This house was so wonderful! It was beautifully decorated and very clean. There is a great rooftop deck, which isn’t in the pictures in the listing. You can see all of Portland harbor from the roof. The rooms were very comfortable and the kitchen was great for a meal in. It was a great location and the neighborhood felt safe and was quiet at night. Very close to Old Port and the Eastern Promenade. The owner was very easy to work with, answered all the questions I had, and gave great recommendations for the area. Overall it was a great house and so perfect for me and my friends!
Much of this home is lovely, and the location is good. The kitchen is very well-equipped, and the home is well-lit. However, there are some things you should know about based on our stay.
• Under "Amenities," it says it has air conditioning. Technically this is true; however, there are some caveats.
• Only two of the three bedrooms had air conditioning. The third one had a window fan. The other bedroom's AC, on the second floor, would not work due to an underpowered circuit and wiring. It was hot and humid with no wind during our stay, so not having functional AC in all bedrooms was uncomfortable.
After contacting the homeowner, she sent an electrician. He determined the problem was an underpowered circuit (only 15 amps). That 15-amp breaker had recently been replaced, suggesting the problem had been known. Upgrading to more amperage is the only solution. He could not do it during our brief weekend stay.
It is a nice and comfortable home if you do not want or need AC in all three bedrooms.
Even in Maine, it can get hot for a few days. If you advertise the property as air-conditioned, a reasonable renter would expect it to work at least in ALL bedrooms.
The rental was not inexpensive, and adequate AC in all three bedrooms could have made our stay much better. Had the wiring been upgraded to handle all of the demands on the second floor, which the 15 amp circuit served, and there was functioning AC in all bedrooms, I would have given it five stars.
We had a great stay at the house. It's very close to the center of town and is very well decorated and renovated. The owner was very responsive as well. Highly recommend it.
Lovely property! Beautifully restored and decorated with plenty of space for everyone. Six of us stayed here and felt extremely comfortable. We thoroughly enjoyed spending time on the roof deck and the incredibly walkability to the water, places to eat, coffee shops, etc. The only (very very slight) negative was that one of the bedrooms did not have AC. For the hottest night the couple staying in that room chose to sleep on the couches, but we were there for a particularly hot weekend. I imagine that the air normally cools down quite a bit at night, so an open window (with the provided fans) would be totally fine! Don't let this one negative dissuade you though; this place is fabulous!
My family and I stayed at this beautiful Munjoy Hill property for our first visit to Portland. The home is in a perfect location for easy walks into Old town (15-20 min walk) and the East End Promenade/ East End Beach. The home itself is gorgeous with everything you will need for a comfortable stay. We didn’t use the kitchen for cooking (too many amazing restaurants to try!) but it is well equipped if you want to! 3 beautiful bedrooms including a stunning third floor master bedroom and bathroom! One of the three bedrooms did not have an AC and the days we stayed were exceptionally hot so that room was a bit warm at night. We highly recommend this home!
I visited Portland with a group of friends this past weekend and our stay was wonderful! The house was amazing. It is spacious, comfortable, filled with beautiful décor and has the perfect amount of charm. The house was stocked with everything we needed. The location is great as well. It is on a quiet, quaint street, and you can easily walk to other parts of Portland. It took us about 15 minutes to walk to local breweries and restaurants and about 35-40 minutes to walk to Hot Suppa, a local restaurant we wanted to try for brunch. The owner was very responsive and appears to work next door to the property. Since our stay was mid summer, it did get quite warm during the day. Most rooms had A/C besides one bedroom, however, it is very cool during the night so it was not needed. The breaker tripped a few times during our stay, but the owner came immediately to fix it and let us know how to fix it if it happened again. Highly recommend this property if you are looking for a relaxing getaway with family or friends or for a nice trip to explore Portland!
The beauty, design and quality of this property was unparalleled. It was a stunning home for three of my co-workers to stay in while in town, to experience not only the loveliness of the home, but all that Portland has to offer—all a short stroll away. The upscale quality of all aspects of the home was truly appreciated. Thank you to Susan for being an incredibly attentive host.
For anyone looking for a great home base during any kind of trip to Portland, ME, this is the place to book.
