Hot water was sporadic. Furniture was old and porch furniture was filthy. There was no TV, just Netflix. Jen did her best to accommodate us, but the place was just not very satisfactory.
Everything was wonderful. The lodge is perfect and peaceful. I wasn’t sure I would like the hot tub being separate from the house but it was close and private enough,
I enjoy being away from the hustle and bustle while on vacation. This was a perfect place to have a girl's weekend. It is very close to Lake Lure and Chimney Rock but far enough away to avoid crowds and noise. Also, I grew up going to camp every summer and this brought back so many wonderful memories of camp life.
I booked this place for a weekend with my daughter. I didn’t know it was close to Chimney Rock. The cabin was very spacious. Wonderful new appliances. Girl Scout memorabilia on the walls. It was real cute. We had a good time. The property is well maintained.
The lodge is located on an abandoned Girl Scout camp. Construction of the camp was probably in the 1950s. The fireplaces, constructed of local Stone, are beautiful stonework, but do not meet modern safety standards. Sadly, this means you cannot have a fire in the lovely fireplace. However, candles can bring the fireplace to life. There are 5 candles in Lantern Style candle holders. I brought 4 jar scented candles and then added tea candles on the raised hearth. So we did have a fire in the fireplace, which really brightened our evenings in the living room. Another use at the fireplace is to improve the volume and tonal quality of Boombox music. By pushing the boombox back into the fireplace a little way, one creates a kind of Reverb chamber. By pointing the speakers at the back of the fireplace one can reduce the sharpness of the treble range and round out the sound.
I had a wonderful experience in renting this cabin for my daughter’s 11th birthday sleepover. The cabin was PERFECT! It is much larger than it appears in pictures. We spend the majority of the time in the living room area which is very large. My daughter and her friends raved about it, the location, the hot tub, and the recreation area. We felt completely isolated and as though we had our own little space for the night. The owner added a sweet touch by having a birthday balloon in the dining room for my daughter when we arrived. I would absolutely stay here again.
