About this property
PET-FRIENDLY / COZY / DOWNTOWN RAPID
Built in 1947 and located in Central Rapid City, this home has a Hygge charm that will make it perfect for your stay in the Black Hills. This house became a pandemic project in 2020, but now, most of my year is spent traveling or on the East side of South Dakota. My mission is for this home to give the gift of "hygge" to other travelers like me :)
The house is on the main road that takes you up to Mt. Rushmore, Keystone, Custer, and Crazy Horse - and I have great local tips to take you off the tourist-beaten path in my guest book! Conveniently located next to corner pantry, Walgreens, Scooters, and other shops within short walking distance.
Downtown is a 5-minute drive away. Mount Rushmore is approximately a 20-minute drive from the house and other tourist attractions in the hills nearby. The house accommodates several cars in the back driveway, or a large vehicle w/ trailer.
Two queen bedrooms & one bathroom w/ tub and shower. The living room has a couch if you have 5 guests. Backyard with patio (grill & charcoal provided) and front yard with porch swing to enjoy the warm summer months. A full kitchen with essential cooking items and modern appliances to enjoy, plus a washer & dryer for complimentary guest use.

Cute and cozy with all kinds of additions to make the stay feel like home. Owner was responsive and helpful every time I reached out. Will stay here again!
This property was very pet friendly, even left poop bags and doggy treats. The beds were supef comfortable. It was exactly what we needed for our 10 day stay.
Emma had a great property for our stay! Very continently located near lots of sight seeing locations. She had great communication and even left us some recommendations which was very helpful! Would stay again
This was a great place for a 2-week stay in Rapid City. It was comfortable and had everything we needed. Plus it was conveniently located near everything we wanted to do! Would stay again!

Thanks Stacy! Would gladly host you again so happy to hear you enjoyed your stay. Safe travels!
The property was neat and clean. We were able to visit the local attractions and then return for a nice evening visiting with each other.
We enjoyed our stay.
The house was so cute and cozy. Had everything we needed for our family. Great location to the attractions like Mt Rushmore and crazy horse. Super responsive owner. Would stay again if in the area.
Our impression was it was clean all amenties needed to stay and a quiet neighborhood. We saw Badlands, Custer Park, Mt. Rushmore, Sturgis, Deadwood, Stearfish and much more. A lot to do and see. If you like Chinese, we ate at Golden Phoenix, which was great!!! Emma was great in her responses to us!!!!
A very cute, well maintained house in a great location. Very close to downtown, and quick access out to Rushmore, Keystone, Custer, the airport, anywhere you want to be.
Very comfortable beds. The living room is great and a big kitchen.
I cannot recommend this highly enough.
This was our first VRBO experience and was fantastic
The inside of the house was so comfy and bright and clean! The beds were high which was fine with us. We loved having a fenced in front yard for the dog. The location was perfect for us.
We stayed for an overnight while headed west. Cozy, clean home. Unfortunately, we were woken up at night by noise from people on the casino parking lot.
This house met our needs perfectly. Very clean and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Comfy beds, plenty of towels. I really appreciated the little things like nice Kleenex, toilet tissue, dish soap, paper towels, laundry detergent etc.. We loved having the front yard for our dog to play. Excellent stay and we highly recommend.
This was a wonderful house (clean & pretty) but I have to give it four stars instead of five because it was impossible to adjust the temperature so I was hot all night. To be fair, I didn’t reach out to the host because it was late at night by the time we were going to bed. The next morning she said she could control it with her phone. So, I’d stay here again but would make sure I figured that out before bedtime.
This cute house of Emma's was perfect for our Black Hills getaway. We had everything we needed. The house is decorated cute and is central to everythi g in the Black Hills area. So convenient to have the little fenced in yard to let our dog out to play. Communication was fast and easy. Thanks for sharing your home!
Owner should communicate with renters letting them know in advance when they will receive instruction on how to get in the day of arrival. Previous renters didn't clean up after dogs and yard was full of trash. Thermostat was difficult to operate. Overall nice place to stay and would recommend to others wanting to stay there.
This little house was just fine for our family of 4. The 2 bedrooms had Queen sizes beds. The bathroom was adequate. I told Emma she needs new pots and pans and should consider new coffee cups too. The WiFi was glitching and Emma fixed it asap. We enjoyed our stay. The house is near everything and really affordable. The neighborhood is sketchy, but we locked the all the doors and everything was fine. I would stay here again.
The house was very cute and they did a good job sprucing up the house for the condition it was in. The house is on the backside of a gas station but there’s a good concrete wall that you don’t see it. The neighborhood isn’t the most comfortable and you need to keep an eye on the neighbors dog as it was consistently barking and on the edge of jumping the fence. Although the security of the location is questionable, it is close to many attractions in rapid city.

The house was not ready when we arrived. No bed linens until I washed them, they were in the washer. After driving 9 hours I had to do laundry and make beds.
Owner kept adjusting the thermostat, when we left for the day and came back she had turned it up remotely, so we came back to a hot house.
The fenced in front yard was not accessible due to new sidewalks being put in, lots of construction noise and city workers working on putting the fence back up.
Young man showed up to mow and weed eat back yard, he only did half and left.
5-6 packages were delivered that we had to bring in and find room for. Amazon delivery’s always get the dogs wound up…the deliveries should have been sent to owners home so she could deal with them. Overall I felt like it was a “working” vacation.
The home was very nice and conveniently located and had many extras such as bubble baths, soaking salts, coffee, laundry soap….
We managed but would have rather not been disturbed with daily deliveries, laundry, front yard construction, mowing, and temperature control.

About the host
Hosted by Emma Bennett
This is the perfect space for your getaway to the Black Hills/Rapid City.
My personal favorite outdoor summer activities around the area include hiking, paddle boarding, horseback riding, jet skiing, and trail running. Pactola, Custer, Sheridan Lake are a must! Sturgis of course in August and local towns host street dances and concerts weekly!
During the winter months, I enjoy more indoor/outdoor activities here like dining downtown rapid, snowmobiling, wine, and beer tasting, ice skating, and shopping local. Historic Deadwood is a must, visit Chubby Chipmunk chocolates for some of the best truffles (and if you can't make them up to Deadwood you'll find them at the Alex Johnson!)

What makes this property unique
I bought the house this year and still working on finishing it up. It was built in 1947 and has a homey charm that will make it perfect for your stay in the Black Hills. Dogs welcome if potty trained!
Conveniently located next to corner pantry, Walgreens, Starbucks, and other shops within walking distance. Downtown is a 5-minute drive away. Mount Rushmore is approximately a 20-minute drive from the house and other tourist attractions in the hills nearby. The house is 5 minutes from Downtown RC and right on the road that takes you up to Mt. Rushmore, and I have great local tips to take you off the tourist-beaten path!
Two bedrooms - one with a king bed, one with a queen. The living room has a couch, that unfortunately does not pull out, but will fit a person. There is also a double air mattress, and a single trundle bed so there are many options to sleep.
ONE BATHROOM - with tub and shower, toilet, medicine cabinet, etc. It is an old house - so the bathroom is very small but has all your essentials. Just something to be wary of if your group is larger than 3-4 people.
