About this property
Coal Creek In-town Retreat! 3BR/3 Full BAs - SLPS 8 - 2 blocks to Elk Ave!
Our spacious and bright 3 Bedroom/3 Full Bath home, located just two blocks from Elk Avenue’s restaurants and shops, is adjacent to open space in the beautiful and quiet southwest corner of historic Crested Butte.
Business license #: 007004
With windows on three sides, the house overlooks cascading Coal Creek and has awesome mountain views of Mt Emmons, also known as the Red Lady, and Mt. Crested Butte.
Located on a street with no through traffic, your quiet and relaxing retreat is just a short stroll away from Crested Butte’s best food, shopping and fun! The free shuttle bus up to Crested Butte Mountain Resort is just two short blocks away, and access to great hiking, mountain biking and cross country skiing trails is right outside the front door.
The Space: If you want to feel like you're outdoors when inside, then this is the place for you. This gorgeous home will be a great getaway for your Crested Butte vacation! The house overlooks beautiful Coal Creek and has awesome views of some of the area’s most iconic peaks.
There are two bedrooms on the entry level, each furnished with high quality sheets, down comforters and comfy pillows. Each downstairs bedroom has its own full bath. After an active day outdoors, enjoy a steam shower or hot bath in the primary suite's spacious tub. The second bedroom on the lower level is furnished with a beautiful queen bed and a separate full bath.
The third floor features a spacious loft bedroom with two twin beds and a queen-size bed...the perfect spot for the kids to enjoy! The loft has its own full bath on the level just below.
The second floor is the soul of the place, with an open floor plan combining kitchen, living and dining in one big bright room with vaulted ceilings. With a fully equipped kitchen, cook on the gas range while chatting with friends seated at the adjacent bar. Barbecue on the deck overlooking Coal Creek. With windows galore, you can bask in the natural living room sunlight, curling up to read a book during a late afternoon respite. At night, snuggle up with the family in the cozy living room to watch a Netflix or Amazon Prime movie on the large flat screen TV.
Or, if you prefer to be outside enjoying the fresh mountain air, we have Adirondack chairs on a covered porch, as well as around a fire pit in the yard, where you can roast marshmallows next to Coal Creek as the sun sets to the west.
In-floor radiant heat throughout keeps the place warm without forced-air dryness. A convenient stackable washer/dryer unit is in its own closet on the lower floor – feel free to do some laundry during your stay – detergent provided.
Perfect Location! Fantastic spot off the beaten path, yet just two blocks to Elk Avenue’s great shops and restaurants. We are located on the edge of town, very close to downtown yet a world away from any hustle and bustle.
Here, trails beckon and Coal Creek rushes by in a symphony of water, day and night. The location of our home can’t be beat – on a quiet, private dead-end street and backing up to open space and forest. Many who have been to Crested Butte don’t even know this private street exists, and so close to Elk Avenue!
Use the free shuttle bus to get to the ski mountain – easy walk and very convenient! We are across the street from open space, a disc (Frisbee) golf course and Ruthie’s Run Nordic Ski Trail, and just a few blocks away from the Big Mine Ice Rink, skate park, and the Nordic Center.
So nice to be on a dead end street – virtually no traffic, very safe! Kids can play in the snow in the open space right across the street! Hike to an alpine lake via the Green Lake Trail, whose trailhead is just two blocks away.
Location is awesome – just a couple blocks from all the great restaurants and shops, but just outside all the busy-ness. Enjoy walking to dinner or brunch in town! Have fun on the trails right outside your front door!

About the host
Hosted by Jeanine & Jim P.

“Go West!” The mountains were calling us! My husband and I moved to Denver, CO from Washington, D.C. in 1998. We had the great pleasure of having 2 children and raising our family in Colorado, with a now 17 year-old daughter, and 16 year-old son.
Why they chose this property
Crested Butte has always been our true love when it comes to enjoying the great outdoors. Beginning when our daughter was an infant and son still in my belly, we set our sights on CB each summer to camp in the dispersed sites above Gothic! CB has always been a magical place and we feel so fortunate to now have a place to call home, in town and ready to enjoy for all the local festivities and beautiful seasons.
What makes this property unique
Right away, we knew this home was the place for us - such a quiet corner of town, backing up to open space overlooking pine forest and the lovely coal creek! With windows on all 3 sides in the main floor great room, it truly feels like you are perched in nature, with the outside in.
