The space is homey, comfortable and had great amenities. You’ll LOVE the shower which is also a Steam Room with a bench to sit and relax in. My partner and I loved being able to do laundry also. Great value for the money.
had a wonderful time with great proximity to all of the local sites! we'll definitely book again when we return to new orleans! thanks! :)

Cramped quarters due to low ceilings. Kitchen/laundry combo was small and not well equipped (no oven, range).A slight musty smell.

Thank you for your feedback. We strive to be as transparent and accurate as possible in our listing. You will note that the listing and photos do in fact make it clear regarding the low ceilings and kitchen appliances. We wish you all the best in your future travels.
Great location, quiet safe neighborhood, quick walk to the street car that will take you anywhere in the city. The apartment was clean and well kept andnhad everything we needed. This is in the basement of the house so the celings are low so if your in the taller side it could be uncomfortable. Must try resturant a few blocks away, Toups Meatery. Absolutely excelent food with great customer service!
This place was perfect for our NOLA trip! It had everything that we needed and was exactly as described. I’m pretty tall and I was fine there but really tall people may not enjoy this place as much.We could walk to the trolley stop, several restaurants and City Park but we really felt like we were in a nice quiet area. Parking was never an issue-we were able to find street parking right in front, day or night. Thomas was super responsive and accommodating when we decided to arrive a day early and extend our trip a day.
Great Location. It was OK but hard to walk in with suitcases because of the Tesla blocking most of the drive way. It would be better if it was parked closer to the house.

The apartment is much cheaper than other Airbnbs in the same neighborhood. The tenant never complained about the car being in the way otherwise I would have had it moved.
The location is in a great neighborhood. Quiet, clean, and close to everything in New Orleans to explore. My husband is on the taller end so he had to be cautious. But other than that the house is amazing!! Thank you Thomas!!
I was very comfortable here! The unit is very clean and had a lot of space for all of my stuff. The decor and neighborhood are super cute too. As others have mentioned, the ceiling is low; I measured the height at 6 ft 3 in, but it didn’t bother me. And speaking of living on the first level of a home, you will faintly hear the goings-on above you sometimes. The toilet and washing machine are very finicky, but they do work. The host will move his car from the driveway to expedite your move-in/out if you ask. Overall, I’d definitely book here again.
This was the perfect spot for Jazz Fest. Super close to City Park and access to the Fairgrounds!

Why they chose this property
Bayou St. John is one of New Orleans' most charming, laid-back neighborhoods—residential and quiet, yet steps from the scenic bayou and minutes from the action.
Right outside, stroll, jog, or bike along the water, paddle a kayak on the bayou, or cross the picturesque historic Magnolia footbridge.
You're walking distance to City Park—one of the largest urban parks in the country—home to the New Orleans Museum of Art, its free sculpture garden, the Botanical Garden, and ancient live oaks. Just beyond sits the Fair Grounds, home of the legendary New Orleans Jazz Fest each spring.
It's a food lover's dream, too. You're blocks from local institutions: Parkway Bakery & Tavern for the city's famous po-boys, Blue Oak BBQ, Spanish paella at Lola's, and classic French bistro fare at Café Degas.
Set along oak-lined Esplanade Avenue, you're wonderfully connected—walkable, bike-friendly, and a quick streetcar or ride from the French Quarter, Tremé, and the rest of the city.
You're in one of the most walkable, bike-friendly corners of New Orleans, with easy ways to reach the rest of the city:
On foot: The bayou, City Park, and Esplanade Avenue's restaurants are all a short stroll away.
By bike: Flat, scenic, and easy—cruise the bayou path or the Lafitte Greenway straight into the French Quarter.
No bike? Grab a Blue Bikes e-bike right from the app in the neighborhood (about 15–20 minutes to the Quarter).
Streetcar: Catch the historic Canal–City Park/Museum line at the edge of City Park and ride down to the CBD and French Quarter. Tickets on the RTA Le Pass app.
Bus: The Esplanade bus heads right into the French Quarter and connects you citywide.
Rideshare: Uber and Lyft are quick and plentiful—roughly 10 minutes to the Quarter, ideal for a night out.
By car: Enjoy free, unrestricted street parking right out front—perfect for grocery runs and day trips.
What makes this property unique
Your private, garden-level one-bedroom has its own entrance and everything you need to settle right in: - Spa-inspired shower, complete with a built-in steam feature—your own private retreat to melt away the day after exploring the city. - Well-equipped kitchenette featuring a Cosori 12-in-1 air fryer, Cuisinart double burner, microwave, and toaster—everything you need for easy meals between visits to the city's legendary restaurants. - Free, unrestricted street parking right out front—a rare find in New Orleans - Free in-unit washer & dryer, so you can pack light - Fast WiFi and central air conditioning - Two smart TVs with local channels included. Streaming apps like Netflix and Hulu are loaded on the TVs—just sign in with your own accounts to watch and remember to log out before checkout.
A cozy note on the space: this is a garden-level (ground-floor) apartment with the lower ceilings and doorways that come with a historic New Orleans home. It's snug in the best way—but in the spirit of honesty, it fits some heights more comfortably than others.
A rough guide: if you stand around the stature of Louis Armstrong (5'6"), Miles Davis (5'7"), John Coltrane (5'8"), Dr. John (5'9"), Cab Calloway (5'10"), you'll feel right at home. If you rise to the heights of Duke Ellington (6'1") or Big Freedia (6'2"), you may find the ceilings a touch close for comfort.
