Experience life on a ranch with a gorgeous view of the Grand Mesa! Our "Barndominium" is a 2 BR (more like 1 1/2) remodeled upper level living quarters of an older barn. Enjoy roaming around 70 acres of horse ranch with 27 horses to learn their names and pick your favorite. Watch horses in training, chickens laying eggs pet the goats in the petting zoo. The cows and bulls are too. The star of the show for the kids is our miniature Donkey named "BoMama". Bring your pet and walk around our ranch to unwind and enjoy nature. Kids will love playing on the swing set/play house. There is a queen sized bed with an adjoining bedroom area to accommodate a comfortable twin sized bed. In the great room there is also a queen sized "Murphy Bed" for additional sleeping space. This is one of 4 rental properties on the ranch which makes for a great family and friend gathering or a fun space for a reunion or event, including weddings. We even have an RV space that can hookup to water and electricity for rent. We also have EV charging on site up at the workshop. Come check us out!

About the host
Hosted by Barb
David and Barb are owners of Tongue Creek Ranch. Tongue Creek Ranch is a hay and alfalfa farm that also hosts up to 25 horses in various corrals on site. In the late fall and winter you will see cows grazing the 70 acre ranch. David is a retired firefighter and now manages the ranch. Barb worked at Douglas County School District for nearly 20 years and is now enjoying her role as hostess of the three on-site VRBO rentals. We welcome you to enjoy the beautiful setting of Tongue Creek Ranch and explore the sights of the Western Slope!
Why they chose this property
Tongue Creek Ranch is a peaceful place to un-wind. We encourage our guests to walk around the 70 acre property as long as they stay clear of livestock and/or feeding any of the animals on site. Visitors may also pet the horses as long as the owners are available or can arrange for someone to be with them. The horse owners welcome you to watch them train whenever they're out and about. Be sure to meet our Nigerian Dwarf Goats and chickens in our little petting zoo. We also added a miniature horse named "Johnny Cash" who can be rented out for owner-lead rides for children under 50lbs. Just let us know if you'd like to go into the pens to pet them, get some great photos or possibly go for a little ride!
What makes this property unique
The Western Slope is a unique location with a wide variety of sites and attractions. Any outdoor enthusiast will love to explore the Grand Mesa (with over 300 lakes) or one of the nearby national parks. Explore the Black Canyon of the Gunnison or the Colorado National Monument for some memorable scenic rides. Enjoy hiking, fishing, hunting, snowmobiling, skiing, snowshoeing or boating in this incredible part of Colorado. Mountain Bike trails also abound in this area including the "Palisade Plunge" which begins at the top of the Grand Mesa National Forest for 32 miles of downhill single-track, adrenaline-pumping action. This is a 6,000 foot descent through pristine public lands that end in Palisade. You'll want a glass of wine after that! There are also many quaint mountain towns like Paonia, Ridgeway or Ouray that offer unique shopping, dinning, wineries, breweries, hot springs, art classes and museums. Telluride is a 2-hour trip south and is an iconic mountain town with world-class skiing, hiking and fishing.
