We hosted these guests during an unfortunate time when Myrtle Beach had experienced a hurricane, resulting in a state of emergency with flooding, strong winds, and heavy rain. Despite the challenging weather, we did our best to ensure their stay was comfortable. Due to the storm, the smart lock at our property malfunctioned. However, we were prepared with a backup key on site that was easily accessible via lockbox code, so there was no delay in their entry to the property. The home had been thoroughly cleaned and documented with photographs prior to their arrival. Unfortunately, the AC unit encountered an issue during their stay, which they reported during evening hours on Saturday when many were without power, let alone AC! We immediately dispatched a service technician, who arrived promptly. The technician identified the problem and informed us that a part would be needed, which they could only obtain the following morning. To accommodate the guests, we paid to cover their dinner expenses and provided them with the option to either relocate to another of our units, cancel all together and choose a different property or stay the night free of charge with three fans provided to ensure comfort. They chose to remain, and the AC was fully repaired by noon the following day. Despite our prompt response and efforts to make up for the inconvenience caused by the weather and the unexpected AC issue, the guests left a negative review. Unfortunately, this review appears to be in retaliation for retaining a portion of their security deposit to cover damages to the property during their stay. They also threatened this bad review shortly after entering and documentation of this was provided to vrbo. While we regret that their stay did not meet their expectations, we believe we acted fairly and promptly in all aspects of their stay. We strive to provide each guest with clean and comfortable accommodations but faced some obstacles which we did everything we could to offset them. Given the challenges faced and the outcome of this experience, we will not host these guests again.
