Short weekend getaway with My Daughter was so nice and PEACEFUL. We enjoyed it so much so we just left this morning and are planning on booking again. Definitely a place I needed this weekend
The hosts were amazing, they made sure our stay was perfect. The animals on the property were great for our toddler to interact with and the lake/trails were really peaceful and relaxing. Would definitely recommend!
We had a great time at the cabin. The kids loved the boats, the tree house, interacting with the animals and sitting by the fire. Highly recommended and we will be back soon.

Wonderful! Happy to hear everyone had a great time! Hope you can return soon!
We had a great time while staying at the Log Cabin. We especially enjoyed the farm animals
(the main reason we picked the place). & daily visits from the adorable dog, Mabel, & cat Midnight.
We had an amazing experience! We will definitely be back!
The property owners are great! We had great communication, they went above and beyond to ensure we had a great experience, and the rental was everything as advertised and more!
We miss it already and planning our next stay!! It exceeded our expectations. The lake, trails, animals.. all of it! We loved the location and took advantage of all the activities on the property. Thank you for sharing your beautiful property with us.
We had a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend getaway at Lake Glen Haven! The cabin had everything we needed, very clean, and decorated so cool! Our teenagers loved visiting the animals nearby, kayaking on the lake, hiking the trails, and relaxing in the cool loft of the cabin. Our family needed a place to disconnect from busy schedules and reconnect as a family, and this was the perfect spot to do so!

Thanks for a wonderful review, it's so nice to hear that your family enjoyed the entire property!
We love the property and the owners Ashleigh & Mike were a pleasure to meet as well as accommodating anything we needed. It was a great location to hit all the local breweries and wineries. I'd recommend them to anyone looking for a great little getaway spot but in a great location for activities.
The Gately Family!
Wonderful trip. Cabin was so perfectly decorated and clean. The owner thought of everything including food to feed the ducks. Kitchen fully stocked for cooking meals. Walking trails were fantastic! Highly recommend.
Great experience and will definitely come back. Good communication with the owners, and they were super nice - they shared their farm fresh eggs with us. So we were all set for breakfast! The property itself was really nice. It was just the right size for a couple and it had a grill which was a plus. There’s lots to do on the property - boating, hiking, and our favorite was feeding the animals. For hiking, I recommend the Jack’s Jaunt trail. It’s also close to Charlottesville so that’s a good day trip as well.
Wife and I brought our labradoodle and infant son seeking some fresh air and relaxing fun, and the cabin at Lake Glen provided just that. Check in/out was simple, the place was tidy and well stocked with necessities, and we felt right at home. I’d certainty come back and maybe check out staying in the silo or riverboat. Thanks again!
The cabin was clean, and decorated with just the right flare. The view of the lake and the backyard lights made for amazing evenings by the fire. The trails and lake toys were a perfect addition. The hosts were eager to be of assistance but never intrusive. We loved the cabin and the family. Definitely a great place to unwind.
We had the most amazing weekend at Lake Glen Haven! Ashleigh and Mike have truly thought of everything guests could want in a property, and we felt so well looked after. The cabin was as adorable as we imagined, and we loved waking up each morning to a view of the lake!
Even though the weather was starting to cool off, there was still so much to do on the property from the hiking trails, fire pits, beautiful seating areas and visiting farm animals! We can’t wait to come back during different seasons and enjoy all of the different amenities it has to offer.
Thank you again for such a great stay, and we can’t wait to return!

Thank you Elle! We love reading reviews where everyone enjoyed so much of the property!
This was exactly what I was looking for. Perfect place to escape from busy daily routine and decompress. The cabin was smaller then I imagined but cozy and comfortable. The property is beautiful, peaceful and huge. We spent the whole time on the property hiking, boating, fishing by day and sitting around the fire pit at nights. Ashleigh and Mike are genuinely happy, friendly people who made us feel very comfortable. I hope to return for another stay.
We decided to look for a place after dropping off our son at NC State. What a wonderful couple of days!! Our teenage boys (aged 14 and 17) loved taking out the row boat and paddle board to fish. They caught something every time they put in their poles. Water was warm and cabin was cozy. Boys will definitely want to return!!
The reason we decided to stay at this property is to interact with the farm animals. We never met the animals or the owners. Later we found the owners were not on site. Their dogs continued to come on the property of the rental to BARK at us whenever we were outside as if we were intruders. Needless to say this was annoying and not even relaxing. The home is an open floor layout and not much privacy. The rental faces the owners home like a rock distance throw.
I had to vacuum and sweep all of the leftover dog hair before sitting on the couch. The lake was dirty and couldn’t imagine swimming in this water. No communication from the host.
We DID NOT receive hospitality that I read in other reviews. There was No WIFi service.

