We had a wonderful time during our vacation. We loved having the sandbar within walking distance of our cottage and the boat launch right down the street. Was simply perfect!
We really enjoyed our stay here. Comfortable and clean. Nice patio out back. Would have liked to try the outdoor shower, but was too chilly in the morning. Loved being close to beach access. And good tap water! Would definitely recommend.
Nice clean cottage, close to the sand bar and beach.
We enjoyed our stay at this nice cottage. Upon arrival, Susan greeted us and showed us around the property. Everything was clean and neat. It was great to be so close to the beach and a boat launch for our pontoon. The backyard is wonderful with a patio seating area and a fire pit. There's also a nice outdoor shower to get cleaned up from swimming. I do wish there were a few more tv channels available, for late night watching and early mornings for kids. Other than that, I would definitely stay here again and recommend it to others.
This is our second stay at this property and it was ideal. Kitchen is well stocked, beds are comfortable and the outdoor space has plenty of sun and shade. We are able to launch our boat and drive the trailer back to the property while family waits. It has the ease of being by the sandbar without the noise and business. My only suggestion is that it would be nice not to have to bring my own bedding. We will be back for sure!
Great Location. About a block away from the public access beach to the sand bar. DNR boat launch is just down the street. Plenty of parking for a boat trailer. Market/Italian Restaurant/Marina just down the street. Private fire pit and outdoor eating area. 3 private bedrooms. House is very clean and updated. Would definately stair here again
We had a wonderful experience at the cottage! We loved how close it was to a little beach that connects to the sandbar! The house was very clean. We liked having an outdoor shower to clean off after swimming. Overall we had a great time and loved the location. It made it easy to get to the northern side of the lake and also places like traverse city to the west.
We loved staying here! The house was super clean, enough room for 5 people and the outdoor shower was outstanding.
The public beach access was very close, we took our floats down and had fun floating around the famous Torch Lake sandbar. Kim was a great hostess, we hope to come back for two weeks next year!
I would recommend bringing some extra toilet paper and paper towel if you’re staying for the week. Highly recommend Micos for dinner, walking distance from the cottage. We loved our stay and can’t wait to come back next summer !!
The cottage is in a great location with easy access to the lake. The home was very clean and spacious! The owners were very hospitable and easy to reach with any questions . Would definitely stay again!!
We were most pleased with our stay. The cottage was clean and airy, comfortable and attractive and had everything we needed. We also enjoyed the outdoor shower. The location was good, and the owner was most congenial and helpful. We would highly recommend this rental.
We had the best experience renting this adorable cottage! So clean, and comfortable for 5 women! We loved the patio for morning coffee and evening drinks, and the location is ideal. The public beach across the street was perfect and the cottage is close to Traverse City, Elk Rapids and Alden! The property manager was very accommodating and has great recommendations! We will definitely be back!!
This cottage was more than we expected, it was clean, and comfortable with everything you could ask of a vacation rental. It is a cozy space that was great for me and my 3 kids (youngest is 14) to explore and enjoy Torch Lake, Traverse City (40 minute drive), and Elk Rapids. The outdoor shower was great and the property is immaculate. We were all very happy here. 🙂

Overall, the cottage met all our needs. It was a very relaxing stay, beautiful view! Great host!
First, Kim responded very quickly and was a very gracious host. Her thoughtfulness helped make our stay more enjoyable. The cottage was well stocked and furnishings were very comfortable. We really enjoyed the patio, fire pit and used the outdoor shower a majority of the time. Often times, kitchen items are not adequate to cook meals...that was not the case here! We enjoyed the games and although it took all week, we enjoyed finishing the Petoskey stone puzzle. Torch Lake was absolutely beautiful! Access to the little beach and sand bar is only a couple houses away. It’s close to several notable towns/cities to explore when not on the lake. If we ever come back to Torch Lake, we would stay here again!
My only recommendation would be to get a DVD for the not so sunny days and late nights.

Wonderful Cottage!
We had a wonderful time at this cottage! It was very clean and neat. It has an outdoor shower which we loved! We enjoyed the outdoor fire pit. Kim is a wonderful host and gave us ideas of where to go and what to do. The area is wonderful and the pictures of the cottege and area don't do it justice. It is only 2 houses down to the public beach access.

We loved our stay! The cottage was so clean and very comfortable!
We were welcomed by Kim when we arrived to the cottage. She was so warm and welcoming. She was very helpful with restaurant suggestions and activities/places to visit during our stay. She was available any time we had a question. The beds were comfortable and everything was very clean! There is an additional shower outside. I was a little hesitant to try it but I am so glad I did! It was amazing! It has a rain shower head (not sure if that is the correct term), but I loved it! I used it all week. We were told the cottage has a small hot water tank so we needed to space our showers about 15 minutes apart. There were four of us and that never was a problem. The cottage sits across the road from Torch Lake. Public access to the beach is a very short walk. The beach area is pretty small. You can see the massive sand bar from the shore. The Lake is beautiful! There is a general store and boat rental down the road. We walked down there for an ice cream after dinner a couple of times. We did rent a pontoon boat for the day. If you stay in the Torch Lake area you should start making phone calls to reserve a boat early. We were lucky to get one on our last full day there. I was told they book fast and I believe it! We made day trips to different places around Traverse city which is about a 20 minute drive. We went to one of the many winery’s, sleeping bear dunes, shopping in downtown Travers city. Breakfast at Mommas kitchen in Alden was great, and they had some cute shops we checked out. I can’t remember all the local restaurants we had dinner at but they were all very good! I truly had a very comfortable stay. My children are young adults and the only thing they did suggest having a DVD player for the cottage. Honestly, we stayed so busy, watching TV was low on my list but for a young person I can see wanting one to use. Thank you Kim for an awesome week. We were very happy with our stay.

A great visit to Sand Dollar @ Torch Lake
The cottage is clean, attractive and comfortable. It's location is perfect for visiting Torch Lake. It is very near the public access to the lake and the sand bar. Even though the kitchen is small it has most everything you need. We especially enjoyed the outdoor shower. It was very beneficial due to our concerns about the holding tank. Also another concern was the very small hot water heater because with 4 women it could not accommodate 4 quick showers within an hours time span.

About the host
Hosted by Bill Dollar
I live in a 100 year old cottage next door so I'm always here to help you. The rental cottage is not just a rental. It will, one day, become my 5th Torch Lake generation's personal cottage. Therefore, it is lovingly cared for and kept up. I expect my renters to respect my dreams in keeping it nice for my grandchildren. I love sharing this area of northern Michigan with others.
Why they chose this property
It's close to everything, the back yard is peaceful and the cottage is clean🤗. It brings back the wonderful world of cottage living and is not like a modern hotel room.
What makes this property unique
Outdoor hot water shower (soon to come) as well as indoor shower. Deer in the yard, at quiet times. Also, you can’t be any closer to the sand bar for the price.
