My husband and I wanted to stay close to Mount Airy and this was the perfect place. Outside of home is beautiful and once inside you know the home is lived in by host family. Our room was the picture room and it was just like pictures shown. This was our first time staying in a home with host family there too but it turned out great for the night stay. They also rent out the entrance foyer and grounds for wedding and celebrations so we were awoken early morning with noise from downstairs with guest coming in and host showing the property to a group. But we still would recommend this property if you’re in the area.
This old inn is precious in every way!!
The hosts r the most friendly couple and they were so kind to help us with any last minute details and popular places to dine and visit.
Other than tropical storm Debby we had a wonderful time. The house is a five minute walk to the beach and we were lucky enough to be able to go every day but two. Everyone enjoyed the pool…rain or shine! Just a wonderful time.
From booking to leaving this morning this was the perfect spot for some rest and rejuvenation. The property owners were very quick to respond and most helpful with a few requests. Definitely will be back to visit.
Loved my stay at The Vintage Oak Estate. I needed a getaway to explore the mountain and surrounding area, this was perfect. Charming, quiet, and clean. High recommendations.
What a lovely place to stay and relax! The hosts were very nice and helpful. The room was extremely clean and so comfortable. We really enjoyed our stay and highly recommend this place!!

Didn’t get to the property till later than expected and doors were locked and we couldn’t in but property owners called and made everything right! They were very accommodating.
Property is beautiful. Hosts were excellent. There wasnt any soap in our room (cleaning person forgot to leave some behind). The hosts went out of there way to take care of us.
I would stay again.
We stayed one night and can’t wait to come back and enjoy a longer stay! The old charm of the house is still perfectly in tact and as beautiful as ever.

Owners were very friendly and helpful. The Estate is beautiful!!
My husband and I loved the Picture Room. Our regular hotel was full so this was a last-minute booking. But what an upgrade! Loved every creak of this old house ... old hardwoods, vintage furniture, and breathtaking oaks in the front of the property made this stay memorable. Also, cleanliness was topnotch. We'll be back! :)

It was in a small town on a beautiful property and it was quiet
Was traveling down the Blue Ridge Parkway and chose this place for location and architecture. Had a large room with queen size bedroom and separate bathroom. I was didn’t stay long enough to enough all the amenities of the house.

Enjoyed our stay. Only drawback the size of the bed was too small for two grown adults. A step was needed to get on the bed. I am 5’6” and husband had to help me in bed. Beautiful home.
Loved staying in this vintage home. So many of the original, elegant details - the beautiful floors, classic wallpaper, etc. - have been preserved. Very comfortable, cozy and welcoming. Great location for visiting wineries, exploring Mt. Airy and hiking at Pilot Mountain. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Beautiful inn
Very nice historic Inn. Beds were extremely comfortable. The location was a bit difficult to find at night since the driveway isn't illuminated. I might suggest that the owners eventually offer breakfast since we couldn't find a decent place which was nearby or extremely crowded. The owners were extremely accommodating and kind. For example, I requested that the towels and linens were washed in a fragrance free laundry detergent, and they followed through with this request.
The rooms were very clean. Some of the pictures on VRBO made you think that your room is attached to a sitting area. This is not so. The inn has a common place where you can gather.
Overall, it is a very nice place to stay.

About the host

My husband and I are both Mount Airy, NC natives. Our family just moved into our new home in January 2021. My husband and I teach at the local high school and are Realtors as well. We have 3 wonderful children-Katlyn (25), Kaymen (18), and Ella K (1). My wife and I, along with Ella K live in the Inn. We love hosting and having guests over to our home, and we can't wait to meet you!
Why they chose this property

What makes this property unique
Mount Airy, NC is not your typical small town. We are the basis for the Mayberry culture that was portrayed on “The Andy Griffith Show.” We are a family-oriented town that is still living a slow-paced lifestyle. Our home is approximately 6 miles from the downtown area. Downtown Mount Airy has lots of tasty restaurants, Andy Griffith memorabilia shops & a museum, a candy store, a toy store, a couple of low-key breweries, an amphitheater, a retro movie theater, clothing boutiques, coffee shops, bakeries, and more! Check out the beautiful mountain scenery with a drive on the Blue Ridge Parkway. The closest entrance to the parkway is about a 20-minute drive from the house. Being in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, there are lots of outdoor opportunities around Mount Airy. A few activities are hiking at Pilot Mountain, Hanging Rock, or Stone Mountain, kayaking along the Yadkin or Dan River, and visiting the Mount Airy parks or greenway. The local wineries are abundant as well: Round Peak Vineyards, Shelton Vineyards, Jolo Winery, Serre Vineyards, and so many more! There is something for everyone in Mount Airy, NC!
