Nice place to stay with our family and dog. Easy access to hiking spots and other outdoor activities. The lake was a perfect spot to kayak and swim. Would definitely stay there again.
It was a great get away. Not too far from necessities. Only down side was really the water a lot of air pockets making it hard to shower. No cable and internet so bring games! It was great to take a step away from electronics.
Was a great place to stay. Very accommodating for my family and the creek was perfect for the kids to play. Very close to old forge so we also got to spend the day shopping and at enchanted forest. I will definatly be back!
The cabin had everything we needed for a relaxing fall week. The owner/management were friendly and easy to work with. Answered all my questions quickly.
We had a great time. Place was clean and beds were comfortable. The family really enjoyed the lake and the view by the water. We had to buy fans because there's no A/C and it was hot outside but we left them there for future guests also added to the utensils. All in all great experience

Liked: Cleanliness, check-in, communication
Property was nice, rustic. Lots of room for parking. When in the back yard, you can’t hear Rt. 28 traffic as much. Dock area was nice. It feels like you’re walking through other people’s yard to get there, but that didn’t bother us, nor did the neighbors say anything. We cleaned up after ourselves daily but there were ants in the kitchen and bathroom. Website says WiFi but that is NOT the case. Don’t rely on that. Tv remote was also missing (not that we needed it) It was warm and sticky. Screens in the windows aren’t completely sealed so bugs could easily get in. Some windows also didn’t open at all. There are overhead fans in the bedrooms and 1 in the living room, but don’t push around much air. Bring fans if staying in summer months. Front screen porch locks from the outside which is odd. Bring your own sponges & hot pads if you plan on cooking.
Had a wondeful stay here with my son for a small getaway for just the two of us. Met with the property manager at check in and received keys and a small tour. Very very peaceful stay. Front porch has both screened in area as well as open with a grill for use. They have provided nice furniture on the enclosed portion of the porch which was perfect for enjoying your morning coffee. The dock was a short path away and we used the dock access for swiming and fishing which was awesome. Spent alot of time at the lake and swimming. Wood provided for the fire pit out back which was a nice touch and didnt have to buy wood. Water pressure wasnt great but we def made due. They also provided a water cooler and 2 five gallon jugs of water so that was a nice touch. We did invest in a couple small fans since theres no ac but it stayed cooler in the house since it was in a shady location. Over all was a great stay! Owner is very responsive to messages on vrbo and communication was a breeze.
My wife and I stayed for a weekend in August, it was a pretty good place to relax and decompress. Listing is very accurate, and the water access is easy to get there.
Couple things that we did notice:
* Its right next to a rural road with a 50mph speed limit in the area. Mostly was easy to cross the road, but there were periods where we had to wait a couple minutes to get an opening to cross with a standup paddleboard.
* It is next to a rural road, which means car noises. Keeping the doors closed killed the sound, so no problems there, but it is definitely noticeable background noise when on the screened-in porch. It is much less noticeable when outside by the fire pit in the back.
* It does smell kind of musty in the evenings, especially close to the floor. The land is fairly damp, and its right next to a stream. Air fresheners are helpful. There were a couple plugged in, but could use some more.
* I'm deaf, my wife is hearing, and she could hear mice or squirrels in the roof overhead the bedroom. Not really a big deal, but noticeable if you're a light sleeper.
* Internet is available, but is satellite.
Thanks for a previous reviewer to give a heads up about the small hot water tank. We avoided any hot water runouts except for one shower with a few minutes of lingering.
Overall, this is a pretty minimalistic place: beds, kitchen, shower and a place to relax. Pretty much what we were looking for.
SAVE URSELF THE STAY FROM A 26 YR LAW ENFORCEMENT VETERAN
POSITIVES= the property was clean inside
NEGATIVES= property located on busy state hwy and is difficult to cross on weekends and evening traffic, the dock is located across the road and approximately 100 yards done a non-maintained path between other cabins and new a new build house which has dogs and they do NOT leash them.
UNACCEPTABLE ACTIONS=The "Doorman" came on our 2nd day of rental, there were NO cars in the driveway at the time giving the appearance of nobody home and entered the front door of the enclosed screened-in porch, when he got to the inside of the enclosed porch, he made eye contact with my 15 yr old daughter who was sitting on the couch, the "Doorman" then turned and fled the property. The CNY property gave several excuses as to why he was there and it was stated that he was trying to relay "messages", yet there were NO cars there and when he did see a person he turned and fled. Then the excuse of he was leaving "Firebricks" on the porch, yet he was lurking in the windows. The Screen door on the front porch can NOT be locked due to the door being put on backwards and the lock is on the outside. The rear cabin wooden door can NOT be locked due to the latch would not "catch" on the door frame no matter what i did. I was able to secure the rear door with my own knowledge making it secure. After this incident and several communications back and forth with the "CNY Pr manager" who claims the doorman is her brother, we felt this is unsafe and packed and left.
We accept all feedback from our renters and genuinely try to incorporate their suggestions in order to make the next renters experience more enjoyable. In this case, unfortunately both parties were not a good fit. We have had many renters and the one constant praise has been the way management treats their renters. You sir, have been our 1st...
I realize you cannot please everyone, but I feel your reaction to a gesture of good will without listening to reason is inappropriate and quite frankly, off-putting.
I sincerely apologize again for any deemed threats you precieved on your safety.. regardless how seeded in paranoia it might be.
The place was nice. Had some neat older features which was really cool!
The manager was great, gave us the info needed, answered questions…
The lake is NOT behind the house. You have to cross the road to get to it. The ad made it seem like it was right there. It was a beautiful sight though.
Also… read all of the info… if I didn’t, I wouldn’t of known to bring our own towels.
Cabin was nice and cozy with just a few thoughts but not enough to be unhappy about. Just thought I’d comment. No electrical outlets I the bathroom which was inconvenient. Heater in the bathroom was not very adequate for the cold night and morning. Lighting was not very good in the living room. By that I mean it was very very bright! We prefer low lighting. The owner supplied us with firewood that was not very dry but after struggling for some time we were able to light a fire In the fireplace. Kitchen had minimal essentials but we made it work. The front porch was great and the rocking chairs were awesome! The location was great. Overall not a bad place to stay. Just thought I’d share for future guests.
This location was awesome having the private dock. The water was so clean and peaceful. It’s also one of the only camps that would allow us to bring all 4 of our dogs. We all had such a blast and would definitely stay here again in the future! Nothing but a positive experience.
Our house was great; we had exactly the quiet and peaceful time we really wanted. We were especially impressed with the shower (thanks to the reviewer who warned that hot water might be limited, we used the water cut off built into the showerhead, and both of us (full sized guys!) had awesome hot showers in the spacious tub! The property manager was very knowledgeable and helpful. Loved the very comfy rockers on the front porch. First time vacationing with a pet, the property was great for him!
Decent place to stay unless you require a hot bath
Positives: Cabin was clean, fun fireplace, enjoyed the 3 separate rooms, dog was allowed for a fee, well-stocked kitchen (minus basic food items like salt and pepper), grill, plenty of furniture, owner replies quickly
Negatives: The water is not drinkable, but they provide bottled drinking water. Small hot water tank. Not enough for even 1 bath.
I had a great time at the property. It is conveniently located to popular attractions. The property is Newley refinished and very cozy and is pet friendly for the furry family members. My favorite part had to be the screened in front pourch
