This home is very beautiful and has a cozy feeling. The home was very clean and everything was labled making it very easy to find things. Lots of room to move around and the beds were comfortable. The one drawback is there are no window coverings on the windows on the main floor or in the upstairs bathroom.
Our family enjoyed staying at the "Grandma Cottage" for our 4th of July vacation. The cottage is close to the lake and beach and the yard was a bonus for the kids to run around when they were sick of the sand and lake. We would love to stay again next year!

Thank you for your amazing review and kind words. We’d love to have you stay again next year! 💚
With 10 family members we loved the extremely well stocked kitchen. Every utensil we needed for cooking meals. We also found this an extremely clean and comfortable vacation home.
Here in December for a family gathering. Very well equipped home. Comfortable beds and living space. Great kitchen. Streaming TV (ROKU) a challenge (no cable TV for regular Network stations). We’d definitely return.
The house was newly renovated and beautiful. It was spacious and had plenty of room for adults and little kids to play. We really appreciated them having a high chair- one less thing for us to pack! It was right across the street from the lake. The only downfall was difficult access to the beach, but the house itself was perfect!

The house is charming and extremely clean with fresh paint and a brand new kitchen. The hosts were very quick to respond to my questions before booking. The beach is a nice, 15 min walk. The only down side in my opinion is it is not a very nice view from the front porch of the house but we knew that from the photos. We still had a wonderful time as it was a great location to spend Labor Day weekend near our girls at Hope College which is extremely close.
We loved our stay at Grandma's Cottage. The home is perfect:
clean, comfortable, beautiful and perfectly organized for renters. The yard is large and we brought yard games and the kids played for hours. The kitchen had everything we needed and the beds were comfortable. We were in town for an event at the yacht club, which was right across the street. The "What's Nearby" map feature on vrbo is misleading- though if anyone looks at the map, one would realize: Holland State Park (and everything near it) may be mapped at less than a mile away, but it's a 25-minute drive through Holland to get around Lake Macatawa to get there. Worth the drive but not .6 miles away! Closer beach access - Laketown Beach - is lovely.

We were in town to visit with some family who lived in Wisconsin. They were in the area for a wedding. This gave us the perfect opportunity for our kids (ages 4 & 6) to play. The location was great. Easy access to Mac Adventure, where we rented a boat one morning, Laketown beach, saugatuck dune state park, Holland farmers market, etc.
We loved being able to sit on the porch and watch the boats come back in the evening. The kids loved playing in the "secret cousin room" and hiding from the adults.
The only thing I think could be better would be later check in hours. The two hour window, 3p-5p, was a little stressful to make sure we made it on time
The process of checkin in was super simply and easy, but having to be there before the ship store closed meant we needed to keep an close eye on the time while driving up.
All in all, we are no actual complaints and we are talking about trying to come back next year as an end of summer bash
Perfect! Beautifully remodeled turn of the century cottage. 4 bedrooms 2 full baths and really nice well equipped kitchen. Very Clean! Provided fans for upstairs bedrooms. Nice deck and front porch with views of the marina and down the inland lake, perfect for the fireworks viewing.
Con: the listing said that there was beach access to the Macatawa (Lake Michigan) Beach. BUT.. there are disagreements between the ElDean Shipyard owners (which own the cottage) and the Macatawa Home Owners Association as to whom may have right of way access to the path to the beach. The path sits on private property but the beach is public, with out any other land access. The pool across the street is for the Shipyard Members. The cottage Does Not come with access, can’t even buy a day pass…weird since the owners own both the cottage and the shipyard.
Just be aware. Otherwise this was perfect for our needs for the 4th of July.

Thanks Ellen, glad you enjoyed the house. The marina across the street does have pool passes and/or boat slips available for purchase by the day, however, they are only available if the marina isn't to busy and has the room for the extra guests. Unfortunately for you, the week of the 4th is the busiest week for the marina, so there were not any available. Although these properties have shared ownership, we don't send boaters to use the yards, parking, and basketball & volleyball courts of the rental units, and vice/versa. (However, our Harbor View Lofts do have pool access for up to 5 people at a time - same rule for our boaters).
If you tried, you would have been able to walk out and watch the fireworks at the beach with the passes that were provided, but I'm happy to hear the view of the fireworks from Grandma's cottage was nice too. Also, you would of been able to walk up the steps to get to the beach. It is unfortunate that the neighbors that you talked to convinced you otherwise.
Thank you and just send us a note when it is time for another vacation!
Grandmas Cottage is a historical bungalow style home in Macatawa. The founders of the marina (Jesiek Bros. Shipyard) built and began living in this home in 1935 and then, after selling the marina to Eldean Shipyard, the Eldean Family moved in to the home in 1973. The recent remodel, completed in 2022
