About this property

Lake Retreat: Beach, Kayaks, Loons near Acadia

The house comfortably sleeps 8 guests across four bedrooms, all located on the second floor (accessed by stairs). Two queen bedrooms offer serene lake views - the perfect way to start each morning. The other two bedrooms each feature a full bed, comfortably sleeping two. All bedrooms include blackout shades for a restful night’s sleep.

The open-plan living and kitchen area faces the lake directly, with floor-to-ceiling windows that fill the space with natural light and water views from almost every angle. The fully equipped kitchen features stainless steel appliances, a full oven and stove, dishwasher, and coffee maker - everything you need for relaxed group meals at home. The large dining table comfortably seats everyone for leisurely breakfasts, shared dinners, or evening games after a day on the water. It’s the kind of place that feels just as good on a rainy afternoon as it does on a sunny one.

The fully screened-in porch, one of the home’s standout spaces, is furnished with comfortable lounge seating - ideal for morning coffee, afternoon reading, or long evening conversations in fresh lake air, bug-free.

Outside, walk straight down to your semi-private beach for swimming, paddling, or simply sitting by the water. We provide 3 kayaks, a canoe, and 2 paddle boards - enough for the whole group to get out on the lake together. Green Lake is also a fantastic spot for fishing. The garden includes a BBQ grill, fire pit with seating, and an outdoor dining table - ideal for lobster cookouts and long summer evenings by the lake.

Two dedicated parking spaces are located directly in front of the house, with additional parking available in the lot at the top of the driveway. A private washer and dryer are available for guest use.

You won’t find a television here - instead, the home is stocked with board games and puzzles for evenings when you’d rather slow down. High-speed Wi-Fi is available for anyone who needs to stay connected.

G&M Family Market in Holden is about 10 minutes away for groceries and essentials. Bar Harbor, Ellsworth, and Bangor are all within easy driving distance for dining, shopping, and entertainment - including the Waterfront Concert series in summer.

Please note that all bedrooms are located on the second floor and accessed by stairs. The home is not suitable for guests with mobility limitations.

Lake stay near Acadia

Property clean and well equipped. Seemed larger than the quoted square feet. Nice to return from hiking to a place with a lake.

Super Stay

Absolutely lovely comfortable accommodations. We chose this location for a family ice-fishing trip when the grandkids were on winter break. The is easy access to the lake a a fantastic view from the cottage to see the traps (and kids playing on the ice). Would strongly recommend this to others considering a winter respite.

A WONDERFUL Place to Unwind

We absolutely loved staying in the house. Listening to the loons, our children playing with other kids nearby, going out in the boats, swimming in the lake, and just relaxing. So many wonderful memories from our stay here!

About the host

Green Lake holds a special place in our hearts. Growing up, we spent every summer here - swimming with cousins, learning to waterski, picking blueberries on long sunny days filled with laughter and family. Some of our fondest memories were made on this lake.

Our family has been part of the Green Lake community for over 100 years. When this property came available - just around the corner from our family cottage, previously owned by friends of our grandparents - we knew we had to have it. We spent three years lovingly renovating the three houses, creating spaces we hope will be enjoyed for generations to come.

We're thrilled to share this special place with you. We hope you'll explore Acadia National Park, Mount Desert Island, and the Downeast region - and that Green Lake leaves you with memories as lasting as ours.

The Quinn Family - Michaela, Jack, Erin, Ariana & Alex

Why they chose this property

Most lake houses put you near the water. This one puts you on it - floor-to-ceiling windows mean you wake up to the lake from your bedroom, your kitchen table, and your sofa. Step outside and your semi-private beach is right there, with 3 kayaks, a canoe, and 2 paddle boards ready to go. No waiting your turn, no driving to a boat launch.

Green Lake is quieter and less crowded than the lakes closer to Bar Harbor - which means loons calling in the morning, otters along the shore if you’re lucky, and evenings dark enough to see the Milky Way. The screened-in porch means you can enjoy it all without the bugs.

And unlike many vacation rentals, this home has been lovingly renovated by a Maine family with over 100 years of history on this lake. Every detail - from the blackout shades to the fully stocked kitchen - has been chosen with guests in mind.

What makes this property unique

• Floor-to-ceiling lake views from the open-plan living and kitchen area
• 3 kayaks, a canoe, and 2 paddle boards included - enough for the whole group
• Semi-private beach steps from the door
• Fully screened-in porch with lounge seating
• Blackout shades in all bedrooms for a restful night’s sleep
• Dark skies - see shooting stars and the Milky Way on clear nights
• Private keypad entry - flexible, hassle-free arrival
• Private washer and dryer
• High-speed Wi-Fi
• 45 minutes to Acadia National Park
• Green Lake is a designated fishing lake (permit required)
