This peaceful, coastal retreat on the rocky coast of Maine overlooking Watts and Cutler coves has more than 250 feet of shoreline perfect for kayaking, swimming, wading, and exploring the shoreline. Enjoy morning coffee by the water, and at dusk linger over a glass of wine as the sunset deepens. Secluded, yet within easy reach of Rockland, Camden, and all the treasures of mid-coast Maine. This property offers an unusual combination of peace, natural beauty, and accessibility. An architect's renovation of a lobsterman's cottage (built in 1972), the house retains its original fieldstone fireplace in a contemporary open plan design. The property consists of a 2-bedroom main house and 1-bedroom guest cottage. The main house has floor-to-ceiling windows, well-equipped kitchen, bedrooms, living room, dining area opening onto a large deck, tiled bath, and large deck - all with gorgeous views (and spectacular sunsets) over a saltwater tidal inlet of the St. George River. Just a few steps away (but a world apart), the guest cottage offers a light-filled bedroom with cathedral ceiling, bath, private deck, and expansive water views. Both main and guest houses are just feet from water's edge. Both, furnished with elegance and simplicity, feature clean lines, light-filled, flowing spaces, lovely bedding and bamboo floors. At the end of a quiet lane, this airy, one-level home sits on a large, gently sloping lawn with rocky outcroppings, and mature trees - all set against an ever-changing, dramatic backdrop of water and sky. Explore the river by kayak (3) or canoe (1), swim from the shore, pick berries in season, dabble in tide pools, watch herons, eagles, eider ducks, osprey, and eagles, as well as the occasional seal, otter, and loon. Enjoy lingering sunsets over the water, and starry night skies. Outdoor amenities include Adirondack chairs, fire pit, kayaks, canoe, charcoal grill, hammock, swing, and picnic table. Find comfort, ease, and peace of mind at this exquisite property! This waterfront getaway is within easy reach of beaches, museums, galleries, cafes, bookstores, as well as film, music, and live performance venues, renowned restaurants with eclectic cuisines, lovely fishing villages, lighthouses, farm stands and farmers markets. (Not to mention the highly-regarded lobster shacks that dot the coast). Or kick back in the hammock under the trees and do less!

The house and property are amazing. From fire pits to kayaking we could not ask for anything more. Plus the host James is very responsive and gave a lot of great recommendations for the area. We definitely want to come back again.
What a wonderful place for our first flight away from home since COVID. The house is simply and beautifully designed, and the grounds provide many ways to relax and enjoy the marvelous view. The location is convenient to many other activities and restaurants. We could not have enjoyed the stay more!
This place is magical. Five of us (3 adults, 2 teens) stayed for a week in April, Despite the chilly early spring weather and a couple of very windy days, we had a wonderful stay. The house is beautiful and cozy, sleeping accommodations are comfortable, and there are water views from just about every window to take in the beautiful scenery. We loved watching the birds and even spotted a few seals bobbing in the water. A very peaceful and relaxing getaway.

Thank you Jennifer. So glad you and your family had a wonderful Spring Break (and a birthday celebration) this past week in Maine!
The property is amazing with beautiful views of the water with lots of outdoor seating areas. The house is light filled with lots of windows, nicely furnished, and very comfortable. The guest cottage is darling, providing additional privacy. Everything was very clean and well maintained. The pictures do not do the property justice. It is a peaceful setting yet close to several towns for dining, shopping etc. The host was welcoming and responsive. Very easy to interact with. The property made for an exceptional vacation.
We loved this house and the setting. James was very easy to communicate with beforehand and made some wonderful recommendations for restaurants nearby... (even though we mostly cooked). The layout of the house takes full advantage of its perfect orientation on the property. The cottage with the 3rd bedroom proved perfect for our adult children... a nice respite. The photos do not do the cottage justice. Daily swims in the Long Cove quarry nearby provided relief from a hot week in Maine.
Due to allergies in the family we chose the property for its no pet policy. Shortly after arrival allergies and breathing problems arose. We then discovered the owner keeps a cat when he is in residence and that was the source of the problems. Bear that that in mind when considering this property..otherwise a pleasant stay.

