, good greek food with a beautiful sunset. We’ve also walked the Samaria Gorge, which is a tough walk but definitely worth it! However, you don’t have to leave Villa Varvara to have a good time, we’ve enjoyed many lovely days at the pool! It is not often we as a family go back to the same place but we really have fallen in love with this part of Crete and are looking forward to our next visit. We all loved it!

Fantastic villa in a great location - ideal for larger families

We stayed in this villa 5 years ago under it's previous owners and it was tired. Now, re-painted and with appropriate furniture that fits it has a new lease of life. From the moment you book you are always in control knowing where to find the keys etc, who to contact if you have any issues and where things are. Anne and Richard from the property management company are excellent and will be at the property in minutes if needed. Would thoroughly recommend this villa as it is a short walk (less than 5 mins) on level ground to teh beach and teh Tavernas.

Beautiful location

We stayed in villa Varvara in May and had a wonderful week. The villa itself is a good size and has lots of outside balconies on different sides of the villa, so you can sit out in sun or shade at any time of day and look out over the olive groves, mountains and sea. Plenty of room and all the facilities you would expect for families. In front of the villa is the lovely pool and beyond that, a shady garden complete with lemon trees, which means you can relax by the pool and still enjoy the privacy of the location. Almirida beach is just a short, flat walk away and is ideal for families with boats and sunbeds for hire, beautiful sand and clear water. There is a good selection of restaurants, tavernas and bars to choose from and several small supermarkets if you want to cook at the villa. We had a few barbecues and enjoyed our breakfast on the balcony each morning. Villa and resort both highly recommended.

Fabulous Holiday

Myself, two sons, one daughter with her partner and two little ones were accompanied by my friend and her family and grandaughter. Are party included 3 eighteen year old boys, 3 under 7s, 30 somethings and older. The villas, pools and the wonderful lemon grove garden provided us with everything we needed, including shade - and of course lemons. We didn't have a car and we didn't need one. The beach was a short stroll and we ate in fabulous restaurants every night. There is a local bakers a few minutes walk away and some good food shops. Took a taxi to the supermarket for one big shop. The teenagers and 30 somethings enjoyed Almyrida's night life. The villas' owners and local assistants were incredibly helpful. We found a reliable company to transfer us all in style from the airport to the villas and back again. Will definitely go again as we had a fabulous time. My daughter and her partner - 30 somethings - some friends and their respective children have booked up for next year. So, for relaxing and fun, highly recommended.

Adult holiday week in Almyrida, Villa Varvara

We visited Villa Varvara for a week and had absolutely great time touring the West side of the island and also some Mountain routes by car to East, based on our hosts’ reccommodations. They were unfortunately not able to greet us but as well them and other people responsible for the villa were so helpful and nice ❤️. We can recommend the villa for both; holiday with kids or without. If something we would Wish, would be the mattress toppers for beds 😊. Otherwise all was super 💎 Thank you!

Like paradise

Super house, super garden mit Pool- what do you need more for making holidays? The villa fulfilled the description up to 100 %. Surrounded by olive trees we heard sometimes sheep bells and we enjoyed the extraordinary view from the different balconies. Because of the pool, bigger than expected, our children did not want to leave the property, only for eating ice-cream.😀. Jan & Dimitra supported very helpful our special wishes concerning the logistics of hiking in Crete. It could not be better. We would love to come back.

Great holiday

Thank you Jan and Dimitra, also Kaiti and the team, we had a lovely holiday. We really liked the Villa Varvara! We had never stayed in our own villa with our own pool before, so it was a real treat. Communication beforehand while booking etc was excellent. Arrangements to access the property were clear. Everything was very clean and had been prepared carefully with Covid precautions. The one double and two twin rooms were perfect for our family. We enjoyed the various balconies particularly the 'mountain view terrace' as we called it where my wife and I had our , morning coffee and cake each day looking out to the White Mountains. We all really enjoyed the pool which was a good size and really clean. Plenty of terrace chairs and loungers. Jan, Dimitra, Kaiti and colleagues were really helpful, and kind. Sadly we are not able to come to Crete every year but would definitely revisit Villa Varvara if circumstances allow. Thank you.
