Welcome! Are you looking to stay in a private, beautifully treed Alaskan setting? We offer a beautiful, rustic 2600 square foot custom home featuring 3 spacious bedrooms, 3 baths and a loft. Our home comfortably sleeps 8 people and there is plenty of room for extra guests if needed.
There is a fire pit located in the lower front yard with plenty of firewood to relax in the evening and swap stories of your experiences during the day. Large ample parking available on-site. The two large bedrooms contain two full beds each (new!) with a total of four beds!! The loft has a couch where you can have time alone to read a good book and enjoy the cool breeze coming through the window. The master bedroom has a queen bed, full master bath complete with Jacuzzi tub and a balcony. A back deck with a gas grill is provided for your use to cook that fresh salmon steak you caught or purchased earlier in the day.
In order to keep the bears away, there are no provisions to clean fish on site. We will be happy to provide information where you can get your fish processed locally in the Soldotna/Kenai area. Two freezers will be available to store your fish if needed.
Laundry facilities are available and the house is completely stocked with linens, towels and dishes for your use. We offer a TV in each bedroom with Netflix to wind down your day with a good movie or documentary. We also supply wireless WiFi. (Please remember I have raised my family here and have had animals in the past. Every bed is new and has been replaced. There is new bedding-sheets, blankets and comforters. The home is professionally cleaned every year and after every guest. Every effort is made to have it clean for past, current and future guests).
We are conveniently and centrally located 4 miles south of Soldotna, 70 miles from Homer, 10 miles from Kenai and 50 miles from the Russian River. The Kasilof River is just ten miles away with beach access located at Mile 4 from the South K-Beach/Sterling Highway intersection. Homer is just 75 minutes away for all your deep sea fishing experiences. Enjoy what our towns have to offer with unlimited and unique gift shops for the folks back home, quaint restaurants and shopping for the basic supplies to make your trip complete. Go carve your own wooden bowl from our Alaskan birch trees. There is unlimited fishing, kayaking, and hiking opportunities with a 26 mile loop bike pathway connecting Soldotna and Kenai for walking, jogging or riding your bike. For those who enjoy a good game of golf, we have three courses where you can make your selection.
There are beaches where you can look for unique agates or unusual rocks or you can watch the local setnetters and dipnetters fill their nets with salmon.
If you are looking for a quiet place to relax in the evenings, make your reservation with us. We will be happy to assist you in any way we can as we will be staying nearby to help make your stay enjoyable. It will be your "home away from home" where you will want to kick your feet up and relax. Isn't that what a vacation is all about?

We had a wonderful 3 days at Gayle's house. The pictures are exactly what the property is like. It a great place to stay and would strongly recommend this property!
Great stay in the Kenai with this house as our home base for family vacation. The house was nice for our family of 6. The extra freezer space was amazing and allowed us to have room to freeze the 150 lbs of fish we caught and had packaged.

Lots of rooms for sleeping, with plenty of room to lounge and hang out. Deck out back was wonderful for enjoying outdoors and grilling the fresh caught salem. Enjoyed roasted marshmallows at campfire pit, smores were even better in Alaska!

