Communication with owner was slow and frustrating. Room was lacking the very most basic of amenities. No TV in the room or anywhere in the house, no soap in the bathroom except a commercial hand soap dispenser at the sink and an ancient bottle of VO5 shampoo. Bed was awful. No coffee at the Keurig. Couldn’t wait to leave.

beautiful old historical home. would like to hear the history of this building. Older and needs more updates, but updates making it nice. Seems to be newly open and only one other guest besides my husband and me. Large rooms and enjoyed the porches. Maybe a bit more TLC and attention to details. some areas very clean, but our mini frig was dusty. Also did not know there would be a refrig in the room as that was not listed. Ample off street parking. Enjoyed the courtyard and seating area outside. Bed was comfortable. Footstool needed repair for a tear in fabric. Nice tub shower that worked well. Needs window blinds in two common use rooms. No TV. Enjoyed playing some of the games provided.

Old turn of the century home. Claw foot tubs w/shower. Very quiet.
I kept thinking about what I would say when I gave my review. The Herren house could be an incredible place but it feels like it is managed and not loved.
The place is dark if you happen to enter after the sun goes down and the you literally have to read every name of every door since you have no direction upon arrival which is your room. The toilet in the Henry room, while quaint scared me to death with how loud the flushing mechanism is and I hoped it was working.
Then there was some sort of motion light detector on the wall above my bed so that every time I turned over the light went off. Subsequently I was awake off and on all night.
Lastly I specifically booked a quiet place where I could get busy and get some work done before appt's scheduled the next day and while wifi apparently was available I couldn't find the password anywhere. There was nothing printed in the room - nothing on the website and the house was so dark and empty I didn't feel comfortable walking around downstairs to see if there was any printed information.
All in all - the Herren house is obviously a home that was once loved and stately - now it feels empty and lacks the warmth I am sure it once possessed! Won't be back sadly.
