The location was ideal, 2 miles either way to either Windermere or Ambleside.Check in was very easy and with a bit of navigation the lodge was easy to find. The wild bunny and squirrel spotting was lovely! The lodge itself had everything you needed for a staycation but the downside to it was definitely the cleanliness. On our arrival we found clean towels for us dumped on the beds but in the bath of the main bathroom and shower of the ensuite all the used towels from the people before had not been removed and the bathrooms appeared to have not being cleaned. We know for sure, the bed sheets on all the beds were not changed as we found items of clothing from the previous people in one of them and 2 were not made on our arrival and they all smelt of BO!!! The wall paper in one of the rooms was all ripped by the bed. To top it all, I was so glad we didn't have children with us as in the twin bedroom (meant for children) we found on the floor x2 tablets of some kind of medication, god only knows what and luckily we spotted them before our dog!! The whole place needed a good dust, wash down and hoover. A little freshen up and attention and it would have been perfect. I really don't think the rug in the front room had seen a hoover for weeks and if the sofa cushions got anymore flatter and misshapen you might as well have just sat on the floor!!
