The location is great, The deck was nice, great views of the ocean.
Good size bedrooms, nice washer and dryer, needs some updating on the tubes and showers.
All and all it was a nice house. Enjoyed our stay.

Hi, Evelyn. We are thrilled to learn that you had a positive experience with us!
The cottage was clean and comfortable but rather sparse. The structure itself could use some attention. We did enjoy our stay however, and loved being on the front row.

Time for owner to update. Moldy showers, unsafe unusable damaged teflon pans, low deck chairs eliminating any ocean view on the deck, mismatched cracked tableware, poor lighting in living room, ripped screens on back door inviting flies in. The location saved the trip for us.

Great view, but lacking amenities.
Love being on the beach and the beach access, but, home is very lacking in amenities. Porch furniture was poor, charcoal grill was rusted and unusable, outdoor shower is open air(not enclosed). Glassware very poor. Pealing paint on ceilings too.
We expected more. Location was great.
1. Dishwasher was broken when we arrived and was never fixed. It was reported and maintenance responded but it was never fixed. They were notified twice more. Dirty water remained trapped in the bottom of the dishwasher and leaked onto kitchen floor the entire time we were there. That meant there was a constant mess and hand washing everything for the week.
2. Beach access involves hiking over loose sand dune, no boardwalk, not what I define as "direct access".
3. Floor was gritty from the second we walked in. Mildew in bathrooms, paint peeling from bathroom ceilings.
4. Our 13 month old pushed one of the spindles on the beach side guard rail and it popped out of place. We almost lost her off the side of the porch. We found a second spindle equally unstable. Maintenance did come fix that , given we had a near death experience....literally.
5. Outside shower installed the day we left.
6. Knobs fall off kitchen cabinets and drawers.
7. Chairs on the beach side porch are the perfect height to have the view of the beach completely blocked by the handrail. You can carry chairs from other places onto the porch. You can see the ocean using higher chairs if you don't mind hauling them back and forth. .
I think it is fair to expect more from a "front row" "beachfront" rental. Above average costs for location should be matched with above average quality accommodations. In my opinion it was below average across the board. I did not feel we were provided satisfactory accommodations for the money we paid, and there was no compensation offered for the shortcomings of the property. I would say if this is your last resort...I'd say keep looking.
The house and the view are beautiful. The only things I wasn’t all that happy with are
1. They did not tell us the pictures of the back weren’t accurate. They’ve completely redone the back porch stairs and it no longer leads out directly to the beach. They also added huge dunes that you have to go around. We had no idea.
2. We didn’t have a broom and there was sand all over the floor, no matter how hard we tried lol.
Having said that, it was a great place to stay. Very clean and well laid out. Like I said, the view is gorgeous. I’d definitely stay again and recommend it to friends and family.

Hi Zachary, thank you for your feedback. Following the most recent hurricane many of the home's deck and stairs were destroyed by the hurricane. The Town of Oak Island did not allow property owners to rebuild the stairs directly facing the beach but rather sideways. The photos of the updates have been updated on the listing for future guests.

Good location but no frills
Water was off when we got there. Took the wife and I calling all the numbers we could to get ahold of someone for about an hour. They fixed it right away afterwards which we appreciated.
This place is in a good location but pretty bare bones. Couple of dead cockroaches which is common for a beach house. No toilet paper or paper towels. Not really many amenities. The water pressure was good and the water was warm mostly.
There's a big dune right in front of the house which gives you a bit of privacy if you want to go downstairs. It's also close to the beach access so you don't have to walk too far to get to the water (one house down).
Check in is at 4:00 p.m. and check out is at 9:00 a.m. which is the earliest I've ever encountered. The people at the office for Oak Island accommodations and the person who turned the water on were nice.
