The "Casa do Castelo" is an apartment located on the second floor of a building in the historic area recovered centennial S. Castle Jorge in Lisbon. The house is in a quiet area, where you can wake up, to dismiss the alarm, with the chirping of birds or the bell of Grace church. With magnificent views over the city, the castle house has two bedrooms, living room, dining area, kitchen, bathroom and a very nice outdoor terrace. The castle, the Moorish, the church of S. Vicente de Fora and the Flea Market, the neighborhoods of Grace, Alfama and Mouraria are at a distance of a short walk, as well as downtown Lisbon. Nearby you can find several restaurants, cafes or bars.

The "Castle House" is an apartment located on the second floor of a centenary building recovered in the historic area of ​​Saint George castle in Lisbon. The house is in a quiet area, where you can wake up with the chirping of birds or the bell of Grace church. João was extremely helpful when some problems arose with my trip. The apartment is great, and has the most beautiful view in the city. The kitchen is well-furnished with equipment. The heat in each room was appreciated on cold and rainy nights. I would recommend.

Great spot

Joao, really has a sweet spot overlooking the old town and within walking distance 5min or less of authentic Portuguese cuisine and many other cultures. The old town is quite to stay and sleep and the building is historic and brings in all the culture of Portugal. Wojld stay here again.

João's apartment was excellent. All you might need for a city stay and more. Much more spacious than you might expect for a city centre location... this apartment being just below the Castle! Also for a city centre location, the area is quite quiet, the road being restricted access. A comfortable and airy apartment, clean and tidy.

What a view…

The apt is clean, nicely laid out for a short stay. Kitchen, eating area and patio all make for meals at home nice and easy. The owner is helpful and easy to reach. Many restaurants close by and everything is easily walkable… lots of up & down. And there is the view :)

Lovely european apartment with outdoor terrace and view of lisbon city. Located behind castelo sao jorge on top of the hill. Stairs or incline streets to access and close walking to the metro. Host was very good communicating and instructions were clear.

Great base place to explore Lisbon’s sites. Beautiful views from the apartment. Host is responsive and gave clear access instructions. Please note, as other reviewers mentioned, the location is very hilly with numerous stairs to access the property and the apartment. Suggest using the nearby elevators as much as possible!Additionally the sewer smell inside the building was not pleasant.

Perfect location in historic area

The apartment was adequate for 3 people, with 2 bedrooms. The living room area could use another good chair other than the old bean bag chair currently there. My only complaint relates to the very loud construction going on outside all day long which the owner would have no control over, though a warning would have been appreciated.

Our stay at Joao's place was great. Beds were nice. Plenty of space for two adults and two kids. Well stocked kitchen for preparing your meals. Washer with a clothes rack on a private terrace. Location wise, the Castelo Castle area is on a steep hill and as a result you will need to climb up and down stairs to get anywhere, but at night (because of the elevation) you get a really nice breeze that cools down the apartment. Very close to a major grocery store with most of your needs (Pingo Doce - Chão do Loureiro) and a more health centric grocery store (Celeiro). Easy access to the metro (10 min walk) down the hill to Martim Moniz station which will get you on the subway Green line.Finally, you can't beat the view from the bedroom - see for yourself!

Quirky but nice

This is a very retro style, beautifully located apartment with fabulous views in a location for people with good knees who want to explore the Alfama. It would suit fit people who can carry their bags up stairs and don’t require high spec or very up to date decor and facilities. Perfect for someone like me, who is comfy in a 70s environment. The location just below Sao Jorge, with breathtaking views makes up for it. The place was clean and Owner communicative and helpful

Great location

The apartment is situated in Alfama, the oldest part of Lisboa; it features a great view. To walk there from the centre is fairly quick, yet it requires a fit person (or an affordable taxi ride or public transport), The apartment is unusually spacy and well furnished. We did not use the kitchen equipment, but it looked complete and fit. It is not the fault of the patron that there is noise from a building site on the other side of the road - this will presumably go on for a longer period of time. The only thing I disliked were the Incontinence underlays in the bed. Overall an outstanding site and a caring and responsive patron.

We had a great time staying in Joao's apartment. The location was excellent, very close to everything, with fantastic views. Joao provided very helpful information, both before we travelled and in the documentation in the apartment. He was also very good at checking with us to ensure that everything was ok.The kitchen was well equipped. The beds were very comfortable. It was also great having some outside space. I would recommend this apartment to others.

The castle home was my first home. I have redesigned it according to an architecture project thought to enjoy the spaces tailored to my needs and family growth. When it became too small, instead of sell I decided to stick with it and I hope that my daughters can be so happy in it when they grow up as I went.