Thanks for coming Dawn. Vacation is for relaxing. I want my guests to feel this is their home when here. Please come back. Thank you for the review.
This was a great location for us as we were close to Soldotna which had all of our shopping needs. It is also centrally located for Kenai fishing, Homer and Seward sight seeing and fishing as well. The home had all of the privacy that you want yet close to town. Gayle was great through out our stay.
Love the cabin feel of this property. The kitchen, living room, and dining areas are all in one big open area as you enter. It was great being able to all be together and having an area big enough for all 7 of us to sit comfortably. We were a group of two families with our adult children, ages 19-23. We especially loved being able to see the mama moose and her two calves that came by two times. We were able to watch them safely from the home's balcony and from inside thru the windows. We would love to visit this property again.
We had 6 guys staying in Alaska to go fishing. This place is located in a great place to get to Homer and around Soldontna. Spacious living area and plenty of bed space. The fire pit area was a favorite in the evening to talk about the days activities and enjoy the outdoors. Communication with Gayle was easy and responsive, great owner.
My family of 5, and I had a great time staying here. We found the house exactly as advertised. It was clean, and well outfitted with everything you could ask for, even a great fire pit.
Gayle, our host was very helpful in making suggestions for everything, from glacier cruises, to salmon fishing, and restaurants. We enjoyed several of her recommendations. Would not hesitate to stay there again. Really enjoyed our visit!
We took our family to our favorite destination, Alaska to celebrate our 50th anniversary. We greatly enjoyed Gayle’s home as it allowed for gathering space as well as places for a little private time. I highly recommend!
Gayle was such a gracious host. On a day that threw a lot of obstacles her way, she made sure we had what we needed to make our stay great. Bonus was the cow (Moose) with her two babies that showed up in the back yard in the morning...so cool! The house is very comfortable and was in a perfect location for us to get to our fishing excursion.

Beautiful home. Spacious and comfortable.
Was so nice to have the fire pit and enough space to get together comfortably. The only thing I would suggest is to let people know that the house has had pets living inside. We have two people with asthma and pet allergies that had a hard time breathing. Luckily, the weather was nice and we were able to spend most days out of doors. Thanks for all the cooking utensils, etc. We are a family of cooks!

I am glad you enjoyed my home. Yes, there has been animals in my home as this is where I raised my family. Every effort has been made to make amends for this (new beds, bedding, professional cleaning). I apologize sincerely for it affecting members of your family.

Nice calm location away from the town but close enough to get all the supplies needed.
Nice and spacious house. Perfect for big group. Very well supplied, kitchen is well supplied to allow great cooking ( appreciated the variety of spices available). Gayle’s welcome pies were wonderful to have for our first day after a long journey and so delicious!
We Iiked the somewhat center location of the house on the Kenai peninsula to be able to do day trips to different towns ( Seward, homer, hope...). Gayle is always available for questions and help if needed.

Luxury Alaska living! Beautiful, comfortable, lots of room!
Luxurious Alaska living, beautiful setting comfortable beds and pillows. Great outdoor firepit and fully equipped kitchen. Lots of room to spread out. We loved staying on this end of the city so the guys could go fishing without having to drive through town! Gayle is a precious lady, extra nice and friendly! She even baked us some delicious homemade pie! We will be coming back here! Dennis & Annette

About the host
Hosted by Gayle D. Koger
I get the privilege to be your hostess-an Oklahoma gal who knows all about good southern hospitality. I love my home state and I love Alaska where we have lived the past 25 years. "Life is good" living here in Soldotna, Alaska-we love the wildlife, the beautiful mountain scenery, looking for agates on Kasilof and Nikishka beach and fly-fishing early in the morning on the Kenai River. Camping offers unlimited opportunities to experience the peace and majesty of the Alaska wilderness. Please feel free to text or call me with any questions you may have before you come visit. If I don't know the answer, I promise I will find the answer you need to make your trip a great experience. I am here for YOU. Please stay in our Alaskan rustic setting and enjoy your "home away from home". Let me help you make it great.
Why they chose this property
Our property offers the convenience of being close to town but not living in town. We like the privacy of not living in a subdivision and a place where we can relax around the fire in the warm evenings. Being centrally located between the Kasilof and Kenai Rivers gives us the opportunity to enjoy what the Alaska outdoors has to offer. Homer is just a quick drive down the way. We love it here. We know you will too.
What makes this property unique
We love the extra homey touches that are inside our home-the birch staircase, the rock fireplace that contains a wood stove adds that rustic appeal that we enjoy year round. Having two lawns-the upper lawn where the house is located and the lower lawn that allows us the opportunity to sit around the fire at night and enjoy our Alaska summers to the fullest. Having lived in this community for almost 25 years gives us a lot of extra knowledge of fun ideas to do, fishing guides we can make referrals too and places to visit that maybe you have not thought of by looking at a travel guide. We definitely know the good places to eat and are willing to share our knowledge and experience with you.
