Place was located in a great area. But it had a smell of cat litter. We booked last minute and it was inexpensive... in a pinch it worked.

At the center!
If you are interested in being as close to downtown happenings as possible, but still have the "stay at your auntie's house" feel, this is a place for you.
Unfortunately for us, the night time in downtown was a bit too busy and loud to sleep comfortably.
The VRBO was nice and clean, although the kitchen could use more gear.
Thank you for letting us stay!

Well perfect location. The negative note would be not ready when arrived at 730pm. Only 2 towels and 1 wash cloth for 4 adults.
Positive, easy stay, clean. Location.
Cute little cottage home. Does need a deep cleaning soon. But all in all good place.
We arrived late, after a delayed train, to find the bed unmade, slept in. We found clean sheets and made the bed. Towels in the bathroom were used, the owner had told us where to find additional towels, so used those. One partial roll of TP (for 4 persons staying 3 nights). We contacted the owner and he provided additional TP. Had a coffee maker, but only enough coffee for 1 pot. We didn't contact the owner, I don't know if that's generally provided, we just purchased coffee and left it. Cute little house in a central location, but smelled of what we thought was probably cat litter box. Owner was responsive to specific requests, but overall not a real pleasant stay. I haven't used VRBO before, based on this experience probably won't try it again.
Only thing that was wrong was it said it was a 3 bedroom and it was a 2 bedroom with a pull out couch in living room which was small. Other than that it was perfect.

Great Downtown location Very unclean house lots to improve
Booked one night stay, our last night in Alaska. Had a wonderful trip, and this last night staying here was very disappointing. Porch light out (we arrived after 9pm), missing light bulb in closet where extra sheets towels are, dirty (stain) sheet for extra bed. Dusty fans, kitchen drawers are more than half empty & dirty. We have pictures to prove, if needed. All in all, lack of basic cleanliness.
Host was nice to give a late check out when asked beforhand.
When I entered, the home had an extremely strong smell of pet urine and air freshener - so bad that we nearly got sick - we could not check in - we had to leave and rent a hotel. I should have read other critical reviews - this property is not currently well maintained or serviced. I contacted the owner, and they immediately denied there was a problem and would not refund my stay. I contacted VRBO support, and they only help if there are photos of a problem - not helpful when the problem isn't visible. I have a strong rating and this host does not. If you want a clean and well maintained property, especially for this price, this is not the property.

Good Location but Just OK
Second bedroom had very crinkly "sheets' - difficult to sleep on. Not much provided in glass department in kitchen - very limited . Not particularly clean, just ok. A little extra attention by the owner could make all the difference in this property. Cute decor.
The space itself was set up beautifully. The location is great and the check in process was very easy. The only gripes I have was the bathroom was not the cleanest and there is a business downstairs and the noise from them can be a little spooky if you’re not prepared for it. Oh and the heater was on the entire time! There was no way to turn it off completely (we visited in the summer). Other than that, it was a nice little place.
This is a very basic props with no frills. We were just looking for a place to sleep for one night and it was adequate for that. The host was very helpful when we had trouble with the TV - he came right away to help us. Good location within walking distance from several restaurants. No black out curtains. Our bed was VERY squeaky and noisy.
I know this is a hard time for many people that depend on tourism, so I want to be gentle in my response. There are some things I think could be improved in your vacation rental.
• Make sure to make contact with your guest at a minimum of 24 hours in advance to let them know how to check in.
• A good clean air freshener is essential when someone walks into a space. The sheets smelled clean on the beds in both bedrooms, but the overall house had an old smell about it. Also, the extra sheets in the closet had several strands of long brown hair on them.
• I know bathrooms are expensive to update, but for the price per night, I expected it to look better. Plus we could only find 4 towels that were not quite white. ( We should have had five, after all we had to pay extra for our fifth person.) There is only one hook for towels and wash cloths in the bathroom. The blue light in the fan is also a little weird. There was one roll of toilet paper in the whole house.
• It was a little frustrating that the listing advertises three bedrooms, but what is considered the third bedroom has no doors and is actually listed as the study.
• For the price, the mattresses need to be better. In the front bedroom the mattress sinks in so much in the middle, my husband and I kept sliding into the middle all night. The bedroom windows also need blackout curtains. It’s Alaska in the summer.
• If you’d like your guests to take their shoes off in the house, you need rugs that fit each room.
• The sprayer in the kitchen sink did not work and there was no coffee grinder as listed.
• If the bathroom, mattresses, and scent were all fixed there would be little need for better decorations. However, the decorations look like a hodge podge of styles and don’t make your place look nicer. All the white covers on the dining room chairs appear dirty. A different color would hide stains. if we had paid less for the listing I would not have an issue, but we could have stayed at a new three star hotel and rented two rooms for the price we paid. My goal in renting was to put money directly in the pocket of Alaskan families though, not a big business. My hope is that you take this as constructive comments. My first instinct was to give less stars, but my intention is not to hurt but help, so I will give you three stars and wish you the best for the future.
Was a very nice place to stay. Close to everything walking distance. Kitchen has ail you need. Cozy
Would recommend for sure

Such a great house for our stay for Iditarod! Clean and very comfortable. Easy access to all of the downtown area shops, restaurants, bars, ect. We had no complaints!
Walk to everything in Anchorage! Pros: comfy beds, nice sheets, lots of extras such as shampoo, teas and spices. Even bear spray! Cons: old house with a parking lot on 2 sides. But the location makes it well worth it. Would stay there again.
Met our needs, quaint little house in middle of downtown.
Overall, had a great experience. Walking distance to restaurants, etc.
I've never rented thru VRBO, so wasn't sure what to expect. I was getting a little nervous when I hadn't heard anything on how to check in and it was a few days from arrival. So I emailed the property manager and did get a response by the next day, so I was relieved. I don't know if that is normal protocol... I guess I was expecting an email with most of those details when I booked it. Overall, would book again.

Property was was not available at check-in time; still being cleaned.
Starting with checking- messaged owner to ask if I could do early check in. They stated the people before me were checking out at 11, so the best they could do at 3pm. Another message from owner stated they were very busy and although checkin is stated at 4pm, they would prefer a 5-6pm checkin. I wasn’t sure if they were confused, so I sent a text stating i’d Be there at 3pm (our flight arrived at 6am). Showed up at 3pm, key not under mat like they stated in an email. Property in a poor location, view of a big building. Old home that has very little upgraded work to it... (and this is the outside)! At 3:15 pm, a truck comes speeding up, a man rushes out of his car, and he runs into the house. We figured he was there to give us the keys... we knocked on the door. He said he needed to ‘clean’ for 45 minutes. So we waited in the car. Clearly the agreed 3pm checkin time was not going to be honored) Finally got the keys at 4pm. Entered home and was extremely disappointed. House has the most minimal decor. Cold, impersonal, and no black out curtains! Wonder to myself how did he clean in 45 minutes (they charge a $75 cleaning fee). towels spinning in the dryer, wondered how they washed/dried the sheets, and put them on the bed in 45 minutes. Coffee maker didn’t work. Pot was an inch too short to trigger the drip system, so I had to stand at the machine and hold it up while it dripped. While I was sleeping, the bed did a big shift. No TV channels. Need a Netflix acct
