New split air conditioning to both living room and bedroom. Unit also gets ocean breezes through lanai screens and mountain breezes through front door screen. Two ceiling fans. Roll Down Sun Shade on lanai allows the view but cools the lanai 10 degrees. A tropical paradise! Washer- dryer

Kihei Akahi is across the street from Kamaole Beach Park II, a great beach for sunbathing, walking, swimming, snorkeling, boogie boarding, and whale watching (in season), and within walking distance of several of Maui's most popular beaches. Steps away from several small shopping centers with a variety of shopping and dining options. Wailea and Makena are a short drive, with some of Maui's best golf courses and the 'Shops of Wailea'.

Great location in South Kihei. It’s about a 3 minute walk to great Kamole Beaches. The owner has equipped the condo with practically everything you could need. We would definitely stay here again.

Great place to stay in Kihei

Well located and equipped property with views of the ocean and the sunset. Lovely beaches just over the road, 5 minutes walk away. Good restaurants nearby. A family friendly, well maintained condo building, with nice grounds and two pools. We really enjoyed our stay and thank you to our hosts.

Kihei stay - outstanding

Location and unit were amazing. The views from the lanai are incredible. The unit itself is well maintained, very clean and comfortable. The kitchen amenities were very clean and a good variety to use if you decide to stay in and cook. We really enjoyed the place and the owner was very helpful and responded immediately. This has been a great vacation and would stay here again.

Picture yourself sipping drinks on a beautiful lanai overlooking the ocean at sunset in Kihei, Maui. This condo is beautifully decorated, with a comfy bed. Great Stay in Kihei

We love Kihei Akahi. Booking and checkin were simple and convenient. The unit was clean and well stocked. We used the beach chairs and umbrella every time we went to the beach. The unit had an ocean view. We were even able to see the July 4th fireworks show. There are several places to eat within walking distance, Coconuts being our favorite. We will definitely stay here again.

Just Perfect!

Diane's condo has a fabulous view (one of my main criteria), completely upscale furnishings and kitchen with all necessary amenities. Have beach chairs, umbrella and small cooler were icing on the cake. She was quick to respond to our issue with the sun shared and followed up. This is a great location for Kihei - everything is walkable from this location - Kama'ole Beach II is directly across the road. I'd stay here again in a heartbeat.

Before we arrived, the host sent check in instructions and also included information about where to shop, entertainment, and sightseeing. This information was a Plus! The condo was supplied with beach needs, a totally equipped kitchen, a/c in living room and bedroom, although it wasn’t needed. Host responded quickly to emails. I’ll happily stay here again. Our stay at Kihei Akahi unit D514

This was our 4th time staying at Kihei Akahi and we had a fantastic time. The view from the 5th floor was incredible. Everything we needed was in the condo and even though it has air conditioning we didn't use it as there was always a breeze blowing. We certainly hope to be back again in the near future. We loved the view from the balcony where we spent several hours. The easy beach access was a bonus as was the swimming pool area just steps from our front door. The fact that everything was functional and in good repair was not taken for granted. From our perspective, we believe Jarrod is an ‘Ace’ for you as he tended to a couple of MINOR issues - like sorting out the TV remotes - both promptly and professionally. Many thanks!

Beautiful view and very comfortable

Diane equipped the unit with everything we could have needed. She was responsive when there was a small condo issue. The view of the lanai is truly 180 degrees of blue ocean. The grounds and the pool of Kihei Akahi are also pretty and nicely located close to shops and restaurants. I wish the Lana’i were bigger and didn’t have the ac unit blowing warm air but it wasn’t a big deal.

Thank you for the nice review. It really is best to turn off the AC when the door is open and people are on the lanai. This conserves energy, and prevents the warm air from the AC from being blown back into the condo by the ocean breeze. The size of the lanai is as pictured, in case future guests are wondering. There are 2 bar height chairs and table for seeing the view over the rail and 2 extra chairs for friends or family. Mahalo.

Loved the condo- perfect size for two people. Took advantage of all the beach supplies in the closet and got to see some sea turtles while snorkeling at the boat dock less than a mile walk away. I was laughing at the previous reviews about the bird that wakes you up, like hello it’s hawaii what do you expect, but just be aware- That bird is LOUD and the walls are thin Lol. My only real complaint was that the mattess is very firm(felt like a board to me) so I tried to sleep on the couch bed, but it was worse. I have a bad back, so I’m a bit picky about beds, but if you’re the same way just be warned it was hard to sleep. Overall it was a great stay (complimentary wine and chocolates made my day when we arrived) and everything is just as advertised.

Views, comfort and convenience.

Diane's Kihei condo offers a fantastic ocean view where we watched countless whales blowing, breaching and slapping the water with their tails and pectoral fins. This is such a captivating thing to watch. The comfortable condo is well located near numerous South Kihei shops, restaurants and beaches all within walking distance. My wife and I love snorkelling and we explored several of Maui's recommended snorkeling spots that are only a short drive away. Diane provides many useful items in the condo to make your stay fantastic. We appreciated the two pairs of binoculars and several good books covering things to do on Maui, best snorkeling spots and Hawaiian fish. The many other useful items included with the rental are shown in the listing. These were all good quality and in good condition. We had great and friendly communications with Diane and a smooth check-in and check out. I highly recommend this condo.

Amazing View!

We had a wonderful stay, the view is lovely when it's overcast, but spectacular when the sky clears! The condo has everything you need for a wonderful stay and a great location next to shops and a very short walk to the beach. There is no A/C but most of the time it cools comfortably with the breeze, just one day it was uncomfortable but it may be because of a big storm that was brewing, after that smooth sailing. For those light sleepers, the bedroom faces the parking lot five floors down, and there is a weird phenomenon where if your windows are open anyone talking in the parking lot below sounds like they are at the foot of your bed. The complex posts Quiet Time signs which I think people generally respect, it was pretty quiet most of the time. The coded door lock is super convenient! This place is perfect for a couple, it's very romantic. We had a toddler with us and I say save it for the older kids or a romantic couples stay, there are a lot of dangerous breakable things within arms reach and we had to be constantly vigilant, but the owner warned us about this. She is great, super helpful and gives a lot of useful information about the local area. I highly recommend this place!

Aloha Sarah, I'm so glad you had a good time and thank you for taking the time to write. You actually bring up issues that we have thought hard about. We prefer not to exclude families with small children so I am glad you managed ok with the advance notice that it is more of an "adult" condo. We decided not to install A/C because of the risk of mold. We do have 2 ceiling fans, 2 desk fans and as you experienced, we have a lovely cross breeze and can hear the ocean. We first set foot on Maui as young honeymooners when we hiked across Haleakala and camped. We have been frequent visitors to Maui every since.

Why they chose this property

Hubby and I dreamt of a sunny getaway to escape the Pacific west coast rain for decades. And whenever we returned to Maui, it felt like home. We wanted a place in friendly Kihei, within walking distance to shops and restaurants, a stone's throw away from a beautiful beach. Nothing felt right until we opened the door to D514 and saw that amazing view. We renovated with Hawaiian landscape and culture in mind: bamboo cupboards, Hawaiian artwork, and mirrors to bring the outside in. A final touch was the conch shell to blow at sunset and the dried pineapple art box on the kitchen wall, a symbol of hospitality. Now we share our love of Maui and Kihei with family, friends and new and returning guests near and far. In 2018, we bought our sister condo D614 to accommodate more guests as well as couples and families who want to travel together, but have the privacy of their own place.
