Wonderful week in Door County

Trillium Cottage was perfect for our week. After busy days exploring DC, it was nice to have quiet evenings to relax and enjoy the beautiful sunsets. The cottage was very clean and comfortable, well stocked, and easy to check-in/out. Kris and Andy were very responsive - great hosts. Everything you need for a stress free vacation.

Relaxing and beautiful views!

We had a wonderful stay at the Trillium cottage! We traveled from California for a wedding in Milwaukee then made our way north to stay on Sturgeon Bay. We had family staying just a mile away and it was the perfect location. Such a cozy home, beautiful property and a short walk to the best beach with the most beautiful Sunsets. Nice big open living room/kitchen area. We gad our 2 year old with us and it was pretty child proof. He loved exploring and looking for bugs and snakes. Enjoyed some campfires and s’mores. Took some nice long runs around the bays. All the neighbors were so friendly. We love this area and can’t wait to come back.

No hot water the first day.

Hot water heater was broken so we were unable to shower on Friday. Called the owners, they called a plumber who fixed it at 6:00pm. 24 hours no hot water!!!!!!! Over priced for having no hot water for a day. The inside was clean and decorated cute and beachy. The outside needs some curb appeal. Flower planters and a good brushing off of the siding would do wonders. Many spider webs full of bugs and tree debris. What they call a picnic table was pretty sad looking. Thank goodness we didn’t need it.

We always do our best to resolve any issues that may arise. The hot water heater had been professionally inspected weeks prior and was working well the day before guest arrival. We called plumber immediately upon learning of the unforeseen issue and within 3 hours the repair was made. Hot water works perfectly now to due our responsiveness and an excellent local plumber we work with who installed two new thermostats. We are glad the guest enjoyed the clean cottage and cute beachy decor. Spider webs do exist Near the water it is impossible to keep spiders and webs off of buildings but we try. The property is in excellent overall and was as described. See our other (excellent) reviews. Improvements are an ongoing process that we enjoy. We are responsive and diligent hosts and look forward to hosting many future guests at Trillium Cottage on Sand Bay Point.

Polar Bear plunge

We traveled to Door County from Iowa to do the polar bear plunge at Jacksonport Wisconsin January 1, 2022. The property was as expected, no surprises. Everything was clean and well stocked. Plenty of blankets, towels, etc. the kitchen is well stocked and very easy to use. We really like to rent places that offer a kitchen, much more convenient than always having to go to a restaurant. We enjoyed the quiet neighborhood, and we enjoyed the wonderful collection of CD movies provided. The sunsets were some of the best we’ve ever seen looking out over the water. I highly recommend this property.

Great family getaway

Came for a quick trip during fall break with our two girls and beagle. It was the perfect cottage for our group to come back to and warm up in after some chilly days hiking and visiting shops. We will highly recommend to our friends.

Fall Girl’s Weekend

The Trillium Cottage was delightful. Very clean and well equipped. We loved spending a beautiful night at the campfire listening to nothing but the Loons. The beds were very comfortable and kitchen had everything we needed. Only concerns were the very spotty WiFi. Basically it didn’t exist and the TV reception was inconsistent. The bathroom is small and shower is interesting. We loved our stay and would love to come again.

Access Door County

We had a wonder full stay. My wife went swimming every morning. There are two locations one is just a block from the house with a gorgeous sunset. And the other is a 10-15 min walke with a sandy beach. After long day trips thou out the Door County peninsula we relaxed in the spacious living/dining room. There is lots of of information for you day trips in the second drawer of the corner cabinet.

Not enough AC for 2 couples

When the bedroom doors were shut the AC was ineffective at best. We sweated bullets in our bedrooms but not at the kitchen table. The place would work great for a couple but not 2 couples.

Guest should have contacted owners (easily reachable) for advice on how to adjust setting on overall very well-functioning air conditioning system. There are also ceiling fans above each bed and box fans as well as a tall fan available for guest use should they wish to move additional air. Indeed it was an extremely hot spell and it is unfortunate Door County had exceptionally warm temperatures during the guests' stay.

Becoming a favorite

Second time around at this place and even more fun!! We LOVE this cabin, accommodates our family perfectly and the amenities are excellent. Neighborhood is quiet and beautiful. Easy drive to all the state parks and activities we want to do. I think the only reason we wouldn't stay here would be if we ended up buying a place of our own!

Family Vacation

My inlaws, two children, husband, and our dog absolutely loved this clean, cute, cozy, beautiful cottage! The neighborhood was quiet and peaceful and our dog loved walking the neighborhood and taking a dip in the nearby lake. Kris and Andy were very organized and easy to communicate with. We would highly recommend this property again!

I wouldn’t recommend for more than two people

The cottage was location was good, but the biggest issue we had was the water supply. The well is a shared well with a neighboring property, and with a family of 6, we couldn’t take more than two showers without losing water pressure and having to wait for the well to fill back up. That meant no way to flush toilets, wash dishes or run the washing machine for a couple of hours at a time. It was very inconvenient. Nothing was said about the water supply until we received our welcome letter, which mentioned the shared well and possibly running the well dry.. If we had know that beforehand, we wouldn’t have stayed at this property.
Response from VrboOwner on 17 Aug 2021
Hot water heater has been replaced since guests' stay with a larger unit with more storage. Additional work is scheduled for well pump maintenance in a few weeks. Some patience with the water flow rate may always be required however as it is a well with a simple pump and not an unlimited water supply with strong pressure like most city water supply systems provide.

Peaceful Getaway

Very woodsy, peaceful location and public access to the water was nearby. It is a bit off the beaten path, which isn't necessarily a bad thing at times. We are city dwellers, so took some time getting use to:-)

May stay in Door County

Easy to communicate with hosts if needed. Front yard was great for dog, just bring a chain since it is not fenced. Area around the cabin was great for walks. Short drive to Sturgeon Bay. A good place to stay.

Perfect weekend getaway

This little cottage had everything we needed for a fun outdoor getaway with my kids & Golden Retriever. The kids especially loved this tooling around the loop with the bikes, and since I was the only adult I really appreciated not having to pack ours. We greatly enjoyed nature’s beauty at Cave Point & Potawatomi State Park, as well as the sandy beach at Whitefish Bay. Andy was super helpful and attentive to making sure we had everything we needed.

Nice Location

The listing was accurate. We loved the short distance to the beach to watch the sunsets and you could see the bay from the living room. Close to hiking at Potawatami State Park and other fun Door County things. It was a nice getaway.

Great

My husband and I like to ice fish. This place is perfect! We could get right out on the lake a few houses down on our 4 wheeler. Driveway large enough for our big trailer and pickup. Cute place that has everything you need in it! In the summer it would be wonderful also. A very short walk (a couple of houses down) to swim, watch the sunset. I went with my sister there also with our two dogs and let them swim a bit, and the yard is nice with a fire pit. Great place! The owner is very accommodating, helpful and wonderful to work with.

My sis, her dog, me and my dog stayed for 2 nights. Loved it. Has EVERYTHING you need, tv, movies, books, extra blankets, pillows, complete kitchen! Nice big yard, fire pit and can see part of the beautiful sunset across the road or walk a block and sit on a bench and see the water and sunset. We plan on going a lot!