Response from VrboOwner on 6 Sept 2023
As they say, you can't please everyone all the time, BUT we sure do try! After 565 5 star reviews (all 4 of our listings and 2 platforms), we finally received our first negative comment.
We reached out to Kimberly when she arrived, as we do with all our guests, to make sure everything was as expected. She never responded to any of our pre check in communication or the message asking how everything was upon checkin... until the day of checkout, sending us a rude comment. We reached out immediately. After a short conversation, it turns out she was surprised our house was nearby (250' away with a privacy fence exactly as written in the listing), and didn't like our other guests having dogs (on the other side of the lake). She said nothing about dogs barking or cleanliness. She demanded a refund or she would leave a negative review.
Had she reached out during her stay, or given us a chance to fix whatever she wasn't happy with, we would certainly have considered a refund.
To address the other things she mentions...
1)The cabin clearly faces the Lake as anyone can see in the pictures... not our house as she wrote.
2)Wifi is provided through Starlink currently (fiber optic coming soon) we get speeds from 50-150 Mbps unlimited, unless there is a lot of rain. It is far faster and more reliable than it has ever been for us out here in the country. As stated in the listing "please don't come for the fast internet".
3) The lake is cleaner than nearby Lake Anna and is as pictured (most guests tell us the pictures don't do it justice). Our family and most guests swim in it daily. It's clear enough to see my feet 6' down. After a big rain it does take a day or so for the cloudiness to clear up. Even still swimming it a natural lake is not for everyone and I completely understand that.
4) The farm animals she couldn't find were everywhere... sheep, turkey, and chickens in a fence 75' behind the cabin (you can hear them frequently), chickens and bunnies 100' to the left of the cabin near the lake. Friendly Ducks that will swim right up to the dock.. we leave duck feed at all the listings for guests to feed the ducks.
5) It is possible that a stray dog came onto the property, but we can't do anything about it if we don't know. Our dog is a 45lb golden doodle that doesn't bark, so I am confident she's stretching the truth again here.
We can provide the perfect country escape, but we can't make you have fun!
We provide a fire pit, 5 miles of hiking and biking trails, 2 kayaks, a stand up paddle board, row boat, pedal boat, dock, fresh eggs from our chickens, fishing poles and tackle box, life vests, games, hammock, the most comfortable beds we could find, and a truly fully stocked kitchen and house.
Check out our other reviews, I'm confident you won't be disappointed!
Ashleigh and Mike
This is a wonderful rental that’s a short drive off the highway but feels miles away from the hustle and bustle. The cabin is lovely - just the right amount of space for our family of 5 and 2 dogs. The kids loved the loft with swings and a gorgeous lake view. No need to plan other activities as there is so much to explore here - the island, the trails, the lake, the animals, and most of all the family that owns this property! They are delightful hosts - happy to answer questions and share their eggs that were laid the same day, a real treat! We enjoyed the serenity of the farm while walking the trails letting our dogs & kids run and explore to their hearts content. Their friends from a neighboring farm brought lovely horses over and took us on a trail ride - I highly recommend booking this experience! Local restaurants in Gordonsville are a quick drive. We tried Champion Ice House - highly recommend for their fried chicken!
Our stay was amazing from start to finish! Ashleigh let us check in early which was so nice. We arrived and met sweet Mabel. She was the sweetest pup and loved to walk around with us. She even went on a run with my husband. The cabin is so nice and cozy. I only wish it had curtains that weren't see through. I know there is no one around but just for peace of mind! The cabin was perfect on the water. We were able to use the row boat to catch some small bass and huge bluegill!! We were so happy with the chance to stay here! And we will come back (:
The cabin was clean, charming, and had everything you could want or need. The animals were all very cute--we especially loved feeding the ducks! There are many trails to walk and the scenery is beautiful. The dock area has lots to do--row boat, pedal boat, kayaks etc. Ashleigh was a great host and highly communicative. She responded to every text right away and made us feel comfortable upon our arrival. A great spot to have some fun with family!
