We had a great stay here. The apartment is beautiful: nice furniture and accessories, comfortable beds, nice linens, big windows and everything we needed. We only had one full day so we came prepared with our food and spent the day wandering the property, checking out the cows and pond life, working a puzzle and enjoying the absolute peace and quiet of the farm. Tom was a gracious host and we hope to visit again.

Loved having you stay with us and can't wait to have you back!
Clean and modern property located in rural/farm setting provided a very relaxing stay! Hosts are so accommodating and friendly. Would certainly stay again and recommend to other travelers. 5 stars!
This is our 4th time at the barn and it is truly a delight to be back again. It’s always super clean,
communication with Diana is great, beds are very comfortable and kitchen is well supplied.
Location is minutes from downtown Scottsville and 20 minutes from the Seminary.
Looking forward to returning for another visit!
My friend and I chose The Barn as a weekend getaway. Everything was very clean and comfortable. Scottsville is 10 minutes away and there are a few wineries within 30 minutes driving distance as well. We had all the privacy we needed but our host was also a phone call away when we needed something. Overall a very pleasant stay!
The property was simply gorgeous! Tom assisted us with check in and was a delight to talk with! Our only issue was the apartment was very hot Saturday night. It got very warm that day and im not sure if the AC units werent on yet but it was very uncomfortable all night on Saturday.

We were so sorry to hear that The Barn was very warm and the AC didn't seem like it was working. Should you ever stay at our place again-- and we hope you will--please call to us so that we can troubleshoot any issues (our numbers are listed on the guest information sheet and Tom has his cell phone on him 24/7 which is the reason we always provide guests with his #). This time of year is tricky--cold mornings and hot afternoons-- and guests will sometimes flip between heat/cooling not knowing that all units (upstairs and downstairs ) need to be in the same mode. Again, we apologize for any inconvenience and hope you come back so we can make it up to you!
The Barn was a gorgeous and relaxing place to stay with my husband and two dogs. It was exactly as you’d want a comfy, clean, quiet farmhouse barn to be. The pictures don’t really do it justice; it’s actually nicer, which is rare! The property is also beautiful in spring, with a pond and a creek. Tom, who helped check us in, was welcoming and helpful. The nearby downtown in Scottsville had a great brewery and some nice restaurants if you choose to get out. The whole weekend was a pleasure and I hope we have a chance to go back again sometime!
We arrived in the dark at 8:00pm. We were greeted by Tom and he made us feel so welcomed and at home. All of his food and coffee recommendations in Scottsville were delicious! The barn was spotless, clean, and very cozy. The beds were super comfortable, everything was decorated beautifully. The only thing I would suggest is maybe a full length mirror in the bedrooms, especially since the quaint master bathroom’s eaves do not allow for a mirror taller than chest height. 😊 The lovely kitchen could use a new dish and mug set and mixing bowls.
When you wake up in the morning to gorgeous views out of ever window it’s hard to tear yourself away! We want to come back! The entire farm is so amazing!
We were in the area visiting family and traveling with our two kids and four dogs. Everything about this experience was wonderful! There are numerous rental properties on the farm and we had originally wanted to stay in the larger farm house but it was booked before we finalized our booking. Diana, the property manager, was so helpful in finding another place for us to stay on the farm and graciously agreed to allow us to bring our 4 dogs. We ended up staying in the barn and it was perfect!! The pictures actually dont do it justice. It somehow managed to be borh rustic and modern and every amenity we could need. I was so impressed with the little touches that make such a big difference, like trashcans in the bathrooms, an abundance of outlets, labels on the switches, lots of hooks and places to hang things, extra linens, and all the kitchen amenities you could need. The kids loved the pool table and ping pong table in the lower part of the barn. The property itself was so nice. We walked our dogs along the road and trails every day. There was a little dock overlooking a pond that was perfect for reading and fishing (there were poles in the barn). The kids loved the tree swing just. The dogs loved being able to run free and got lots of exercise. We saw deer and wild turkeys every day. And, to make our stay even better, the onsite property managers, Thomas and Alicia, were so kind and hospitable. Alicia welcomed us up to feed the chickens and cows!
My two friends and I really enjoyed staying at this property. It was such a unique spot, staying on the farm where there was privacy, beautiful skies, and casual walks through nature. The house was spotless with more than the essentials, and it was nice to be on the second floor - giving you a different perspective and a gentle breeze in the evenings.
First, Tom was amazing and made sure we had everything we needed!!! Great weekend getaway from it all. We brought our own food, so we did not need to leave often. We did go out to eat once and found a great French Restaurant in Scottsville 15 minutes driving. We played Arcade games, pool, table tennis, listen to music, read books and relaxed in the quiet of the mountains. Definitely somewhere we would visit again!!!
My friend and I came out here to get away for a weekend! No real expectations other than some time to relax and chill with no real responsibilities. The property was advertised. I will note that we went when it had snowed over a foot in the previous 2 weeks in the area and the ground was snow and ice covered throughout the farm. The temperature hadn't really been above freezing most days for those 2 weeks so there wasn't a whole lot of melting. With that said, the place was nice. They took their time remodeling the space above the barn and it showed. I will say that it being as cold as it was, it was hard to keep the temperature up above 70 degrees and we had it up pretty high. There is the door to the outside, the stairway leading upstairs and nothing in between so the cold was never too far away, unfortunately. Outside of that, we didn't do our research for the area and given the cold weather, we didn't have many options for outdoor activities. But I would love to try coming back here during spring or summer find some local trails and get out to explore.
My best friend and I were able to take a kid-free weekend, and my hubs suggested an area near Charlottesville - so we found this barn! Absolutely lovely place to stay, nice and quiet, and super clean. Plus, Tom and his wife were so friendly, and were nearby on the property if needed. Planning to come back again in the spring!
My daughter and I chose the Barn as a place to relax and enjoy nature but not be too far away from things to do. We had a wonderful time watching deer in the fields and stargazing at night and swimming in the large pond which was more like a small lake. Loved our stay and would definitely stay again.

Charming, cozy accommodations despite the cold, rainy weekend.
It was exactly what we were looking for while visiting the area—close enough to Charlottesville so we had access to activities there, but remote enough to impart the true farming culture of the area. Also enjoyed the town of Scottsville. Alicia and Tom were gracious hosts, allowing us to enjoy the farm activities—my daughters had the opportunity to bottle-feed a calf and collect eggs in the henhouse. Would love to return in the future!
My husband and I had a terrific time at The Barn! Hosts were gracious and kind. House is gorgeous and the views are beautiful. Loved walking to the creek. Nearby town is great for food/shopping. Loved this area and will definitely return. Loved every minute of it.

Peace and quiet
The barn is a private getaway. We enjoyed the peace and quiet and even took a dip in the pond! The pool table, arcade game, and ping pong table was a nice touch. The beds were comfortable and the home was well appointed. We liked the quaint town of Scottsville and had a great time tubing on the James River. We would visit again for sure. Don't count on internet service-we didn't have any-but didn't miss it one bit.