Sorry to hear this Susan. Yes, my home is a ‘no pet policy’ for guests. My cat was there briefly June and the house was thoroughly cleaned after the visit. I encourage all guests to ask any questions prior (and during) the reservation process. You did not inquire if any pets had been at the property… Happy your stay was otherwise pleasant.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. This is a beautiful property with great views of the water. The location makes it easy to visit any number of fun towns like Port Clyde, Camden, and Rockland, to name a few. James is a wonderful host who shows great care for his guests. He provided us with many great suggestions for things to see, do, and eat in the area. When we chose to cook our own meals, the kitchen had everything we needed.
Million dollar views! Large spacious flat yard. Pictures are spot on. Every room has a view of the water. The space was nice and open and bright with all of the floor to ceiling windows. Enjoyed cooking in the kitchen. Very nice quiet location at end of dead end road. Hopefully we can come back when it’s a bit warmer. Owner very quick to respond when emailed.
This cottage is right on a cove on the St. George River. Well appointed with firepit, kayaks and hammock. Sit and watch the wildlife go by or visit nearby towns and restaurants. Loved the little casita in the back, which has great views of the water right from the queen sized bed.
We had a wonderful stay at this cabin. It’s cozy and decorated nicely, there were games for kids, and the kitchen is stocked with all the basics for cooking. The yard is beautiful. We loved making s’mores, paddling in the kayaks, watching the sunset and my kids adored the tree swing. We loved Drift Inn Beach, Birch Point beach, a day trip to Monhegan Island, lighthouses, McCloon’s lobster shack. Convenient to Rockland and Camden. Odd Alewives Brewery in Waldoboro is a great place for pizza and beer. Overall, a very peaceful and beautiful property! Would definitely stay here again.

Erin and family,
So happy you had a wonderful stay. It's a magical place for children (adults too)! Always a treat to share our home with guests that truly appreciate this amazing area. It sounds like lifetime memories were made in Maine this summer!
We had very high expectations of this house and property based on the photos and previous reviews. I was worried we might be disappointed -- but everything exceeded our high expectations. The house is super-clean, un-cluttered and stylishly but comfortably furnished. It was perfect for our family of 5. The property is a true gem -- lots of lawn, spectacular views, and easily accessible water and rocks. We loved our week here relaxing with the gorgeous view, taking advantage of the kayaks and canoe and visiting local sites. James was very responsive to our texts (no issues just some questions) and provided helpful local information. We can't wait to come back!
My husband and I found much-needed peace and quiet in this beautiful little house in Tenant's Harbor and came away rejuvenated by the setting, space, and natural surroundings - it was just what we needed - thank you!
The property and the house were fabulous! We enjoyed the sunsets, the fire pit, and the kayaks/canoes. It was a very memorable weekend for all. The setting is peaceful and serene with the sounds of nature and wildlife but very close to the galleries and shops of Rockland and Camden. We also took the ferry to Monhegan Island for a day and enjoyed the hiking and a stop at the local brewery. We will return!
Don't think any harder about this one, just book it. We loved our stay! We were two couples, and the separate guest house offered just enough privacy. We made good use of the kayaks and canoe, the fire pit, and the charcoal grill. We loved exploring the area and cooking in the well-appointed kitchen. Mostly though, we sat and stared at the perfect view of the St. George River, which is different from hour to hour. We even saw a pair of river otters cross the yard one morning! James was responsive and helpful. We'll be back!
This was one of the very best VRBO properties we’ve visited. The owner/host is great. The property well supplied and perfect for group from 2-6. The location divine. Kayaks supplied were great. Can’t say enough positive. Loved sleeping in the little ‘bunkie”. Even if you’re just a couple I would recommend this !
One of the most beautiful properties we’ve ever stayed at. Saw seals, bald eagles, heron, crabs, lions. The kids were thrilled. The sunsets were world class. Evening swing sessions proved the perfect antidote to 2020. Thank you, James!
River Watch is spectacular! The house is stylishly appointed and very comfortable. We loved the open floor plan and wrap-around windows that gave us a panoramic view of the breathtaking scenery outdoors, where bald eagles, osprey and harbor seals could be spotted daily! We will definitely be back!
