What strikes guests at Podere Le Murella most is the profound tranquility of the place and the feeling of being away from it all, even though the village of Palaia and all of Tuscany’s cities of art are very close by. Numerous species of birds fly and find refuge in the flower-filled garden, and it’s not uncommon to spot roe deer, porcupines, squirrels, and other wildlife. Nestled in a lush garden filled with roses and flowers that change with the seasons, a rustic cottage from the last century awaits you, tastefully renovated with great care and love. There are two apartments, each accommodating two people, and both are completely independent (with separate entrances and parking). On the grounds surrounding the house, in addition to the garden, you’ll find 200 olive trees, fruit trees, an acacia grove, a charming greenhouse, and a traditional chicken coop. The estate features a number of systems designed to ensure the farm’s self-sufficiency, such as solar panels for electricity generation—concealed and located well away from the main building— a heating system (radiators) fuelled by wood from the woods, and, finally, a rainwater harvesting system that ensures the land is irrigated year-round. This quiet and magical “corner of paradise,” not far from art cities such as Pisa, Lucca, Florence, and Siena, and just 30 km from the Tuscan coast, is the ideal place for a honeymoon or a romantic getaway
