Casa de las Mariposas sits on approximately 9.75 acres (3.95 hectares), combining maintained outdoor areas with natural mountainside jungle.

The home, private pool, and main outdoor living spaces sit on a flatter area of the property. From there, guests can walk down to a lower flat area with fruit trees and a tropical garden.

Much of the remaining acreage extends up the mountainside as steep, undeveloped jungle. This natural area creates a buffer around the home, providing exceptional privacy, lush tropical scenery, and habitat for local wildlife.

WILDLIFE & NATURE

Nature is part of the experience at Casa de las Mariposas. Guests have reported seeing toucans, scarlet macaws, hummingbirds, parrots, capuchin monkeys, coatis, butterflies, and other wildlife around the property.

Sightings are never guaranteed, but the surrounding jungle and tropical gardens provide plenty of opportunities to watch and listen for Costa Rica’s wildlife without leaving home.

4X4 VEHICLE REQUIRED

A 4x4 vehicle is required to reach Casa de las Mariposas.

The home is located on a mountain, and the road leading to the property cannot be accessed without a 4x4. Please reserve an appropriate 4x4 vehicle when making your travel arrangements.

The mountain location is part of what provides the home’s privacy, jungle surroundings, and views, but proper transportation is essential.

SINGLE-LEVEL HOME & SHOWER ACCESS

Casa de las Mariposas is a one-story home with no steps required to enter.

The shower has a small raised ledge that guests must step over to enter.

TROPICAL JUNGLE SETTING

Casa de las Mariposas is surrounded by a living tropical environment. Birds, insects, and wildlife are a natural part of the setting and one of the things many guests enjoy about staying here.

Please observe wildlife from a respectful distance and never feed or approach wild animals.

LOCATION & TRANSPORTATION

Casa de las Mariposas is a secluded mountain property rather than an in-town or walk-to-beach home. Driving is necessary for restaurants, groceries, beaches, waterfalls, and other area attractions.

The home is professionally cleaned before each stay, and a local property manager provides on-the-ground assistance when needed.
