We all stayed for a week. The cabin was nice.
Short walk to water. Little rocky. Stream next to cabin.Paddle board rentals near by. Good restaurant s in Windham Maine.
Would recommend.
This cottage, and the one next to it, were roughly built. It may have been updated in 2019 but the cables are strung all around the cottage, to provide electricity.
There were 2 hooks in each of the 2 bedrooms and 2 in the bathroom. There was nowhere else to hang clothes. The water smelled strongly of sulfur, which made it very unpleasant to take a shower. We drank bottled water (which we never do) to escape the taste. We also brushed our teeth with the bottled water.
The cottage, itself, and the one next to it, was balanced on large rocks and/or cinder blocks. Nothing moved but it was a little unnerving to see what that flimsy a foundation.

This cottage and the one next to it were built to be seasonal camps, not year round homes. One of the appeals when we purchased the camp was that it had a rustic, camp feel, at a beautiful location. This is what we as a family, and a lot of our guests look forward to when we “go away to camp.”
Neither of the camps are unstable. They’re built like many other camps on the lake, not on an actual cement foundation. My husband is a certified home inspector, so naturally this is something we looked at upon purchasing the property. When we updated plumbing and electric in 2019, the camp was thoroughly inspected by the town of Standish code enforcement. Should it have not passed inspection, we would not have received occupancy and not have been able to rent the camp.
All electrical work was done by a master electrician. All wires are safely installed in switch boxes and neatly run along the interior of the camp as necessary. Yes, they are visible and painted to blend in because there is no insulation or sheetrock covering them (again, like many seasonal camps in the area).
We put a new drilled well in last summer and our water passed the state of Maine basic water test. The test did show that we had slightly elevated levels of manganese and iron (again, common in our area). Although perfectly safe, manganese can give off an odor. Therefore, our plumber installed a whole camp filtration system. This system lessens the smells and sometimes eliminates them completely (depending on the level of manganese coming from the well). Based on the filter schedule in the past, it wasn’t quite time to change the filter during your stay but this can of course vary based on how much water is used by guests.
Had you reached out to me during your stay, we could have come to change the filter. It only takes 5 minutes to change out filters. I can’t fix a problem I don’t know about. I hope that if you book with VRBO again, you’ll reach out to the host with any questions or concerns and give them the opportunity to resolve the issue before leaving a poor review.
If you're looking for the quintessential cabin on a gorgeous lake experience - this is it! The cabin is _a cabin_! It is rustic (though there are heaters and fans), with the bare essentials (no laundry, but we hand-washed, and it was fine). Do not expect more! With that said, it is clean with the necessities. I don't know what the other complainer was on about - they obviously never stayed in a cabin on a lake before. The walls "don't go all the way up" is a normal lake cabin. They are privacy screens only. It's a summer camp, not meant for winter living. The water was clean, potable with no odor. The beds were single mattress (do not expect hotel quality). If you do not want to bring a ton of stuff, there is a Hannaford within 20 minutes, Shaw's nearby and lots of other places to get essentials. The host provides a comprehensive list of things you'll want - Pay Attention! You will want all of those things, plus ingredients/spices if you want to prepare meals yourself, which we did and loved it. They had all the major utensils and an adequate grill. Jordan's store is literally a two minute walk across the street. The kids loved popping over there for treats and souvenirs. Ok - The Lake! OMG. The water was PERFECT. My request for this trip was "Epic Swimming". Nailed It! The water was clear, refreshing, just the right chill getting in , and glorious spending 2-3 swimming sessions every day. The property has it's own tiny beach which was perfect for the littles, ages 8 & 5, (you might want water shoes, but we ditched those after a couple of days when they learned how to navigate the rocks). Definitely bring flipflops for the walk between cabin and beach. The dock is HIGH, but the sand at the bottom served well for dock jumping! All in all, we could not have asked for a better stay. A plus, and completely unexpected pleasure - our neighbors were a delight! <3 Highly recommend!
We loved every minute we were here. The cabin was spotless. Hosts were attentive and responsive.
Pluses- right up the block from coffee at the general store. Swimming and kayaking were great. We had a great week.
Minuses- the dock is dicey if you are renting or bringing a boat. You will have to kayak to the Mooring. The camp walls do not go all the way up, it’s a cabin, it’s Maine, I get it, but privacy is at a premium. Very close, thisclose to the cabin next door. We had wonderful people staying in the cabin next door, it was a non issue for us, but the proximity was surprising.
Overall we had a great, relaxing experience.
The whole experience was fantastic in every way. The cabin is clean and lovely. The private little beach cove is enchanting with easy swimming and kayak access plus bobbing ducks came to visit in the morning. The grille, picnic table, and fire pit were well used, plus the beach around the corner added even more water fun. In all, a week of delightful memories we are most grateful for.
We couldn't have asked for a better place to stay. This cabin was just what we needed, a comfortable, cozy, relaxing place on the water. The beds were amazing and the patio was perfect fir just watching the lake and ducks. (Lots of baby ducks had us laughing.) The tiny babbling brook added another level of relaxing back ground noise. Plus the sunrises over Sebago Lake were phenomenal.
Our hosts made everything perfect. I highly suggest checking their what to bring email to help be prepared.
Lastly we will definitely stay again.
The cabin was very comfortable. My husband and I stayed and had overnight guests one night. Beautiful view and we also saw the most wonderful sunrise off the water..
A perfect combination of rustic and modern convenience, the cabin had two comfortable beds, a basic but well equipped kitchen and living room Picnic table and grill. But the highlight was definitely the view. Right on the water with gorgeous sunrise and easy access. small beach or modest dock. Nothing fancy but very relaxing. The perfect getaway for my teen girls and me. Quick walk to the general store that g had as just about any basics you’d need. Keep in mind that you need to bring towels and a couple of extra blankets.