The location is ideal for those wanting to be just off the beaten path of the touristy downtown area while also not wanting to be too far away from it all. Within 5-10 minutes on foot, you are already stumbling upon local favorites like Eventide and Duckfat.
The house itself is beyond beautiful - every little detail seems to have been carefully considered and designed. It was a perfect place for 6 people (3 couples) to occupy, as there is just the right amount of room to entertain yourselves and use for any purpose. About half of the meals of our long weekend were consumed in the kitchen/dining room area, as bringing back seafood, meats and cheeses to enjoy in our own home was just as enjoyable as eating out. All 3 rooms were very comfortable, and the entire 3rd floor (which seems like a brand new addition) is straight out of a magazine, it is just incredible. And to top it all off, there is a private roof deck with views of the water. What else do you need?
My friends and I will definitely be staying here again, hopefully sooner rather than later. Although we will most likely try to stay here anytime except the summer months, as we believe there is no true AC in the house. So, we are assuming it can get pretty hot as the house was even running quite warm during a unseasonably humid weekend in October. But other than that, the house is seriously perfect.

Thanks so much for the wonderful review Benjamin. There are ACs in each of the bedrooms and downstairs but we had just taken them out before you arrived as cool weather had presumably settled in for the season. I'm sorry if we did so too quickly!
We absolutely loved everything about this clean, modern and well equipped home. The roof top deck was the icing on the cake; perfect for cocktails on a warm autumn evening. We loved the neighborhood and the proximity to walking trail along the bay. We will be back!
Munjoy Hill was the perfect home and location for our first time Portland experience. Susan was fantastic and helped guide us to hidden local cuisine while providing a dreamy and luxurious accommodation. From the roof top patio with views of the Casco Bay and numerous lighthouses to stylish and unique decor, Munjoy Hill doesn't disappoint.
The whole experience exceeded our expectations. The pics of the house don’t do justice to the charm of the interior decor, and the outside, rooftop deck has great panoramic views of the bay. Loved the munjoy hill location/area - short walks to quaint but trendy markets and coffee shops … downtown shops and restaurants all walkable as well (we particularly enjoyed the longer (but not too long) strolls to dinner in town in the beautiful summer weather). We traveled with group of 4 adults, and this gets 8 thumbs up from our crew!!

Thanks so much Jack! It was so great to host you guys and I'm glad I got a chance to say hello. My best wishes to you and your crew, SG
We adored this house in Munjoy Hill, a very cool neighborhood in Portland's East End. It has been fully updated by the owner, with a great kitchen and spectacular 3rd floor master suite that leads up to 360-degree roof deck. There's nothing about the house I'd change -- and at the top of the street is a coffee house that serves the best egg sandwiches EVER. Pretty perfect.
Our family of four (two kids 5 & under) had a wonderful time exploring the Portland area by day and relaxing in Susan's beautifully designed home by night. We gravitated to Susan's home largely due to the inviting design details that one can start to glean from the photos but only fully reveal themselves in person. We were not disappointed. Susan was a very gracious and unobtrusive host, and lovely to work with. Highly recommend.
We were so delighted to walk into the doors of Susan’s beautiful home in Portland. For the design enthusiasts, your stay will be inspirational, exceptional and unique. A short walk to town or a five minute car ride will bring you to Portland‘s coolest restaurants, shops and waterfront views. There is also an incredible rooftop deck with sweeping views of the ocean and nearby homes. A truly awesome stay, I would recommend to all!
First in for most I would like to say what is impeccably decorated and well-kept home this was. The attention to detail is clear and made for such a pleasurable experience! A few things could have made this experience even better. I want to be clear that there were no issues that detracted from my trip at all. However these suggestions may be helpful to future renters. There is driveway parking however it was not explicitly expressed so we were unclear whether we were allowed to park there or not. There is also an apartment at the back of the property that was being rented out, however we were not aware of of this before making the decision to stay there. I would mention that in the description as well. All in all it was an excellent time and the house is located so perfectly, nestled between an easy walk to down town and another easy walk to beautiful ocean views and a small beach. 10/10 would reccomend.
This house was even more beautiful than we had seen in the photos. Everything about our stay was perfect. If you are planning a trip to Portland this wonderful home is simply a no brainer. Thanks for allowing us to share such a magical home. Paul C
