About this property
Beautifully situated comfortable cottage and pottery, a perfect holiday base
Lovely spacious newly refurbished two bedroom barn conversion with parking and enclosed garden, perfect for families, walkers and those wishing to get away from it all. Little Stadbury combines the convenience of being located within a couple of miles of stunning sandy beaches, lovely welcoming pubs serving delicious food and the historic market town of Kingsbridge whilst tucked away down its own private mile long drive.
The cottage has been completely refurbished and has all mod cons including dishwasher, washing machine, Nespresso coffee machine and central heating and is comfortably and stylishly furnished with luxurious feather and down duvets and pillows and fluffy towels. Dogs are most welcome and just in case they happen to get a little wet and muddy, there is an outside tap with hose, and we provide old towels to dry them! Please note there is an additional cost of GBP 30 per dog. We also provide a highchair, travel cot and stair gate for the little ones by arrangement, and the garden is safe and enclosed with patio, BBQ and grassy area, accessed from the French doors by the kitchen. There is ample parking for two cars. There is also the use of our field for ball games and exercising your dog. Guests can now try their hand, by arrangement with Sarah, at pottery in the recently completed Little Piggery Pottery studio. Suitable for both beginners and more experienced potters alike, you can try your hand at throwing on the wheel, slab building, decorating and glazing. Any items that you make can be fired in the kiln here and sent on to you as a memento of your stay. Within walking distance is the village of Bantham and its gorgeous sandy beach, (voted one of Europe’s finest beaches) which is patrolled by lifeguards during the summer months and where you can learn to surf, paddle board and windsurf or just sunbathe, sleep or read! Whilst dogs are not allowed on the main beach between May and the end of September, they ARE allowed on the vast beach (at low tide) at the mouth of the estuary between Bantham and Bigbury on Sea. Little Stadbury is also yards from the Avon Estuary Walk route, from which you can pick up the Coastal Path. There are a number of pubs within walking distance including the excellent 14th century Sloop Inn and the Fisherman's Rest (Aveton Gifford), while further afield you are spoilt for choice in terms of award winning eateries. There are village shops in Bantham, Aveton Gifford and Churchstow, and the market town of Kingsbridge is three miles away with a choice of supermarkets and interesting artisanal shops. Modbury is also worth a visit, particularly to the Wild Goose antique shop. The South Devon Chilli Farm is nearby at Loddiswell. Salcombe is around 7 miles away and Dartmouth 12 for those of a nautical disposition. Burgh Island is well worth a visit, particularly for lunch at the Pilchard Inn (est 1336), steeped in fishing history and the Hotel is famed for its links to Agatha Christie. When the tide is in the sea tractor will take you there from Bigbury on Sea. Little Stadbury is superbly located to enjoy everything that the South Hams and South Devon has to offer while providing peace and quiet without being completely off the beaten track.

A peaceful retreat with beautiful walks on the doorstep. The cottage is well equipped and a perfect base, being near to Kingsbridge. Malcolm and Sarah are welcoming hosts. We would definitely return.
Beautiful cottage in a great location. Friendly welcoming hosts.Everything we could have asked for - the cottage is lovely & makes a great base for walking coastal paths & exploring south devon.Could not praise it enough
Little Stadbury was the perfect place to relax and recharge. It had everything we needed for a very comfortable stay.Malcolm & Sarah were very welcoming hosts and gave us information about the accommodation and advice on walks in the local area. The whole accommodation was clean and warm and the kitchen was very well-equipped. We would love to visit again one day.
The cottage is most comfortable with everything needed for an excellent holiday. Easy access to good walking and very dog friendly. We were made to feel welcome from the moment we arrived.
First of all, Sarah and Malcolm are the perfect hosts. They always go out of their way to help whenever needed while giving you the space to enjoy your holiday. This was our fifth stay, and that probably says everything about how much we enjoy coming here. Even after several visits, we still find plenty of new things to do and, if anything, we enjoyed this holiday even more now that we know the area better and have our favourite places to visit. We stayed during the early July heatwave. While temperatures at home were approaching 40C indoors, Devon was much more comfortable, with temperatures in the high 20s and far lower humidity. The cottage remained cool throughout the day, making it a pleasure to return to after spending time at the beach or exploring the local area. The location is hard to beat. There are beautiful beaches within a few miles which this year had crystal clear water and other places to visit within easy drives. We particularly enjoy being able to step straight onto the footpaths from the accommodation and walk with the dog and family to Bantham for breakfast before wandering back - stay alert crossing the cow fields and keep dogs on the lead! The cottage itself is comfortable, well-equipped and has everything we need for a relaxing stay. It really does feel like a home from home.We have made some wonderful family memories here over the years and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone looking for a peaceful, dog-friendly base.
Perfect property and location with fantastic hosts!
Lovely roomy cottage in the perfect super quiet location with everything you might need for a relaxing stay and we have stayed several times over the past few years - spring and summers. Much to see and do locally whatever the weather and brilliant, welcoming hosts.
Excellent holiday experience as always - fourth visit for us - did more and further walks and found some excellent spots for breakfast and lunches. Can’t be faulted. Highly recommend the Church House Inn nearby. Food and service is excellent. Portions are large so be careful not to order too much. All in all Ideally placed for many different days out and scenic walks.
A great place to stay with family and dogs, so nice and quiet with it’s own field to let dogs run around.
We will stay again as it was not far from the beach and Salcombe. Very clean and well presented.
Little Stadbury was such a perfect location for our family. It is close to the coastline and to some amazing villages. Malcolm and Sarah were perfect hosts and very helpful to find places and activities for our family.
Spacious and beautifully set in the countryside, close to the coast.
Malcolm and Sarah were very welcoming and genial hosts and the cottage offered everything we were after.
Little Stadbury is a hamlet just outside Aveton Gifford reached by a farm track of 1/2 a mile or more. The property offers a spacious open plan living and dining area with 2 good sized bedrooms above. It is wonderful and the hosts are truely lovely too, adding so much to your stay.
A very well appointed comfortable cottage. The owners were friendly and very helpful. We enjoyed our stay greatly and would not hesitate to make a return visit .
We had a lovely warm welcome by the hosts and were made to feel at home immediately. We were given great information about surrounding walks and they were really accommodating to our family and over excited Labrador. Would thoroughly recommend staying here.
We absolutely loved our stay at Little Stadbury. It's a gorgeous property in a beautiful location. We found it so spacious and comfortable and ideal for us and the teenage children and our dog too! Malcom and Sarah were so welcoming and helpful. We would definitely love to go back sometime.
